Kardboard Fantasy II

05/26

Finally got to test out that Ipod that I had, and you guessed it, there is something wrong with it. But, instead of spending time trying to fix it, I’m just going to try and sell it for parts.

Plus I ordered the AV Cable for the Dreamcast, and a new sensor bar for the Wii, and that bar should work for the Wii U as well. Now, that I’m thinking about it, I should have looked for the plug for the Wii U. Next time. I don’t even have any games for the Wii U.

05/27

Found some Final Fantasy VII Anniversary Art Museums, and they are now online.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to start reorganizing the office today. Hoping to move some things around and have more table space to work on, be it shipping, sorting, and listing. I’ll let you all know how that goes.

Trying to figure out how to get rid of all this Bulk I have that I have no use for. I’m talking about Sports Cards, Pokemon and every other TCG besides Final Fantasy. Probably going to start listing Bulk Lots on eBay. We’ll see how that goes.

05/28

You guessed it. It’s raining.

It always seems to rain when I need to head over to the Flea Market. Nothing found today, cause there was nothing to find.

I did notice that some Thrift Stores are starting to open earlier than they normally did. I don’t have much luck at thrift stores, but if I don’t have much else going on, it’s worth getting out.

I actually started working on the office today. It’s starting to look a little better, but everything is all over the place right now. It will slowly come together, once everything is organized I’ll be able to work side by side with my wife, and that is something that we have been planning for a while now.

05/29

Had to take my kids to The Forge today for a field trip that they had. It was out of the way, but it’s a nice drive down Cal Sag through the forest. Once you get off, you head down a dirt road until you reach it. I got excited, because I turned on the four wheel drive on the Jeep. Probably drove like that for half a mile, but it was enjoyable.

On the way back, I took Archer down to go through Willow Springs hoping to find a Garage Sale. Nothing. Nothing at all. I only found one Sale going on and that was a lady that has a Garage Sale every week, and she is always trying to sell the same stuff. Naturally, I skipped that one.

After I picked up the kids from school, I headed to a Thrift Store, and managed to find a Shrek button up shirt from Hot Topic. It still had the tags on and everything. I picked it up, and then we went for Ice Cream.

05/30

Friday, but this Friday is different. My kids are receiving awards at school, so it is my job to take the morning off and go and watch the ceremony. But, that doesn’t start till 12PM. TIme to go Saling? Saleing? Sailing? (How would you spell it?)

It’s starting to get better. There’s a lot more garage sales out there. I’m guessing it was the chance for rain that kept people inside.

Managed to find a PS2 with controllers, memory cards, and 4 games today. And, a bunch of Basketball cards, which I knew I shouldn’t pick up. But, I did. Nothing really good was in there.

05/31

Last day of May, and it’s Saturday. (Hey, that rhymes!) That means we’re off to the Flea Market. Once again we’re going to 3 separate ones. Alsip, Robbins and Chicago. Wake up early and I’m bringing along both the kids today. They actually like going.

Alsip is first as always. Lots of good stuff, but not at the prices we’re looking for. Until I ran into a Crystal Red 2DS. The gentleman said he didn’t know if it worked. That’s ok, at the price he was asking, I’ll take a chance on it.

That’s all that we got over there.

Robbins was next, 6 PS2 Public Betas and Demo discs. a PS4 Controller and a pair of Oogie Boogie Vans.

So far , we’re doing great. We could have stopped there and have been done for the day, but we still had money, and that means we can still buy more stuff. Off to 42nd and Ashland. That’s probably the biggest Swap around here. We probably walk around 3 miles at least to go up and down all the stalls.

What did we find? We found the coolest thing imaginable. Something you’d never think you would find at the Flea Market. Was it the Fortnite Leviathan figure? Nope. Was it the Supernatural Join the Hunt Collector Box? Nope again. I don’t even know why I picked it up. I should have left it there. All I want to do is throw it in the garbage.

Back on track.

So, what was it?

We found Cloud’s Buster Sword! It wasn’t actual size. It’s probably about 3 to 4 Feet long. My son was walking around with it sitting on his shoulder. He was just as excited as I was. As I’m walking around I see a gentleman spot the sword and his mouth dropped. You were 2 minutes too late buddy.

The Crystal Red 2DS didn’t work like it was supposed to. I listed it on eBay for parts, and I started getting offers for it right off the bat. It was gone within the hour.

06/01

June is here. And, I for one can’t believe it.

It was a lazy day for me. Just tested out 3 of the PS2 Public Betas. I didn’t try the Demo Discs cause they were still sealed, with a shipping label on them. Not much money in these, they’ll go up as a lot on eBay.

I spent the rest of the day putting orders together.

Then I passed out on the couch.

05/19

The Triple Triad cards came in today. Spent the day sorting and listing them on eBay. Ok, I really didn’t spend all day, maybe an hour on them.

