From JRPGs to Quarter Boosters: Flea Market Finds

Back to Basics: Hidden Hope Restocks & Retro Finds

The hype from the latest release has finally settled, and while we love the midnight energy, it’s nice to get back to our regular programming. For us, that means one thing: The Restock.

We recently finished processing Beyond Destiny, and today we are officially moving on to Hidden Hope. We’ll be rolling these out across the website, TCGPlayer, and eBay throughout the day. If you’ve been looking for specific singles to polish off your latest deck, keep your eyes on our shop—they’ve been moving fast!

A Flea Market Score (and Some Sports-Game Skips)

I managed to hit the flea market today, and the retro gods were smiling. I found a nice little stack of original PlayStation (PSX) titles that I couldn’t pass up:

  • Star Ocean: The Second Story: A total JRPG classic.

  • Fighting Force: Perfect for anyone missing those old-school beat-’em-ups.

  • Resident Evil 2: Unfortunately, it’s just Disc 1, but for the right collector looking to complete a set, it’s a great find.

I did have to leave a pile of sports games behind—I probably could have grabbed them, but we all know the struggle of trying to move old Madden and FIFA titles!

The “Quarter-Pack” Gamble

I also found a few booster packs for just a quarter each. One was Kaijudo—which some of you might remember as Wizards of the Coast’s 2012 relaunch of the Duel Masters franchise. Even if it’s a “dead” game, seeing that Wizards logo for $0.25 makes it a mandatory buy.

I also snagged a Star Wars Rogue One booster. I was chasing an autograph, but I pulled a Shoretrooper Character Icon. It’s valued at about $2.00, so hey—I’ll take a 700% return on investment any day of the week!

From Opus I to Valentine’s Day

What have we been up to? In a word: Listing.

We have been heads-down and deep in the stacks, restocking Final Fantasy TCG across both our TCGPlayer and eBay stores. We’ve officially finished processing everything from Opus I through Opus VI, plus singles from the World Champions Decks 2024.

Honestly? I didn’t expect the World Champions singles to move as fast as they have! It’s a good lesson learned: don’t sleep on the specialty decks. If you’ve been looking for specific older Opus cards to round out your collection, now is the time to go hunting in our shop.

The Winter Slump

The winter weather has been a real mood-killer for my flea market runs. I’ve tried to make it work, but there’s nothing more frustrating than driving all the way out there just to find the gates closed or the same two vendors selling things I definitely don’t want. I’m crossing my fingers for a break in the weather soon so I can get back to the hunt!

Looking Ahead: Dreamlike Oceans

Don’t forget, Opus XXVII – Dreamlike Oceans is launching at the end of next month! That means the Midnight Prerelease is also just around the “Korner” in March. We’ll have the specific details for you soon, though you know the drill—we like to keep the tradition alive, so expect the same great vibe we always have.

A Early Valentine’s Gift for You ❤️

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the “Korner,” we figured it was time for a celebration. Whether you’re buying a gift for a loved one or just “treating yo’ self” (we won’t tell!), we want to help you save.

Starting now, take 14% OFF your entire order!

Promo Code: VINCENT
Expires: Midnight on February 14th

Head over to the shop and snag those cards or sealed product you’ve been eyeing before someone else does!

Don’t forget about our TCG Player store either.

Well, I decided that instead of doing this once a week, I’ll be trying to get it down everyday, except the Weekend. I’ll do the Weekend as a whole on Monday.

Monday the beginning of the week. And what a beginning it was. A little Hectic. The morning went by fast due to what I was trying to accomplish at the restaurant. Trying to figure out what is wrong with the Ice Machine. That’s always fun. It’s like everything decides to break down at the same time, and you’re trying to extinguish the fires before anything else starts to burn.

But, that’s what business is. All the problems fall on you.

But, we’re not here to talk about that, we’re here to talk about Kardboard Korner. OR the day in the life of Niko.

What did we do card wise?

Not much, it’s Monday remember. WE did the Card of the Day, for Social Media. A week’s worth as we usually do. And, we finished our last “Week in Review”. And, that is usually all I have planned for Mondays.

