29-039C – Ahriman

Ahriman pays for itself in the end.

More like a ticking time bomb if you ask me. And, I think I already used that term this set, so that must mean one thing. We have 6 different Monsters in this set that cost 1CP, and they let you draw a card when you use it’s ability.

Ahriman will deal a 5CP Forward (or more) 7000 damage.

Yeah that’s about it. Sounds more like a Bomb to me. That’s what they should have done. 6 different Bombs. Maybe next set.

29-040H – Adelle

A 2 cost, 7K body, with Haste that can attack twice in the same turn.

I’ll take it.

Although you do need to discard a card to get that whole effect, but it is worth it.

And, this can be the first card you play. 2 points of damage turn 1 before your opponent even has a chance to answer. If they don’t have a Summon that can get rid of her turn 1, they’re already down 2 points of damage and you haven’t even started playing. You can have the whole game won by turn 2.

Especially if you drew Roche turn 1 as well.

You’ll pretty much play Roche for free, and then play Adelle for 2CP, have them both attack, and well you know the rest.

29-041H – Alexander

A 3CP Summon that deals 5000 damage to 3 of your opponent’s Forwards.

3CP? 3 Forwards?

Coincidence?

I think not.

.

29-042R – Wol

You can’t say that you don’t like this card.

Wol is the Assassin that we’ve all been looking for. Especially for those High Powered Forwards taht your opponent controls. All you need to do is find a way to get Wol to deal damage to your opponent.

And, luckily he can do that all by himself. As long as you have Crystals.

Cause you can just use that Crystal to give Wol the ability that states “Wol cannot be blocked”.

I’m already counting my Crystals.

29-043R – Aerith

I’m trying to figure this one out.

If a Final Fantasy VII Character is put from your hand or deck into the Break Zone you get to add it back to your hand.

Does that mean, when you pay for a S ability that the card will come back to your hand? If it does then this card is awesome.

If not, and if it’s only to protect your hand from turbo discard then that is good as well.

I would like to see this card in action before I decide if I like it or not.

29-044C – Elmyra EX

We have a new job. Sector Five Undercity Resident.

Yeah, that’s it.

Elmyra will search for Aerith.

Elmyra can also protect Aerith whenever she is chosen by your opponent’s abilities.

You can also search for Aerith off of the EX Burst.

29-045C – Dancer

Dancer comes right in and reveals the top 5 cards of your deck in search for a 3 cost Forward. Yes, she’s looking for a partner. Ok, that wasn’t my best work. But, that’s besides the point.

If you do find a 3 cost Forward, Dancer just became a 2 cost Forward.

Dancer will activate at the end of your turn. This way you’ll always have a blocker ready to go.

29-046L – Garuda (XVI)

This is not bad. I actually had the Benedikta/Garuda duo in my prerelease deck. Sadly, I didn’t have enough WInd cards in that deck to actually make use of it.

If you’re running Mono-Wind on the other hand, this is a no Brainer.

You play Benedikta, you Prime into Garuda, and you play one of the 2 cards from the top of your deck. And if Garuda deals damage to your opponent, you can run that ability again. And, again.

Aerial Blast? If you have the CP go for it. But, if your opponent finds a way to block it, then you’ll be out of luck as it might leave you with no way to counter if this ability gets blocked or canceled.

Still, it’s a good choice if you have your opponent with 6 points of damage and a big front line.

29-047C – Chloe

And, you thought that, that was it with the Chocobo support.

Guess you were wrong. So was I.

Chloe comes in and every time a Chocobo enters the field she activates. Yes, this only trigger once per turn but, that’s all you’ll need.

Why?

Because, you’re activating her, just to use her ability, which is granting a Character protection from your opponent’s abilities. And, that protection is called, not being able to be chosen by those abilities.

At 2CP, this is a good choice. A great choice.

29-048C – Billy

Oh wow. How is this a common?

Billy comes in for 5CP, Billy searches for a Chocobo of 3CP or less and plays it onto the field. You’ll probably search for Chocobo (6-050) Cause why wouldn’t you? And, if you don’t, I’d like to know which Chocobo you’re searching for.

