Magic Hammer

Don’t look to closely into the Possessed Bookshelf.

Byblos – 16-038H
Monster
Evil Spirit
Category : V
Power : 7000
Hero

“When your opponent discards 1 or more cards from their hand due to your Summons or abilities, choose 1 Forward opponent controls. Dull it and Freeze it.

Damage 3 – (0): Until the end of the turn, Byblos also becomes a Forward with 7000 power and “When Byblos attacks, your opponent discards 1 card from their hand.” You can only use this ability once per turn.”

There we have it. A card that does not need any support from other cards. Byblos’ ability can go off with no help from another card. If you’re at 3 points of Damage, that is. Turn him into a Forward and attack. Your opponent will discard a card from their hand, and then you get to chose 1 of their Forwards and Dull, and Freeze it.

Other than that simply pop Byblos into any Discard deck and you are good to go. You’ll be draining your opponents resources in no time.

Pulse of Life

*Spoiler Alert*

It’s what everyone has been trying to do since the end of disc 1. Yes that was just in case you still haven’t played FFVII.

End Spoiler

Aerith – 16-067L
Forward
Ancient
VII
Legend
5000 Power

“The Forwards other than Aerith you control gain +2000 power

When Aerith is put from the field into the Break Zone, you may remove Aerith from the game. When you do so, place 3 Reraise Counters on Aerith.

At the begining of Main Phase 1 during each of your turns, if 1 or more Reraise Counters are placed on Aerith, remove 1 Reraise Counter from Aerith. Then, if there are no Reraise Conters on Aerith, play Aerith onto the field. This effect will trigger only if Aerith is removed from the game.”

Let’s just put aside Final Fantasy VII for now. Although I know most of us will just throw her in a VII deck based off of Cloud, Tifa, Barret and Marlene. Add in some Avalanche and you just added Aerith to the party.

But, we’re going to look at this a little differently.

We’re pairing Aerith with Enna Kross. The plan is to bring in the “Big Guns” and make them even bigger. For simplicity, we’re just going to stay in Earth.

Prishe (1-116L) : Prishe already comes in with 8K power, which is pretty good by itself. Add the 3000 and you get 11000 Power, which is enough to take down Bhunivelze. But, you can always use Auroral Uppercut and double that power, for a total of 22000 Power. You’ll probably never need that much power, but then again why do we always level up our characters to Lvl.99

Gabranth (2-081L) : Although no one really uses Gabranth anymore, it’s a good card to play towards the end of the game. When he costs 1CP and gives everyone Brave.

Y’shtola (12-119L) : Ok, so this one is Wind/Earth, but it still counts. Y’shtola will hardly take any damage. Ever. Period. And frankly she can’t be blocked by a Forward that would be able to Break her.

And, that’s just a few Forwards, that you can play. Any better ideas? I bet you have some. Let us know in the comments.

Crystal Dominion Prerelease Kit Preview.

We finally got a look at the Pre-release Kit, and the Theatrhythm Promo card, featuring none other than Butz .. I mean Bartz. Sleeves featuring Firion and 9 packs of Crystal Dominion goodness. And it shall be here next month. 6 weeks away if nothing goes wrong. Let’s see if Joe actually does something. Along with UPS, Fedex and Walmart. But, that’s  another story.

Now, we do have a card here, Let’s take a look.

Bartz EX
4CP/Wind
Forward
Category – Theatrhythm-V
Job – Wanderer/ Warrior of Light
Hero
8000 Power

“EX BURST When a Job Warrior of Light other than Bartz enters your field, gain (C).

If you have a (C), Bartz gains +2000 power.

When a Job Warrior of Light you control is put from the field into the Break Zone, you may pay (C)(C)(C). When you do so, play it onto the field. This effect will trigger only once per turn.”

Do you know what that means. You need a card Job : Warrior of Light that will also serve as your main card. Wait, What? Let me rephrase this.

Faris (12-128L) that is the card you will be playing. Or atleast I would. Think about it. Faris attacks for 8k not counting buffs. Even if she doesn’t break the blocking Forward. She will be sent to the Break Zone. You’ll bring her back for 3(C). And when she re-enters the field, you will gain (C). Which, even if you used your last Crystals, Bartz will still have his +2K power and Faris will deal 2k damage to a Forward for each Job Warrior of Light you control.

And come to realize it. Faris and Bartz are both Category : V as well.

Let’s see Warrior of Light Theme Deck become a thing. Now if we can only get Jack aboard. Maybe by Resurgence of Power.

Robel-Akbel

We’re starting off with a Bang! Spoiler Season is here like we’ve mentioned earlier this week and we just keep on going. Final Fantasy XI, we got Robel-Akbel. And with that …

On to the card

4CP – Earth
Forward
Category : XI
Job : Black Mage/Warlock Warlord
8000 Power
Legend

“When Robel- Akbel enters the field, you may pay (C).

When you do so, choose 1 Forward or Monster, Break it.

At the beginning of Main Phase 1 during each of your turns, choose 1 backup in your Break Zone. Add it to your hand”
We’ll just jump straight into that second ability. At the beginning of Main Phase 1, grab a Backup from your Break Zone. At the beginning of your opponents Main Phase 1, grab a Backup from your Break Zone.”

As Long as Robel-Akbel is on the field. You will be getting an extra 2CP you can use during each of your turns. That way you can have your reserve list of Backups in your Break Zone and grab them whenever you’ll need them.

You’ll probably be looking for a 2 cost Backup that has either an entry ability or an ability that hits when it is put into the Break Zone. That way you can keep recycling it over and over.

A card like Kazusa (3-026C). Your opponent will be discarding cards left and right while you’re just recycling Kazusa and another Backup.

As for the Crystal ability, upon entry, Robel-Akbel can Break 1 Forward or Monster. There are plenty of ways to gain Crystals, we’ve seen a couple already. And now we also have a Crystal Card available.

What other Backup would you pair Robel-Akbel with? Let us know in the comments.

Damageplan!

Back to Opus V for this Rare card, not that rare, just a rare rarity.

On to the card

3CP/Fire
Job : Samurai
Category : XI
Forward
7000 Power
Rare

“Brave

If you have received 5 points of damage or more, Ayame gains +3000 power.”

Simple card.

Gets more powerful toward the end of the game, where Ayame gains 3K power just because you received 5 points of damage.

Tenzen is a no brainer. You will play Tenzen whenever you play with Samurais. You’ll most likely be grabbing an extra card at the end of each of your turns. But, that is a given. What else can we do with Ayame?

Look no further than Final Fantasy XI Volker (5-020R), Cornelia (6-007R) Iroha (8-004R) are all good ones if you ask me.

But, are you playing Mono-Fire? Are you playing Samurais? Or are you going to play a deck that focuses on the Damage you receive? Playing with your back against the wall, where the more Damage you received the more powerful your Forwards get. Cards like Morrow (11-013R) which will attack twice per turn at 3 Damage. Gabranth that gains +1K for each point of Damage you have.

And since we’re talking about Damage, Tifa (14-120H), cause everyone loves Tifa. And at Damage 6 you can play a category VII character on to the field. So, you might as well play Cloud (14-065L) and Barret (14-121L).

Fire/Earth is the way to go as you already have Gabranth, and FFVII in your hands. Don’t forget Lebreau (1-030R) for that +1K Power.

What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