There’s also that MTG bulk, and the guy that I bought it from said he has some more to send. That means I need to finish this quickly to get more bulk here. There’s a decent amount of good cards in there, and I’m excited to see what else they send me.

All we listed yesterday were singles from Dark Ascension. Time to double down on these cards, and get some bulk lots out of them. You won’t be finding anything really expensive in there, but at the price we’ll be selling them, you’ll be getting at least double your money’s worth. And, there will be no duplicates in these lots. So, if you’re looking out to try some cards you would have never thought of for Commander, these lots are for you.

Kardboard Fantasy – Crystal Korners

09/29
Today as always is get ready for this week. First things first, finish up the week in review, and Card of the Days for Instagram and Facebook.

Next we have a release this week. Actually a few releases. We have the 2025 Starter Sets Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Plus there are a bunch of sleeves that are coming out this week. Called up my distributor, and they said that the Starters still didn’t arrive yet, but they arrived at a few of their other locations, so they should be showing up any day now. We’ll just take care of all that tomorrow.

I wish that was all for Monday, but it’s not.

My Jeep broke down on my way home. That wasted a couple of hours waiting for Triple A to show up. I asked for a tow, and they sent someone to check my battery. Go. figure. The car started up again, and I drove the rest of the way, slowly. I had the Triple A guy follow me, cause I didn’t want to get stranded again. Parked the car and now I got to figure out the warranty and what it covers. And, then I need to find a place to take it to.

09/30

The last part of this month has been slow. Orders just trickled in. We can’t have that. So what do we do? We buy more Bulk. Well we’re always buying bulk, but now it seems like we ran out of cards. I’ll leave a reminder here that we will buy your bulk that you don’t want. $10 per 1,000 cards

Called my distributor early, and the Starter Sets are at their warehouse. Along with some Card Sleeves that I forgot all about! Sounds like a good way to kick it into high gear again.

I was pretending to be an electrician tonight. If you remember, I was trying to install a ceiling fan last week and kept tripping the breaker. This time I turned it off before hand, this way I can’t trip it. It was easier than I thought it would be. So, if you need an Electrician, for something simple, give is a call. We’re Electrifying!

Installed some more lights in the Kitchen and called it a night.

10/01

Waiting on UPS.

Still Waiting.

It’s getting late now, let me check the tracking. It never left the warehouse. And, I was planning on doing the Unboxing tonight. Guess we’ll have to leave that for tomorrow.

Soccer Practice at night, but now they started Greek Dance and it’s on Wednesdays, that means we got to rush straight from the School to the soccer fields.

10/02

Our Starter Sets arrived today, we started getting everyone’s orders together and sending them out. Also got a bunch of sleeves in, check them out if you haven’t already.

It was one of our daughters birthday today, so we had a small party at the house.

What’s left?

Time to make a video, we checked out the Starter Sets, that is on YouTube if you want to check it out.

10/03

Spoiler Season is here, and that means that we’re going to be getting ready for Journey of Discovery. That means we’re going to start working on our opinion articles on the set, and since the Starter Sets are already out, we will be getting those done first. Expect those to drop sometime next week.

Worked on some listings today. From both Starter Sets they are both on TCG Player and eBay. And, I’ve go to say those went fast.

10/04

It’s game day, we got a couple more games to go before the tournament starts on October 18th.

I’ve got to say these kids make me proud, my son plays his heart out, and my daughter needs a little push, but she tries. We lost 2-1 today. It’s the first time we’ve scored a goal in a couple of weeks. Needless to say, my son scored the goal, off a Free Kick, from behind the half line. It was probably 30 yards away from the goal, but at his age that is pretty far. Sure, it might have been cause the other goalie wasn’t the greatest. But the ball went in. Even though it stopped rolling once it passed the line.

The coach has him doing all of the Free Kicks, Goal Kicks Corners, they are all on him now.

My daughter on the other hand, she is a bit reserved. She’s a little scared to get into it with the other kids, but she was hustling. I did tell her that if she tried I would get them a some Italian Ice after. I think that did the trick for her. She started chasing the ball down. She likes cats, so I told her to be a tiger on the field. She made some stops. And, she was trying to stay focused, she gets easily distracted and likes to day dream.