Oh, and let’s not forget that all your Chocobos gain +3000 power.

And, once again. How is this a Common?

29-049H – Sophia (SOPFFO)

Sophia is ready to give Stranger of Paradise a shield. One that will reduce damage dealt to SOPFFO Forwards by 1000. Which is good, that could be the difference your Forwards need to not break.

At 4CP, Sophia comes in and grabs a Wind Character from your Break Zone and plays it on to the field. 4CP = 2 casts.

Yes, you’ll need another Stranger on the field for this to work, but you’re probably already have a couple if you’re reading this.

29-050C – Chocobo

I’d like to see Chocobos make a comeback, and this card, just might help.

First off it’s a Chocobo, and for 3CP you get a Forward with 7000 power. Once Chocobo comes in you can dull a Wind Forward, and that will give Chocobo Haste.

Chocobo can now attack, and when it does, you will look at the top 3 cards of your deck, and add a Chocobo to your hand, bringing Chocobo’s cost down to 1CP.

Pair this with a whole bunch of other Chocobo’s, A Bartz, and that Ace LB from Hidden Hope, and you’ll be set.

29-051C – Stray Chocobo

Are you seeing what I’m seeing?

Stray Chocobo, is the perfect Wind Forward to dull when Chocobo 25-050C enters the field.

Why?

Because as soon as you dull Stray Chocobo, Stray Chocobo will activate itself. And that’s not the only thing, Stray Chocobo will also give one of your Forwards +1000 power until the end of the turn.

And, you can give that +1000 power to Chocobo, as it gets ready to attack now that it has Haste.

29-052H – Bartz

And, the list goes on.

Bartz enters the field and grabs 2 Chocobos from the Break Zone. And you better be grabbing Stray Chocobo, and then any other Chocobo it doesn’t matter which one, because you’re just going to use it to pay for the cost to cast Stray Chocobo.

Why?

Because when you dull a Chocobo, Bartz gains Haste, and his power becomes 9000. Meaning Bartz can attack, and whenever a Forward you control attacks you can choose one of your opponent’s Forwards and deal it 4000 damage.

Meaning, that if you have a swarm of Chocobos on the field, you can ping to victory!

29-053R – Benedikta

A 4 cost Forward with 8000 power. Pretty normal.

Benedikta comes in and activates 2 of your Wind Backups. And then you can use those Backups to pay the cost to Prime her into Garuda. And what does Garuda do? Well, I heven’t seen it yet.

But, we’re pretty sure it’ll be something good.

Plus Benedikta gains Haste if any Eikon has been removed from the game.

29-054R – Great Malboro

This is a slight setback for your opponent.

Great Malboro comes in and you will remove 2 cards from your opponent’s hand from the game. The good thing is that you get to take a look at their hand. This way you know what they have, and once you remove those 2 cards, they won’t be able to get them back until the end of their turn.

Meaning that you will know what they can counter, and most of what their next play looks like.

Plus, if you have 5 Backups Great Malboro becomes a Forward, and you can use him to block attacks left and right unitl it is sent to the Break Zone.

After that, you can just play another Great Malboro.

29-055C/15-058C – Dragoon

A lot has changed since Crystal Dominion came out.

But, Dragoon stays the same. Other than the Kain part, we’re sticking to this.

“You’ll need Dragoon to keep Kain on your side.

Other than that he enters the field. Gives you a Crystal. And finally you put him in the Break Zone and he gives 1 Forward First Strike.”

29-056R – Lucil

Yes, If you’re playing Chocobos, you’re playing Lucil. No questions asked. Period.

Why?

It’s simple really, Lucil is a free play. Once you have 3 Chocobos on the field, Lucil will come in and you will draw a card. Which in turn will be the 2CP that you paid to cast Lucil.

Not only that, you can dull a Chocobo *cough Stray Chocobo cough cough* to make Lucil an 8000 powered Forward.

Add in the Rubi Asami art, and I’ll take 3 Full Arts.

29-057L – Luso

Yes, 8CP might seem like a lot to pay for a 5K body, but look at what you’re getting.

