Kardboard Fantasy II

05/26

Finally got to test out that Ipod that I had, and you guessed it, there is something wrong with it. But, instead of spending time trying to fix it, I’m just going to try and sell it for parts.

Plus I ordered the AV Cable for the Dreamcast, and a new sensor bar for the Wii, and that bar should work for the Wii U as well. Now, that I’m thinking about it, I should have looked for the plug for the Wii U. Next time. I don’t even have any games for the Wii U.

Found some Final Fantasy VII Anniversary Art Museums, and they are now online.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to start reorganizing the office today. Hoping to move some things around and have more table space to work on, be it shipping, sorting, and listing. I’ll let you all know how that goes.

Trying to figure out how to get rid of all this Bulk I have that I have no use for. I’m talking about Sports Cards, Pokemon and every other TCG besides Final Fantasy. Probably going to start listing Bulk Lots on eBay. We’ll see how that goes.

You guessed it. It’s raining.

It always seems to rain when I need to head over to the Flea Market. Nothing found today, cause there was nothing to find.

I did notice that some Thrift Stores are starting to open earlier than they normally did. I don’t have much luck at thrift stores, but if I don’t have much else going on, it’s worth getting out.

I actually started working on the office today. It’s starting to look a little better, but everything is all over the place right now. It will slowly come together, once everything is organized I’ll be able to work side by side with my wife, and that is something that we have been planning for a while now.

Had to take my kids to The Forge today for a field trip that they had. It was out of the way, but it’s a nice drive down Cal Sag through the forest. Once you get off, you head down a dirt road until you reach it. I got excited, because I turned on the four wheel drive on the Jeep. Probably drove like that for half a mile, but it was enjoyable.

On the way back, I took Archer down to go through Willow Springs hoping to find a Garage Sale. Nothing. Nothing at all. I only found one Sale going on and that was a lady that has a Garage Sale every week, and she is always trying to sell the same stuff. Naturally, I skipped that one.

After I picked up the kids from school, I headed to a Thrift Store, and managed to find a Shrek button up shirt from Hot Topic. It still had the tags on and everything. I picked it up, and then we went for Ice Cream.

Friday, but this Friday is different. My kids are receiving awards at school, so it is my job to take the morning off and go and watch the ceremony. But, that doesn’t start till 12PM. TIme to go Saling? Saleing? Sailing? (How would you spell it?)

It’s starting to get better. There’s a lot more garage sales out there. I’m guessing it was the chance for rain that kept people inside.

Managed to find a PS2 with controllers, memory cards, and 4 games today. And, a bunch of Basketball cards, which I knew I shouldn’t pick up. But, I did. Nothing really good was in there.

Last day of May, and it’s Saturday. (Hey, that rhymes!) That means we’re off to the Flea Market. Once again we’re going to 3 separate ones. Alsip, Robbins and Chicago. Wake up early and I’m bringing along both the kids today. They actually like going.

Alsip is first as always. Lots of good stuff, but not at the prices we’re looking for. Until I ran into a Crystal Red 2DS. The gentleman said he didn’t know if it worked. That’s ok, at the price he was asking, I’ll take a chance on it.

That’s all that we got over there.

Robbins was next, 6 PS2 Public Betas and Demo discs. a PS4 Controller and a pair of Oogie Boogie Vans.

So far , we’re doing great. We could have stopped there and have been done for the day, but we still had money, and that means we can still buy more stuff. Off to 42nd and Ashland. That’s probably the biggest Swap around here. We probably walk around 3 miles at least to go up and down all the stalls.

What did we find? We found the coolest thing imaginable. Something you’d never think you would find at the Flea Market. Was it the Fortnite Leviathan figure? Nope. Was it the Supernatural Join the Hunt Collector Box? Nope again. I don’t even know why I picked it up. I should have left it there. All I want to do is throw it in the garbage.

Back on track.

So, what was it?

We found Cloud’s Buster Sword! It wasn’t actual size. It’s probably about 3 to 4 Feet long. My son was walking around with it sitting on his shoulder. He was just as excited as I was. As I’m walking around I see a gentleman spot the sword and his mouth dropped. You were 2 minutes too late buddy.

The Crystal Red 2DS didn’t work like it was supposed to. I listed it on eBay for parts, and I started getting offers for it right off the bat. It was gone within the hour.

June is here. And, I for one can’t believe it.

It was a lazy day for me. Just tested out 3 of the PS2 Public Betas. I didn’t try the Demo Discs cause they were still sealed, with a shipping label on them. Not much money in these, they’ll go up as a lot on eBay.

I spent the rest of the day putting orders together.

