Dawn of Heroes – Lite Bright

20-127L – Shinryu

Where to start off?

5CP/9000 Power.

Shinryu can be cast technically for free if your opponent controls 3 more Forwards than you do. You’ll pay 2CP, and search for a card. Any card that you’d like.

Coming in with Brave, Shinryu will block almost any attack you throw it him.

And, just take a look at Tidal Wave.

You can cast it during your turn and Wipe Out your opponents Forwards in one simple play. Unless your opponents knows how to surf, they’ll be feeling it for a while.

20-128H – Materia

How many Light Characters do you need?

With Materia you can add as many as you’d like, and still be able to play them all on the field. No, we’re not reinventing the wheel, as this has been done since Opus I.

Materia enters the field and you gain a Crystal.

And with that Crystal, you can grab a Forward from the top 4 cards of your deck. If there’s no Forwards, you are out of luck.
With Materia’s second ability, you can exchange CP for Crystals.

So, if you’re running low, you know where to find them.

Materia is like your local drug dealer, she’ll give you the first Crystal for free, and then charge you, cause she knows you’ll need them.

20-129H – Spiritus

Almost the same as Materia.

Spiritus is working with Crystals, but he does things a little different.

Spiritus will give you a Crystal each turn, as long as you spend at least 2 Crystals each turn. You can always use 1 Crystal to give a Forward +5K Power.

And, with Spiritus on the field, you can play as many Dark Characters onto the field as you’d like.

I really should play Dissidia to figure out what’s going on. I just got easily bored with it.

20-130L – Zenos

I’m having a hard time trying to figure this out.

Let’s start from the top.

Zenos can be played from the Break Zone, but when he comes in from the Break Zone, Zenos will be removed from the game at the end of the turn.

When Zenos comes in you choose 1 Forward of 3 or less and Break it.

When it is put into the Break Zone. This is the part I don’t get. Are we talking about Zenos, or the card that we choose to Break?

I believe it is the Forward you choose to Break, but why would they even mention the card being sent to the Break Zone. (Mind you, this was written in April, when it was first announced.) It might have changed now.

Anyways, whichever card it is, it hits the Break Zone, and then your opponent either discards a card, or Zenos gains Haste.
At least the card looks good, we’ll figure out the rest later.

Opus XIV – Light/Dark Review

14-115L – Shinryu

Scary Good.

But, Shinryu’s ability counts on what Forwards your opponent controls. You might break all your opponents Forwards, you might not.

Now Shinryu’s second ability is what we’re here for.

At the beginning of each of your turns you get to reveal the top card of your opponents deck. If it’s a Forward, all your opponents Forwards lose 7K. If it’s not you draw a card.

But, most of all you get to see what the top card is. If it’s an EX Burst you might want to hold back on attacking depending on what it is.

14-116H – Macherie

Get ready to cast your summons.

For the most part you’ll be casting your Summons for 1CP less. But, if you Discard 3 Summons from the Break Zone you can cast them for 4CP less.

That makes a couple of Summons more CP friendly, Some that you wouldn’t have considered before due to their cost.

 

 

14-117L – Omega

Hmm, I’m having trouble understanding this card. Just because, it can’t be what I’m thinking. That would be too Powerful.
At the end of each of your turns, if there are no Weapon counters on Omega you place a Weapon counter on Omega. When a Weapon Counter is placed on Omega, Omega deals your opponent 1 point of Damage and removes all weapon counters from Omega.

If I’m reading that right that means Omega deals your opponent 1 point of Damage at the end of each of your turns.

Holy Cow!

14-118H – Sterne Leonis

He sure looks stern. Get it? No? …

Anyway, for 4CP you can reduce the cost of all your Forwards by 1CP. In which this card will pay for itself in the long run and keep adding value.

It’s true I didn’t give much attention to this card until now. Why? Because I had to read it and see what it says in order to write this quick review.

And if you don’t mind about removing Forwards from your Break Zone, you have plenty of options to choose from.

“Choose 1 Forward. Deal it 7000 damage.”
“Choose 1 Monster. Break it.”
“Until the end of the turn, all the Forwards you control gain +4000 power and Brave.”

It also does not state that you can only use these actions, once per turn. Which means you can use them as many times as you’d like. If you have enough Forwards.

The Epic of Gilgamesh

The first Opus XIV card that we were excited about. Or second. Can’t remember which one was spoiled first. Gilgamesh or Shinryu? Anywho …

On to the card.

“If you have 3 or more different Elements among cards in your Break Zone, Gilgamesh (FFBE) gains +1000 power, Haste and First Strike, and if you have 7 or more, Gilgamesh (FFBE) also gains Brave and “Gilgamesh (FFBE) can attack 3 times in the same turn.”

When Gilgamesh (FFBE) attacks, choose 1 Character. If you have 5 or more different Elements among cards in your Break Zone, dull it and Freeze it.”

And there you have it.

We went into detail in one of our Opus XIII unboxing videos about this card when it was revealed. But, ain’t nobody got time to go find it. Plus, we also have new cards that are out since the video went live, so it will change a bit.

First things first. Gilgamesh is a Powerhouse. He’s an 8K body, with Haste, First Strike and Brave. And he can attack 3 times per turn, and each time he attacks you choose 1 Character and you can dull it and Freeze it.

That is, as long as you take the time to get him to where he needs to be. Where does he need to be, well he needs 7 different elements in the Break Zone. Now that can be as simple as 3 Multi-element cards and either a Light or Dark card. But, you’ll want each of these cards to have a purpose in your deck.

But let’s take a moment and think of the cards that can work for this. About all the Primals. Especially Ravana, Savior of the Gnath. If you can get it off, Ravana and Gilgamesh can win you the game in 1 turn. And we can’t forget about Shinryu, Just an amazing Forward as well. These 3 cards are simply amazing, and if put together they are about the same power as Meteor. Or Flare, or Holy. You get the point.

Now to put all these cards together, you shall need Tyro (11-072R) as he can dull for any element. Personally I think Tyro is one of the best Backups out there if you’re playing any color combination.

Other cards that can benefit Gilgamesh, are Duke Larg (1-057R), I’m always a sucker for cards that add a little bit of power. And, Ysayle (6-022R) Which will allow you to search for him.