You get to search for 3 Forwards that cost 6CP all together. Meaning that you’re paying 2CP for Luso. And, that is cheap. Cause, you’re filling up your board. And they can be any element that you’d like. No restrictions here. Except that they have to be Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 Forwards.

Luso can also give Haste to a FFTA2 Forward whenever he attacks.

What’s not to like?

Journey of Light and Dark

27-109L – Cecil

Ok, I’m having trouble understanding this, but from what I do understand, is that Cecil chooses a Forward and they both lose power, less than Cecil’s power.

I’m guessing you target your opponent’s Forwards, and hopefully they lose enough power that they are sent to the Break Zone.

Cecil has 9000 power, so I’m guessing he will break Forwards with 8000 power or less.

Cecil also has another ability which will grant him 10,000 power. Thus making his first ability deadly. For your opponent.
I’m guessing this is what the card does. If it’s not, I’ll revisit it with a revised opinion on it.

27-110H – Bartz

Has anyone ever made a Final Fantasy V deck?

There’s more than enough cards to go about it. And, all of those Standard Units that Final Fantasy V has. You can technically build a deck with nothing but Bartz cards.

Well, we’re here to talk about this Bartz.

The Wanderer, the Warrior of Light.

If you already have 4 Final Fantasy V Characters on the field, Bartz gains Haste, First Strike and Brave.

And, when he enters the field, you can reveal the top 7 cards of your deck and add 2 Final Fantasy V Characters to your hand. Which should be easy, considering you’re playing a Final Fantasy V deck.

This brings Bartz’s cost down to 1CP. And, with 9000 power, Bartz will stick around long enough.

27-111L – Jack Garland

Garland is Garland in all situations. Check.

When Jack enters the field, you will pick one job, and Garland will not be able to be chosen by any abilities coming from that class. Class sounds so much better than Job.

And, at the end of your turn, Jack will remove one Forward with said Job from the game.

You’ll slowly be getting rid of your opponent’s Forwards, and they will be playing catch up to try and get their front lines operating once again.
.

27-112H – Snovlinka

Snovinka comes in and you get to choose from 2 enter the field abilities.

The first one gives Snovlinka Haste, and every time she deals damage to your opponent or to one of their Forwards, you will double that damage.

The second one deals 8000 damage to one of their Forwards.

Both are good abilities, but what if you can do both?

Well the good news is that you can. The bad news is that you’ll need to have 5 points of damage to do so.

And, when you do have 5 points of damage. Her second ability that deals 8000 damage to one of your opponent’s forwards, will now become 16,000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

Unless you’re opponent has a counter to Snovlinka, you will be breaking a Forward when she enters the field.

Gunslinger in the Korner

08/04

Midnight Prerelease took a beating on me once again. The older I get the longer it takes me to recover.

Talked to my distributor today, We’re getting our full order. No allocations this time, which is good. Gunslinger in the Abyss is already up for Pre-Order, Hopefully by the time you read this they’ll be sold out. And, hopefully we’ll be able to get a restock.

We’ll be getting the Full Arts up sometime this week.

08/05

Back to the 30 day plan. Checked the contact page, and everything looks good. You can use this page for any questions or comments. We read every singles one of them. If we didn’t why would we even have one?

Took care of our First look at Earth today. That is up. 4 more to go. We should have Lightning up tomorrow. Our Booster Boxes should be coming in tomorrow, along with a small restock of Legacy Collection.

08/06

Everything is here, and we are ready to Rock N’ Roll!

What better way to start than to open up a couple of boxes. And we did.

But first we needed to go to Home Depot, and pick up some paint for the kids’ room. Then we need to find something for dinner. Then we have to take care of orders. And I think that was all of it.

Time to get to recording, cause well we like it, and apparently so do all of you, so thank you. It’s always great reading the comments and we reply to every one of them.

And, what a video it was. We pulled the Chase! Full Art! Golden Signature! One in every 2,160 packs! Bartz!

We’re going to have some fun, so stay tuned.

08/07

It’s the day before Gunslinger in the Abyss officially releases, and we have a ton of work to do.