Then I passed out on the couch.

Starter Set Vol.1 and Vol.2

We have new Starters announced! And, this time they are not bundled together. You can choose which one you’d rather have. Cloud or Zack? Vol.1 or Vol.2?

From what I can tell, they are not Final Fantasy VII themed decks as the cards that were shown contain Characters from the different series. Lightning, Yuna, Luso, Charlotte, are all included in these sets as well.

Set for release in October 3rd, which gives us a Tentative release date for Opus XXVII for either October 31st, or November 7th.

Both of these sets come with a Full Art Foil of either Zack or Cloud.

And, for the first time these Starter Sets will also include a Limit Break deck as well.

25-001C – Armstrong

What a way to start the set, the first appearance of Armstrong in Final Fantasy TCG. You can consider this the Rookie Card.
Armstrong is a Monster with a strong arm, and he’ll use that arm to deal damage to your opponent’s Forwards.

Once per turn, you can use a Fire Card as Ammo for Armstrong. Each shot will deal 5000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

And, if you run out of Ammo, you can always just use Armstrong a deal a Forward 7000 damage.

It’s a decent Monster, I’d like to try it out. Hopefully at Prerelease.

25-002C – Iron Eater

I remember trying to build a Warrior deck a while ago, and Iron Eater would have fit right in.

At 3CP, this 8k body doubles as the perfect Meat Shield. Meat Shields are useful. Very useful as they block your opponent’s attacks.

You’ll only be playing Iron Eater if you are already playing Warriors. And, if you already have at least 5 Warriors in your Break Zone.

You’ll like to try and break Iron Eater, just so you can play him again.

25-003C – AVALANCHE Member

For 2CP you get a Forward with 5000 power.

And, when AVALANCHE Member enters the field you can discard a Final Fantasy VII Character, and AVALANCHE Member wil deal a Forward 7000 damage.

It’s like AVALANCHE Member is throwing the FFVII Character to it’s target.

It looks like we’re getting a whole bunch of FFVII Standard Units.

Might be time to get some no name VII decks going.

25-004H – Ifrit

Do you remember, how we keep mentioning that we need ways to remove Backups?

Well, here is another way.

We all know that there are certain Backups, well a lot of Backups that come in and after the ability goes off, you have no more use for them. Ifrit is here to take care of that.

You can remove one of your Fire Backups from the game, in order to reduce Ifrit’s cost by 2CP.

When Ifrit does come in, Ifrit deals 9000 damage to one Forward and 4000 damage to another.

I’d probably just be using this card to recycle my Backups, the damage is just an extra bonus.

And, since you’re playing Ifrit, might as well add Ifrita 9-002H to your deck

25-005H – Ace

I don’t get how this Ace is just a Hero.

You can get Ace down from 6CP to 0CP, just by having Class Zero Cadets, and Fire Characters on the field. The gives you a Free 8K Forward that is ready to deal damage left and right. And, that includes your opponent. Cause if your opponent has less than 5 points of damage, Ace will deal them one point of damage at the end of each of your turns.

I’d say it’s worth paying the 6CP at the start of the game. Then your opponent will be trying to get rid of him before he does too much damage.

And, Jackpot Shot. Ace will deal 2000 damage to a Forward for every Class Zero Cadet and Fire Character that you have on the field.

Cadets are on Fire!

25-006L – Cloud

Of course Cloud is going to be OP!

5CP to play Cloud, and you can say that, that is a great deal, for what you will get in return.

Cloud has 5 abilities, and you get to choose 2 of them when he enters the field.

Deal a Forward 8000 damage. Break a Monster. Remove 2 cards from your opponent’s Break Zone and draw a card. Play a 4 cost or less FFVII Character from your hand onto the field.

You can not go wrong here.

Worse case scenario, you Break a Monster ,and draw a card.

Best case?

You start a Combo going that will fill up your front lines. And, that’s where the ball starts rolling into an AVALANCHE.

25-007R – Glenn

8CP to play Glenn! 8CP?

8CP for 8K power.

Is that worth it? Yes, you should read the whole card before you decide.

Glenn comes in and you can search for not 1, but 2 SOLDIERS and add them to your hand. That brings hid cost down to 4CP and that alone would make the cost well worth paying for.

But, Glenn’s not done yet.

You can then play 2 SOLDIERS of 2CP or less from your hand, straight to the field. And that technically makes Glenn a Free Play!

And, who doesn’t like Free Plays?

And, after all of that, you still have a Meat Shield on the field.

25-008C – Security Officer

Security Officer ready to check your badge when you come to the door.