Setup a new computer in the office. Hopefully we’ll be able to get a new space for unboxings and videos. Already have some equipment for it. Maybe, just maybe we’ll start streaming on twitch, or something along those lines.

My daughter tripped over an Xbox that was sitting on the floor next to my desk and ended up spilling water all over it. And there was some cards in an open case on there as well. I tried saving them, but some just got wet. Now, I have to see which ones were already listed and take those listings down.

05/20

Started off the morning trying to test out the couple of Wiis that I picked up on Saturday. They both work, but without the Sensor bar, I am unable to make sure that they work 100%. As of right now I know that they power up, and read the games on the Main Menu. Probably should just get a wired controller for it. Make my life simpler.

And, as always, I heard that 1 out of 5 Wiis that you get will have Mario Kart in them. I pressed the eject button on them and sure enough one of the Wiis spit out Mario Kart.

It’s a misty morning today, and that probable means the Flea Market is not on for today. Still have to check it out just in case. Dropped the kids off at school and off I went to find an empty parking lot. I saw some people walking around hoping that maybe they moved it inside, but nothing. Probably just the workers.

Decided that we are going to change the office around, so that 2 people can work side by side. Put up a a photo station, a shipping station a testing station and a desk or 2 and we should be good to go. Planning to do it next weekend as this weekend we have some things that need to be taken care of.

Thinking about going to the Materia Cup at Good Games on Saturday, just to say hi to a bunch of players.

05/22

The mist is still out there, and that probably means that there aren’t any garage sales going on today. Still doesn’t hurt to look.

I managed to find one, nothing of interest there. But let’s keep moving maybe we’ll find another one. 2 signs that led to no sale, and then another one where I pulled up and I tried going in but the gate was locked. And, I could see the guy sitting in his garage next to a table full of what he was trying to sell. I just kept going. I’ll find some sales tomorrow.

05/23

What is happening? This whole week has been a bust. A big fat skunk is out there and it stinks. There was hardly any Garage Sales out there today, and we probably drove a good 40 miles, going round in a great big circle.

I’ll blame it on the rain. Yeah, yeah.

We have to make it up today. We’ve been striking out all week, but today will be different. It has to be. And, we’re not going to stop until it is different.

Off we go, grab my son, cause he likes coming along. He likes looking at all the toys. We get to the Swap, and I can tell we’re a little later then usual cause my parking spot is already taken. No need to worry, we’re still going in. From the get go, there were great items everywhere, but not great prices. And, that’s al right. It’s still feels great when you see something like a Sega Genesis out in the wild. $150 for it, I don’t think so. Although he did have a few NES Games, I did pick some up, and I probably overpaid for them. But, I did get Ninja Gaiden. Going to teach my kids about the glory days of the NES.

Also found a couple of Wii games, Donkey Kong Country and Sonic and the Secret Rings.

Took off from Alsip and headed to Robbins. Open Air Market, or something like that. This is just a small one, but it’s free to get in. Not much there, Except a Lionel Graduated Trestle Set, with the box, all the pieces in there.

After that it was off to 42nd and Ashland. This is a huge Flea Market, you’ll need at least an hour just to go through it the first time. I got to figure out how much we walk next week when we get there. All we managed to find was a couple of Playstation and Xbox controllers.

The Console testing station is getting there. We’ll soon be able to test pretty much any game.

05/25

Today I was volunteering at the Jr. Olympics.

I got lost in the begining trying to find the Soccer Stadium, but they said they didn’t need me. They told me to head over to the grilling station. And, I’m glad they sent me there. As soon as I walked over, I was handed a drink and a Greek Frappe. It was party time. If I knew about this I would have been signing up to volunteer since the begining.

I stayed there for about 8 hours, We probably grilled for about 2 hours.

Didn’t get much done today for some reason.

Got on a call with my Distributor. I was looking to get some Pokemon that I pre-ordered a couple of months ago. Nothing for me. Turns out since I haven’t ordered any Pokemon in the last few years, I am at the back of the line.

We’ll eventually start getting Pokemon again. When? I don’t know.

Gran Turismo 5.

My son likes playing that game. He’s on a mission to buy a Lamborghini. In the game that is. He’s at 120,000 credits, only needs 160,000 credits to go.

05/13

Need to start getting ready for Toy Con Toy Show this Sunday We’ll be there once again. We did real good last time, hopefully we’ll do even better this time.

Wednesday morning, let’s head to the Swap. Just got to drop the kids off at school first.

Not much there today. The guy I got all those Pokemon games from last time was there, and once again he didn’t have anything for me. I tried striking up a conversation with him, and realized he didn’t understand English! That’s ok. This whole time I thought he was going to bring me some more Video Games. I won’t give up on him, he’ll eventually find some more items for me.

We did not leave empty handed today. A nice gentleman had a copy of the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children OST. The first printing Outer Sleeve included! And, that my friends is something that I can’t pass up. He said I made his day better. He made mine better too!