Spent the day sorting and listing. And, we’ve got our orders on top of that.

Plus took a couple of hours in between all the work, to start painting the kids’ room. I didn’t make it to bed until 2AM, and I have to be up early as always.

You’ll ask is it worth it? Yeah, I love every second of it.

Oh, and our thoughts on Lightning are up now. We got 3 left. that’s 3 more days.

08/08

It’s that time!

Release date. We got all our listings up, and we’re going to put the Full Arts up on the site today.

These Legends are selling like hot cakes! And, that’s what we all want. Right?

Finished up with Water today, and that is online as you read this. You might have already read it, and if you didn’t well it’s there for you to check out.

08/09

Haven’t gone to the Flea Market in a while. So, I decided to head over there today. And, today is one of those days that I should have missed. I found nothing. No Video Games, No Cards, No Shoes, No Toys.

That’s all right, there’s always next time.

We’re almost out of stock with Gunslinger in the Abyss. Kits are flying, Boosters are rolling. And we should be looking into getting a restock soon enough.

I was so out of it when I got home, I just sat at my desk and stared at my screen, till I decided it’s time for bed. I’ll take care of the orders tomorrow.

08/10
Had to take care of yesterdays orders in the morning. Luckily it’s Sunday, and I won’t be able to ship anything out until Monday.

Game Knights Chicago was holding their Local Qualifiers today. I decided to stop by and say hi to everyone. And, I’m getting that itch to play again. So, I’m going to try and make it out to the locals this week. Also picked up some Playmats from them. I didn’t get a chance to get some of these in stock. So, I picked some up for myself. Vivi and Lightning!

Finished up some more orders and called it a night.

Shop for these Singles and more at our TCG Player Store!

26-041 – Ashe

Ashe looks like she just came out of Revenant Wings. And, on closer inspection, it says Revenant Wings right on the bottom.

First look shows us that if you have 3 Final Fantasy XII Characters on the field, Ashe’s cost will become 2CP. And, with that 2CP you get a 9K body. Who would have thought that the Queen would be a Meat Shield?

And, that is not the reason that you will play this Legend. All of your Forwards, except for Ashe will gain +2000 power. Pair that with Maria (1-083H) and all of your other Forwards will have +3000 power.

And if you need to reduce the damage dealt to one of your Forwards, all you need to do is dull one of your Final Fantasy XII Characters, and that damage will be reduced by 2000. This along with Ashe and Maria, gives your Forwards a 5K buffer zone. I’ll take it. Might even decide on some Sky Pirates one day.

26-042R – Alexander

That’s it? 3CP to break a High Cost Character?

And, if you don’t have the CP you can just dull 2 Wind Forwards?

This is great!

I’ll take 3 of these, even if I don’t have a Wind deck at the moment.

This card will see plenty of use.

26-043R – Vaan EX

Did we already say that Sky Pirates are making a comeback?

They might be, and Vaan is here to help with that.

We won’t even talk about his enter the field ability, where you can add a Sky Pirate to your hand from the top 3 cards of your deck. Or the fact that, this ability comes off of an EX Burst as well.

Nope, we’re going to talk about his second ability, which states that every time a Sky Pirate enters your field, you will activate 2 of your Backups. Vaan pays for himself right away. 2CP from the Sky Pirate you grab when he enters the field, and 2CP every time a Sky Pirate enters your field.

Vaan will give you positive CP, which is always good for Wind.

After that Vaan is just a Meat Shield.

26-044C – Sky Samurai

“Samurai of the Skyyyy,
Attack and Activate Myyy,
Backups, we can do it thriiiice”

I’ll leave that to the professionals.

Imagine having a Forward that can activate a couple of Backups every time they attack. Now think if you can have 3 of those Forwards on the field at the same time.

And, that Forward gains +2000 power when they attack!

I think we have something here. All decks playing Wind should have 3 of these.

It’s called Free CP. It’s even better if those Backups have abilities that you can use again.

And again.

And, again.

26-045C – Aerith

What can we say about this card? All you need is right there. On the card.