For 3CP you can draw a card.

Or you can deal 5000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

You can choose either one.

Or you can choose to play another card.

This would have been a better card if it’s cost was 2CP, and you can play it off of Glenn.

25-009C – Sice

This is what I would call a throwaway card.

I’m not saying that cause I think it’s bad.

I’m saying it because, once you have 5 Cadets on the field, Sice will come in with Haste and deal 3000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

And, then when she attacks, she’ll deal another 3000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

She’ll probably get blocked and be sent to the Break Zone, but you already dealt 6000 damage to a Forward. I’d say that’s 1CP well spent.

25-010H – Salamander (III)

3CP plus an extra cost.

And, that extra cost is why you will be playing Salamander. For an extra 5CP, or 2 Crystals, you will be able to deal 9000 damage to 2 of your opponent’s Forwards.

We’ll go with Crystals, because we spent 8CP on Glenn earlier.

The good thing about Salamander’s ability is that it can go off every time that Salamander attacks. All you need to do is find your Crystal Generator, and start stockpiling those Crystals. If you can do that and have 2 Crystals available when Salamander is about to attack, your opponent will have a hard time trying to keep his front line filled.

If you would have asked me, which you didn’t, I would have had some type of Priming going on with Gutsco and Salamander.

25-011C – Deuce

Yes, … well are you playing Cadets?

If you are then Deuce will be of use to you.

When she enters the field, you’ll look at the top 4 cards of your deck, and if there is a Class Zero Cadet there, you can add them to your hand.

What? You’re not playing Cadets?

Then what are you reading this for?

Move Along.

25-012C – Trey

Class Zero reporting for duty!

Even as a Common, Trey will deal enough damage to break a Forward. 2000 x all the Class Zero Cadets that you control. And, if you’re playing Cadets, you’ll most likely have a board full of them by the time you decide to play Trey.

After that, you’ll probably just want to have Trey block a bunch of high-powered Forwards, just so you can play him again.

I’m thinking it’s time to build a new and improved Cadets deck.

25-013C – Palom

The child prodigy returns, but this time there’s nothing special going on.

This time Palom comes as a Backup, which he usually does stay on the back line, since his spells will cause the same amount of damage, whether he is on the front lines or the back lines.

I’ve gone off topic, but you get the picture.

Palom has 2 abilities, one deals 3000 damage, and the other 7000 damage.

And, that’s about it.

25-014L – Volker

We were just talking about Warriors.

Volker here, will be the glue that holds it all together.

At 7CP Volker’s cost might seem a little steep, but look at what you’re getting.

Volker enters the field, and you will search for 2 Warriors. Ok so far so good. That just brought Volker’s cost down by 4CP, thus making him a 3 cost Legend. But, we’re not done yet.

The Next Warrior that you play will have their cost reduced by 3CP. And, that makes Volker a Free Play.

Might we suggest that you grab and play Iron Eater. And then you’ll also be dealing some damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

But wait, there’s more!

Any time one of your Warriors gets sent to the Break Zone you will choose one of your opponent’s Forwards and deal it 4000 damage.

Add all this to a 8K body and you have one hell of a Legend.

I’ll take it!

25-015R – Hell House

First Armstrong and now Hell House. We’re building a neighborhood here on the front lines. Or is it the sidelines? Either way the front yard is where your Forwards will be ready to protect you.

Hell House comes in as a Monster, but once per turn Hell House can become a Forward with 7000 power.

At 3 points of damage, whenever Hell House attacks, it will deal 3000 damage to all of your opponents Forwards.

At 5 points of damage, Hell House will deal 5000 points of damage to your opponent’s Forwards whenever it attacks.

Just throw this into any Fire deck, and you’ll do good.

25-016R – Rubicante EX

Now this is interesting. I know that Golbez was spoiled with all of the Archfiends, and if the rest are like Rubicante, I can tell that Golbez and Co. are going to be fun to play. Against them will be a different story.

Rubicante comes in and does nothing. But, whenever Golbez attacks, you can choose a Forward and deal it 8000 damage.
And, let’s take some Final Fantasy IV elements into the TCG by giving Rubicante the ability to be immune to certain elements at certain points. That point is whenever you’d like, as you can just pay the cost of 2CP, one Fire one any color, and Rubicante will not be dealt damage by abilities of that Element.

At 4CP, you get an 8K body that will keep attacking with Golbez.

Oh, and the first ability comes off of an EX Burst as well.

25-017R – Red XIII

At 1CP, any card is worth a shot. At least once.

Red XIII enters the field and gives one of your Forwards +3000 power.

After that, Red XIII is good to block an attack.