Also got a 20% Coupon running on eBay at the moment. This one expires at the end of the month. I can’t remember what the Coupon Code is, but it’s automatically applied when you buy something.

Also picked up some Final Fantasy VIII Triple Triad cards. Just waiting for those to come in sometime next week.

05/15

Palos Hills Bargain Days! That’s what was the plan for the morning.

Driving around from garage sale to garage sale, it was like a car pool. The same four cars driving from one to the other.

Found some Minecraft Plushies that should do good at the shows, some 90’s cassette tapes, and a Chicago Fire Jersey from 2020. I’m a Fire fan, even though I don’t watch them as much as I used to. I stopped watching when they made the switch to Apple TV.

05/16

There was a big fat skunk out there today. Even with the Village Wide Garage Sale in Justice. I’ve come to realize that the only good day for Garage Sales is Thursday. The other days might be good, but they’re most likely already picked through.

05/17

It’s Saturday, got to wake up early and get moving. Took the two little ones with me today to make my rounds at the Swap in Alsip.

I thought I hit a jackpot early on, when I saw a case of Wii Games just sitting there. Right on top is Mario Kart. That tells me to take a closer look. I grab it and hand it to my daughter, and start going through all the games. I should check the cases before I get anything, and they were all empty.

Time to keep moving.

Ended up finding a Power Pad for the NES. I don’t think anyone really used this. Even in the 80’s I can’t remember if any of my friends had it. Got to test it out now, I’ll just have the kids try it out somehow.

It was still early, so we went to a second Flea Market, this one was in the city. And this was maybe 3 times as big as the one in Alsip. Found a couple of Wiis that I probably over paid for.

Time to head home, an get ready for Toy Con Toy Show.

05/18

Early wake up call once again.

TIme for the Toy Con Toy Show. Grabbed my daughter and off we went.

It’s a Star Wars Celebration, and there were Storm Troopers walking around. It was a fun show, even though it wasn’t that busy. We still made a decent amount of sales.

The vendor next to us didn’t show up, so we got some extra table space. I told my daughter that if she sells anything that I put on the table, I’ll give her 5 bucks. I then gave her the task of making it presentable. She kept rearranging everything, even built a wall with all the boxes.

She then asked if I can put the Minecraft plushies on her table. I gave them to her, and she sold them. All 3 of them.

She was proud, and then she got bored and just wanted to play Roblox.

Journey of Discovery

“Scheduled for release on November 14, 2025, the new FFTCG booster pack “Journey of Discovery” features many appealing cards, including brand-new illustrations and characters making their card debut. Additionally, all “Limit Break” cards included in this booster pack—a key element for multifaceted strategies—will be multi-element, providing a wide range of options for LB decks. “Journey of Discovery” will significantly expand the possibilities for both deck construction and strategic play.

This set will also come with 28 newly illustrated cards centered around characters from FINAL FANTASY VIII. Also included as an extremely rare Special card is Terra [27-014H], showcasing a brand-new illustration Fumio Minagawa, and featuring his signature foil-stamped on a card for the first time. This set is designed to appeal not only to players but also to collectors, and is sure to resonate with many existing players and FINAL FANTASY fans.

In addition, Legacy cards—powerful cards from the past selected for inclusion as premium full art cards—continue to be featured in this booster pack. The following three cards are included in this set: Regis [12-122L], Neo Exdeath [21-074L], and Ace [22-116L]. Special cards and Legacy cards are not only for collection purposes as they can both be used in official tournaments, just like normal cards.

* Please note that the Buy-a-Box Promo card will no longer be included with display box purchases, starting with the “Journey of Discovery” booster packs. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.”

We had Journey of Discovery announced last week!

We’re a little late to the party but let’s take a look at what we have in store.

We have a count of 121 cards, according to my calculations, which can be wrong, we will have 18 cards for each element. I’m guessing 3 or 4 Light/Dark cards and the rest will be LB cards. The Legacy Cards are back once again with our usual 3 cards which were mentioned above.

We’re getting plenty of new Final Fantasy VIII cards including a Rookie card for Ellone. Other cards that were shown are Zell, Graha Tia, Seven, Krile, Ultimecia, Tonberry, Jack and a Black Mage and a Miqote of some sort. Yeah, I haven’t played the online games, so I’m unsure if they are actual Characters or just Standard Units.

Let’s check out our Magitek Knight with the Golden Signature, Terra!

A 4 cost Hero. Terra is a Forward that once she enters the field, you reveal the top 3 cards of your deck. You can add 1 Fire card and either a Wind or a Lightning card to your hand. The rest will end up in the Break Zone.

Whenever you play a Wind or a Lightning card you can dull Terra and deal 8000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

This means that you will be placing Terra into a Fire/Wind deck or a Fire/Lightning deck. Both of which have not seen many FFVI decks with these elements. Which means that either, we’ll be getting plenty of Final Fantasy VI Wind and Lightning cards, or that Terra will perfect for any deck that plays these elements.