Aerith will activate all of your Final Fantasy VII Characters other than herself.

All you need to know is that Aerith should be usually played during your Main Phase 2. That way you can go all out and Attack with all of your Forwards. Play Aerith and have all of your Forwards ready to block.

And, that is that.

26-046C – Echo EX

Wol needs your help.

First off he needs help finding himself. Luckily Echo is here to help with that. Echo will search for Wol when she enters the field. This ability also comes off from an EX Burst.

Wol also needs some protection, and Echo can also help with that. If Wol is ever targeted by Summons or abilities, Echo will grant him protection in the form that Wol cannot be chosen by your opponent’s Summons or abilites.

Opus V Wol, I’m looking at you! You’re going to make a comeback!

26-047H – Oschon

I lost count of which of “The Twelve” I’ve seen. I’m thinking by the time I’ve seen Oschon it’s probably close to the end.

Oschon gains 1000 power for every other member of “The Twelve” That you have on the field. Giving Oschon a max of 16,000 from “The Other Eleven” And, there still are more ways to increase Oschon’s power. You might be able to get him into the 20s.

And once, Oschon has more than 10,000 power, Oschon will not be able to be chosen by your opponent’s abilities, and if he is dealt damage by any ability, that damage becomes 0.

Oschon might just be the main attacker of “The Twelve”

26-048C – Cloud

A Wind Cloud? Haven’t seen one of these yet.

5CP, or you can Warp Cloud for 2CP. Do you want to wait a turn? Or did you want Cloud in right this instance. Either way, if you can keep Cloud alive through out the match, Cloud will most likely be giving you a card every turn. Especially if you’re playing a Mono-Wind deck. Which is now possible with all the Final Fantasy VII Wind cards we have now.

You don’t even need to play Cloud in a FFVII deck, he’ll fit right in any Mono-Wind deck.
Focused Thrust? Yes, a special ability that will allow you to break a high cost Forward. 5CP or more.

26-049R – Cactuar Conductor

A 2 cost Backup, that can save your World of Final Fantasy Characters.

Let’s say Reynn, or Lann is about to be broken by one of your opponent’s abilities, Cactuar Conductor will come in and save the day. He’ll remove the Forward from the game and bring them back to the field at the end of the turn.

Or, does that World of Final Fantasy Forward have a great enter the field ability that you want to use once again, Cactuar Conductor is here to help with that as well.

Extra bonus points for Tonberry being featured on the card.

26-050R – Cissnei

I thought I already wrote this one.

Cissnei enters the field and you have 2 options. Either send a Monster to the Break Zone, or you can activate 3 Backups.

If you choose to activate the Backups, Cissnei becomes a free play. And, we here at Kardboard Korner like free.

Cissnei also has an ability that will deal 2000 damage to a Forward of your choosing.
That’s about it simple, effective and great art.

26-051C – White Mage

Are you looking for Break Zone removal?

White Mage is here for that. Why would a White Mage be removing cards from the Break Zone is not something I thought I would see. I would have given that to maybe a Time Mage, or a Necromancer.

Once you use White Mage’s ability, you will take 3 cards from your opponent’s Break Zone and remove them from the game. If one was a Water card, you’ll also draw a card. And then you will discard a card.

White Mage can be useful in a pinch.

26-052H – Sonon

Sonon is back, and I’ll say that this Sonon is the best Sonon so far, son(on).

You will play Sonon on the same turn that you play Yuffie, that way they both will have Haste, an they both will be able to form a party and attack.

And, once that happens, you will activate all of your Backups, and you will draw a card. Leaving you with plenty of options for your Main Phase 2.

Now the only question left is what Yuffie do we use? I’m sure there’s one in this set, although I haven’t seen it yet. (This was written a month before Gunslinger in the Abyss is released. No Yuffie yet.) I would say either Resurgence of Power Yuffie, where she activates all of your Forwards when she attacks, or Hidden Trials Yuffie, where you draw a card when she deal damage to your opponent. 2 Wind CP will make that Yuffie unblockable.

The Choice is yours, would you like to draw 1 cards, or would you like to activate all of your Forwards?