You can also play Red XIII from the Break Zone. But, only during your Main Phase, and only if you have at least 2 Final Fantasy VII Forwards on the field.

If for any reason Red XIII leaves the field, he will be removed from the game instead.

Like I said, it’s 1CP. You can try it out and see if it works for you.

Hidden Legends of Earth

24-055R – Ash

I really need to play Stranger of Paradise at some point.

Ash looks like he is the perfect Meat Shield.

Whenever he blocks, or is blocked he gains +3000 power.

And, since Ash already has Brave, you don’t need to worry about keeping him for defense.

Just add in Enna Kross, and I’m sure there are other cards that will give Ash a buff, and you’ll be set.

Let’s not forget about the Crystal you gain anytime Ash is targeted by Summons and abilities.

24-056C – Cu Sith EX

Well, we kept saying we need a way to remove Backups once their use is gone, and here we have it.

Cu Sith allows you to remove a Backup from the game, and then you can draw a card.

The other ability is to protect one of your Forwards from damage.

Both are pretty decent abilities. And, depending on the situation, wither can make Cu Sith a good play.

If you’re Backup heavy and you like rotating your Backups, once they’ve come in.

I mean once you’ve played the Backup and searched for the card you want, that Backup is taking up the place of another Backup that can come in and have a new ability trigger.

24-057C – Cloud

Really?

They gave Cloud a Violin?

Cloud comes right in and for an additional 3CP, Cloud will Break a dull Forward.

Other than that, there is Braver.

Which allows you to, you guessed it Choose a dull Forward and Break it.

I can’t really see Cloud playing an instrument, he’s probably the kid in the corner too cool to do anything.

24-058R – Titan (XVI)

Titan, coming in with Brave and a 9K body.

This Eikon already has built in protection from being dulled by your opponent.

Yes, you can Prime into Titan, but if you don’t Titan will cost you 6CP, and when he comes in he will deal 9000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards. But, they can block it by paying 3CP. Either way you’ll get something out of it.

Now, all we need is to see what Hugo does, and if it is worth Priming into Titan.

It usually is.

24-059R – Cactite

Cactite might look tiny, but he is a huge Monster.

Cactite can easily break a dull Forward regardless of cost. Sure the MS Paint art style might make you think that this card will be worthless, but the 2CP you’ll pay to play Tiny Cactus onto the field is worth it’s weight in gold.

I’m not saying the art is bad, it’s actually pretty cool, just different.

Anyways, whenever one of your Forwards attacks, you can toss Cactite into the Break Zone and break one of your
opponent’s dull Forwards.

Simple as that.

And, you can have 3 of these on the field at the same time.

24-060C – Noctis

The Prince and a his Cello. Or is that a Double Bass?

Any ways, Noctis comes right in and let’s you grab an Earth Forward from your Break Zone, and play it straight to the field.
After that you have a body with 8000 power.

6CP, might be a bit high, but you’ll be playing 2 Forwards.

And that, I think is worth it.

Should you play this card instead of another Noctis, probably not, but you can just throw this one in any Earth deck, and he’ll do fine.

24-061L – Basch

Just place Basch in your deck, and you’ll do great.

5CP is worth playing this card. I’d even pay more for it.

Basch comes in and doesn’t do anything right away, but at the beginning of any Attack Phase, Basch will give all of your Forward +2000 power and Brave. We don’t even need to mention his other ability, because you will probably never use it. I know the chances of me using it is close to none.

What’s the other ability?

Reveal the top 3 cards and add a FFXII card to your hand.

No need for that, not when you have +2000 power and Brave for all of your Forwards.

We forgot to mention that, if you already have 2 Final Fantasy XII Characters on the field, Basch’s cost is reduced by 3.
Making him cost a whopping total of 2CP.

24-062C – Bangaa

I got excited for a moment. I read the card wrong and thought that Bangaa was the perfect fir for Basch.

Rereading the card, Bangaa is still decent, just not as good as I thought.

Bangaa comes in and you draw a card, bringing his cost down to 1CP.

After that depending on how many Earth Backups yoou have on the field, Bangaa will give all of your Forwards +3000 power and Brave until the end of the turn.

You can still use this with Basch when you do have another 3 Backups on the field, giving all of your Forwards +5000 and Brave.

This is where you can use Cu Sith.

24-063H – Hugh Yurg

I always liked the look of these cards.

At 4CP, Hugh Yurg allows you to search for an Earth Forward with the cost of 1CP, and play it straight to the field.

And, once that Forward enters the field, you can choose a Forward and give it +2000 power and Brave.

