Back On Getting Side-Tracked

Now, where did we leave off?

We did get sidetracked with Tears of the Planet, and everything that came with it. But, now it seams like everything is back on track. For the most part. Running a business feels like it’s a train wreck waiting to happen. We just have to make sure that when things go wrong, we can steer that train back on the tracks. Hopefully we can avoid the wreck and go around it.

And, that’s what we have been doing for the last 6 and a half years.

6.5 Years?

It seems like yesterday.

We started off with an eBay store. I just checked the date too. Nov-26-2018.

It took us quite a while to get that first sale. But, it finally came, and slowly Kardboard Korner began to grow.

I don’t even know how I got to talking about the begining, but I remember that we had gone to the Flea Market, and found some Pokemon packs selling for a dollar. I thought to myself, how are they getting them so cheap that they can sell them for a dollar each. This was back when packs were going 3 for $10 at your local LGS.

Some of you might have already read this story before, and yes those packs were fake.

As you can see, we can get sidetracked pretty easily.

And, I just spent 2 hours looking at Japanese Vending Machines, trying to find a purveyor for Japanese stickers and cards. I’ve been meaning to change up the Sticker Machine at the store with something a little more unique. It seams like everywhere I go that has vending machines, it’s always the same stickers and tattoos that are in there.

Most of them aren’t even worth putting in. The only thing that really moves is the Pokemon card section. I could easily have put in a bunch of bulk, but I decided on Double Rares and anything unique that I can get for around a quarter. Luckily I managed to get a good deal on some Japanese EX cards, and those have people coming in just for the cards. I see people drop in 5 dollars at a time, trying to “Catch ‘Em All”.

Back on the Japanese stickers and cards, I haven’t found anyone selling them.

I’ll keep looking though.

Bah Humbug!

Before I start anything.

Bah Humbug!

OK, now that the holidays are over. No, more crazy shopping, running around trying to find a couple of presents. No more, until next year. But, next year we tell ourselves, we’ll do all of our holiday shopping in July. And, you know that, that never works. It might with some people, but not for me. I leave everything till last minute, and then I’m running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

But, enough about that.

The year is almost over, and that means that we’ll be getting our final release on the 31st of December. MetaZoo Cryptid Nation 2nd printing. Theme Decks, and Spellbooks, and Boxes. Oh My! Let’s Find the Mothman.

We’re going to be getting ready for our 2nd Release Event.

We have a couple of Events coming up for all you FFTCG players out there. One for the Custom Starter Set, and at least one for Emissaries of Light. February and March. I’ll have more info on each of them soon enough, but we know that they will be late night events once again.

I think these late night events are good, even though there’s not that big of a turn out, there are plenty of people that can’t make the afternoon events due to their work schedule. Me being one of them. I was never able to make it to many events just for the fact that I usually work all day. And by the time I get off of work, your local game store is usually closed.

War of the Visions you ask?

Well, I haven’t really played. Same old since last time.

Got To Be, the Very Best

I started playing Pokemon Online, mainly because I work all day and there are no places open late at night to find someone to play FFTCG with. That and It’s very simple to pick up, with the tutorial and the Trainer Challenges, there’s something to do. Even when you work all day.

Mostly I’ll just start a match and go about my business and when I’m close to the laptop, I’ll take a look, survey what’s going on and make my moves, before I set off again to do what I need to do.

Turns out it’s a very interesting game.

Behind the Pikachus, are the game’s mechanics which upon closer observation, I enjoyed. The game sucked me in and I have been playing for about a month now. I have all these old codes that shall get me a whole bunch of packs with them. Now, I believe this is something that FFTCG should do. I know I would be playing. But, that’s for another post.

The Trainer Challenges are a great way for anyone to make their way into this game. It allows you to figure out how a deck works, and you don’t have to worry about facing an actual person, as I tend to shy away from online play. Hoping to learn exactly what I am doing before jumping in.

The computer opponents are pretty easy to beat, giving you a little bit of a challenge. But, once you figure it out, it becomes fairly simple.

I haven’t tried building a deck yet, mostly because I have no Mimikyu cards. I’ll eventually get to trying out the deck builder. Once I get all these packs and have enough good cards to get a decent deck going. If anyone wants to play, kardboardkorner is my display name.