10/05

Early morning at the restaurant, and everyone was late today. And, of course that’s when everybody decides they want some Gyros. They all came in, and I had to take care of the rush. Luckily it only lasted an hour.

Got home, and I told my son that we will be going out to practice soccer everyday. He was trying to do a bicycle kick. He nearly has it. We started working on his foot work, that’s probably what he needs the most. But it’s mostly about having fun, so we don’t really focus on drills or anything, maybe I’ll show him something and we’ll do it for 5 minutes. After that it’s all fun and games. Sometimes he wants to be the goalie, he enjoys that when I shoot it at him.

Took care of all of the Weekends orders. And, now it’s time to get ready for the upcoming week.

Kardboard Fantasy VI

09/22

Let’s start off the week right. Or just what we usually do. Finish up our “Week in Review” and get the Card of the Day scheduled for Instagram and Facebook.

30 day plan, and it said work on your Main Menu. And, our Main Menu is small and easy to navigate, so we didn’t have much to do for that today.

Tried installing the new lights, and for some reason I kept tripping the breaker. I had the lights off, which is usually enough to take make the change. I gave up as it was getting late. I’ll work on it tomorrow while I have some day light.

09/23

Got a new workstation for Kardboard Korner. A new/old workstation. Got to format it, and bring it back to it’s factory settings before I do anything with it. That will take up most of the day. But, luckily you don’t really need to stay on top of it, just take a look every now and then to make sure it doesn’t crash. Which it already did.

Starting to work on Rebellion’s Call today. A quick sort, and I should be able to do the restock tomorrow.

Had to do some running around for the restaurant which put my lights on the back burner. Plus I took a nice nap. I had laid down for 5 minutes, and I was out.

09/24

I got a new laptop. The old one has been around since 2009. And, it’s still running strong .. ish. It will still get the job done, it’s just that whole Windows update. As of next month they will stop supporting Windows 10 and that old computer won’t run Windows 11. They’re forcing me to buy a new computer.

Actually, I was already looking before hand, probably a couple of years now, but you know what they say. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Kids had an early day at school, and Soccer practice afterwards. I had them do all of their chores and homework before hand, so we can spend the night playing 99 Nights in the Forest.

We tied our previous record. For some reason we just can’t get passed the 33rd day.

 09/25

Started the day off working on the Rebellion’s Call restock on TCG Player and eBay.

Spent the whole afternoon painting. I always think that it’s only going to take an hour or so, and it never is that quick. Especially when you’re painting the kitchen. Cutting it in took the longest.

I spent the rest of the night chatting with AI. Gemini to be exact, and for whatever topic you decide to talk to it about, I would always tell it to respond with no filter. This way it will respond to you with information that will actually help you. If you don’t, I’ve noticed that AI is more of a hype man than anything else.

09/26

Listed new Rebellion’s Call Foils on eBay.

I keep trying to figure out these BeyBlades that I got in July. But, every time I just lose interest in them as soon as I look at them. I’ll give it one more shot, if not, I’m just going to sell them as a Bulk Lot.

09/27

It’s Game Day. And, what a game it was. we lost 6-0. Technically it was 5-0 but they didn’t call an Off Side. The kids was hanging out with our keeper while our line was at the midfield. Any way, I just figured out these are all just Exhibition matches, until the Tournament starts.

My kids were great. I never felt more proud. My son ran, bumped the attacker off the ball, stole the ball and went on to counter attack all by himself. Where he was swallowed by 5 of the opposing teams players. It was a play I wish I recorded.

The ref gave him a warning, but the bump was perfectly legal it’s called a Fair Charge.

My daughter played good too, she was a Forward in this match. She created a lot of chances for herself, but she never took a shot. We’ll have to practice on that this week.

09/28

This Sunday was a lazy day.

Other than taking care of the Weekends orders, I just played 99 Nights in the Forest with the little ones.

And, then I played by myself. And, it’s a lot easier when you play by yourself. Sure, trying to get the Cultists alone is a bit harder, but there’s less of them to make up for it.

Picked up my wife after a concert she went to with her cousin, and we stopped by Lawrence Fisheries. Got a late night snack, and then it was off to bed.