And, Hugh Yurg isn’t even done.

Not only is Hugh a body with 8000 power, but every time you play a 1 cost Forward on to the field, you will give another Forward +2000 power and Brave.

I think I’m seeing a pattern here.

24-064R – Hugo

The answer is yes.

You should Prime Hugo into Titan.

I mean why wouldn’t you.

You can still play Titan (XVI) right from your deck, but if you Prime into him from Hugo, it’ll cost one less CP, and it’ll also cost your opponent 2CP more. Or not, depending on if they want one of their Forwards to take 8000 damage.

And, once that enter the field ability goes off, Hugo is just a meat Shield, so you might as well Prime into Titan (XVI) as soon as possible.

24-065H – Fenrir

A 2 cost Summon that will allow you to break a card equal to the CP of a card that you discard.

That just means that Fenrir’s cost is 4CP.

That’s about it.

While looking at the artwork, you notice that Eiko is on the card. I was hoping for some synergy between the 2.

It is a beautiful card, and that’s about it for me.

Prove me wrong.

24-066C – White Monk

Just like a ticking time bomb.

White Monk comes in and hangs out on the field, producing 1CP per turn.

And, when the time comes you can send White Monk into the Break Zone and Break a Monster that costs 3CP or less. An Earth Forward needs to have come into your field this turn, in order for you to be able to use this ability.

If you’re playing Earth, I’m pretty sure you’ll be playing Forwards each turn.

Not too shabby.

24-067R – Moogle (SOPFFO)

I can see activation and re-activation.

When a Forward enters the field, you activate Moogle.

Right before that, I hope you used his ability to give another Forward +2000 power until the end of the turn.

Then the aforementioned Forward will come in, where Moogle will activate again, and you will use Moogle’s ability to give +2000 power to one of your Forwards.

Rinse and Repeat.

24-068H – Morse

“– — .-. … .”

3CP, for an 8K body with Brave.

You could stop right there and it would have been a great Common, but Morse isn’t a Common, he’s a Hero. That means there’s more than just that.

When Morse enters or attacks, you can pay an extra Earth Crystal Point and choose one of your opponent’s Forwards, Morse and said Forward will attack each other dealing damage that equals their power.

Let’s not forget that Morse also gains +1000 power at 3 points of damage, and another +1000 power at 5 points.

Add in Basch and Moogle, and Bangaa, and you have a Sharpshooter ready to take down your opponent’s Forwards.

24-069C – Y’shtola EX

The more I see these Theatrhythm cards the more I thin that something is brewing.

I don’t think we’ve had Theatrhythm cards this good. Maybe it’s just me, or maybe I’m right.

Y’shtola comes in and grabs a Forward from your Break Zone, and if that was all she did, Y’shtola would still be a great card.
And, if you have at least 3 Elements on your front lines Y’shtola gains +3000 power making her an 8K body

 

24-070L – Lightning

Another Lightning, I believe we tied the record of consecutive Opuses? Opi? with Lightning. I’m not complaining. I was just expecting a Fang Full Art this set.

This is a great card, if I do say so myself.

And just like plenty of Earth Forwards, you don’t need to play them in their respective Category.

Lightning is a 2 cost Legend that can remove Attacking Forwards or Blocking Forwards from the game. And, once that happens, you will bring Lightning back to your hand, where you can replay her for the next block or her next attack.

You can also end up paying only 1CP of any color to bring Lightning out. As long as you have another card named Lightning in your Break Zone. This means you can splash this Earth Lightning into any deck that you’d like. No need for color fixing.

I’ll take 3.

24-071C – Rulgia

Another Warrior of the Crystal! Are we going to have 6 or is this the last one to make them 4?

Rulgia would have been great if he was a Backup.

Hanging out on the field, giving all of the Warriors of the Crystals +1000 power and Brave.

But, Rulgia is a Forward wth 7000 power, plus the 1000 power that he gives to himself.

The more I see the Crystal Warriors, the more I like them.

Kind of excited to try them out.

24-072C- Leo

Why not just make this card cost 5 Crystal Points instead of you needing to dull 4 active Characters?

Why?

Because, it would be too easy to break Forwards. And, since Leo is just a Common it would have been too easy.

You’ll most likely want to build up your Backups quickly, that way you won’t have to worry about whether or not to use this card.

Another Restock, For 2024

Yes it’s true, we managed to get our hand on more of these Anniversary Collection Sets. We were sold out of these in minutes after they went live. I don’t think they’ll sell out that fast this time, but just in case they do, you were warned.

We’re not going over MSRP for these, even though we have seen them elsewhere for much higher.