26-053L – Bartz

Warriors of Light get ready to use those Crystals!

Bartz is here, and ready to be put into any deck that has Crystal Generators. You don’t even need any Wind Elements in your deck, as long as you have Crystals ready to go. 3 to be exact. You can pay for Bartz with those 3 Crystals, and when he enters the field, you can look at the top 2 cards of your deck, and play a Character that costs 3CP or less straight to the field. The other card goes to your hand.

And if you don’t want to use Crystals, you can always just pay 8CP. Because at the end of the day, You will get at least half of the CP you used back.

After all is said and done, Bartz becomes a Meat Shield with 9000 power.

26-054C – Penelo

If you’re playing Sky Pirates, you might as well throw Penelo in, even if you’re playing with another Penelo.

Why?

Well, first off Penelo is a Free Play if you already have Vaan on the field.

Second, Penelo will show you the top card of your deck, and if it’s a Final Fantasy XII card you can add it to your hand. If it’s not you just put it back. This way, you’ll at least know what the next card is.

And lastly, Penelo will block an attack, just so you can use this card again.

It’s not the best Penelo, but what she does is great for a turn.

26-055H – Fina

Now this is interesting. Fina the Warp Mage!

Warping has now become that much easier. Warp any element that you’d like without worrying about what elements you have in your hand or on the board, because Fina will allow you to pay with any element that you have on hand.

And, when Fina enters the field she will search for a Character that can Warp. Allowing you to use her ability from the get go.

Fina also has another ability that will remove a Warp counter from one of your cards that are currently Warping.

This is a great card all around. 3 of these will always be good to have. Even if you don’t need them in your current deck, you might need them in a future deck.

26-056C – Gorger

It’s the Elemental Wind Monster in the Abyss.

Gorger becomes a Forward during your turn, and Gorger can not be blocked by a Forward that costs 3CP or more.

Pay attention.

When Gorger deals damage to your opponent, you will put Gorger into the Break Zone, Activate 3 Backups, and draw a card. After that you can play that card that you just drew, because you’ll have 3 extra CP that you didn’t have before.

Gorger would have been better if he wasn’t sent to the Break Zone, after it deals damage, but then Gorger would have been over powered.

26-057C – Millefeui

A one cost Backup that will allow you to draw 2 cards down the line.

Millefeui isn’t a bad card to have, as you’ll be getting 1CP per turn, and you pay a whopping 1CP to get Millefeui on the field.

Only drawback, which isn’t really a drawback, is that you need at least 15 Wind cards in your Break Zone.

Other than that it’s a decent card. I don’t see me using it though.

26-058H -Larsa

This card is hard to read. The way the Full Art blends with the words is just off putting.
Let’s see what Larsa does.

Larsa is made for a Final Fantasy XII deck, but that deck will not be Sky Pirates.

When Larsa comes in you will either grab Ashe, Basch or a Judge from your deck and add it to your hand. I’m guessing we’re going to see more Judges here, or a Final Fantasy XII Royal Family deck, where Rasler will finally have a deck to be in.

Larsa will also sacrifice himself when a Final Fantasy XII Forward is sent into the Break Zone. And you will then add that Forward back to your hand.

I’d just change the art, make it a bit more readable.

26-059R – Llymlaen

Here is the first card that you will want to play when playing “The Twelve”. Llymalaen will allow you to cast “The Twelve” with CP of any element. No need to worry about how you’re going to pay for each member, when Llymlaen is on the field.

And, Llymlaen’s cost of 2CP makes her even better.

Is that all?

Nope.

Llymlaen will also protect one member of The Twelve when they are chosen by your opponent’s Summons.

26-060C/15-058C – Dragoon

Here’s a reprint, of a reprint, of a reprint.

So, we’re just going to, you guessed it, Copy/Paste from Opus XV Crystal Dominion.

“You’ll need Dragoon to keep Kain on your side.

Other than that he enters the field. Gives you a Crystal. And finally you put him in the Break Zone and he gives 1 Forward First Strike.”

And, there’s no Kain here, so that was useless.
