From Nightmares – Thunderbolts and Lightning

19-069R – Emperor (FFL)

5 cost Forward with an S-ability that has a 50% chance to turn the tide in your favor. More than 50% depending on what cards you’re playing. But, if you’re not playing any Summons or Monsters it’s 100%.

Black Box, the abilities of abilities. Depending on what is the top card of your deck you can either deal 8000 damage to all the Forwards. Dull and Freeze all the Characters, or draw 4 cards.

Either of the first 2 will be very beneficial for you.

Add Glauca to the mix and he’s only a 4 cost Forward with a 9K body.

I’ll take 3 and throw them in any Lightning deck.

19-070C – Edge

It’s all about the Shuriken Counters.

Edge comes in with 3 Shuriken Counters, each one can be used to deal 5000 damage to a Forward. He does dull when he uses his ability, but after 3 turns, you can just block a Forward and recast Edge.

This way you can have Edge on the field for most of the game, just dealing 5000 damage a turn. A nice little way to keep your opponent at bay.

19-071C – Elgo EX

4 cost Backup that allows you to grab a Multi-Element Forward from your Break Zone.

After that Elgo just stays on the field and produces CP each turn, as any Backup would.

His enter the field ability also comes off as an EX Burst.

19-072C – Eald’narche

5CP/9K Forward that when she enters the field you can discard a card to Break a Forward.

Any Forward will do.

In total you will be paying 7CP to break the Forward, and then you’re left with a 9K body to deal damage or block attacks.

Almost like an Opus I Odin that will Break a Forward, but you get to keep this card on the field.

19-073C – Kain

Have we had a Kain as a Backup before?

Either way, this one isn’t half bad. Actually pretty useful with Back Attack.

If you have a Forward that is blocking another Forward, and your opponent buffs it to match the your Forwards power, you can play Kain and give your Forward First Strike. That way your attack will go through first. Breaking your opponents Forward.

Other than that, there really isn’t much use for it.

19-074C – Scholar

Cheap Backup to play, and is great when you have 3 points of damage.

When Scholar enters the field you can Break a Forward of cost 3 or less.

Not only that, but Scholar has an ability to deal 8000 damage to a damaged Forward. Most of the time this will break that Forward.

You get all this for 2CP.

19-075C – Chimera

If you don’t have a low cost Character on the field when you play Chimera, you don’t need to break it. This can also be a way to get rid of a Backup you don’t need on the field anymore to make way for a new one.

Chimera costs a measly 1CP, and it can also become a Forward.

This is a pretty decent Monster/Forward.

19-076R – Kuja EX

2CP Backup that Breaks a 2CP Forward or 1CP when he enters the field.

After that you can dull Kuja, chuck him to the Break Zone and dull a Forward.

19-077L – Golbez

Archfiends are back. If they weren’t a thing yet, they are now.

Golbez and the Warp Counters. Every time you remove one, you can play an Archfiend from your hand onto the field. They don’t even need to be a certain cost. Any Archfiend will do. And every time you do play an Archfiend, you can draw a card.
After that Golbez gives all the Archfiends +3000 power.

So many awesome cards so far, and so many decks I want to build. And so little time to do so.

19-078C – Jinnai

I don’t see it.

I mean you can pay the 4CP to activate Jinnai, to dull a Forward.

If the cost was a little cheaper, maybe 2CP it would have been better, but for 4CP to activate Jinnai, I believe there are better options to play.

But, Jinnai is only a Common, so that might be why the cost is high.

Other than that Jinnai is a 3CP/7K Forward.

19-079H – Moebius

Did I mention I like the Dream Stooges?

Well if I didn’t, now I did.

Moebius allows you to grab a Dream Stooge from the Break Zone. Which is a good thing.

If you have all the Dream Stooges on the field, they all gain +2000 power, making them a little more difficult to deal with.

I like it and I shall be making a Dream Stooge deck, just to have some fun. Add in Kefka and I can see something fun Happening.

19-080R – Vivi

Mono Lightning?

Might as well play Vivi, if only for the fact that all you’ll have in your hands is Lightning cards.

Simply play Vivi onto the field, reveal your hand and deal a Forward up to 14,000 damage.

It’s simple as that. He’s also a Forward so you can block an attack and then play another Vivi, and rinse and repeat.

Lots of value in this little play. It’s worth a try or 3.

19-081R – Behemoth

A second Behemoth in this set.

This one plays quite different then the Earth one.

When Behemoth enters the field, you can choose a Forward of 5CP or less and send it to the Break Zone.

After that during each of your Attack Phases, Behemoth will dull one of your opponents Forwards.

What you wanted to attack with that Forward? Sorry, he’s dull. Oh you wanted to block with that Forward, Sorry, he’s dull too.

If your opponent doesn’t have an answer for Behemoth, he’ll be playing with one less Forward. One he won’t be able to play again. Unless your dulling a Standard Unit, but why would you want to do that?

Did anyone notice the KO’d Onion Knight on the bottom?

19-082H – Lightning

This beautiful card comes in with Haste, And 9000 power.

It’s an interesting card if I say so myself. Because when she is sent to the Break Zone you can play a Category XIII Character from your hand onto the field.

And her other ability reads, discard Odin, and choose a Forward your opponent controls, break the Forward and Lightning.
Now, if you already have another Lightning in your hand, you can play her onto the field for free. It’ll be almost as she never left.

Who said Lightning doesn’t strike twice? Lightning can strike up to 3 times with this card.

19-083R – Ramuh

Lightning’s Free Forward is here, in the form of Ramuh.

Simply put, Ramuh deals 8000 damage to a 3 cost (or less) Forward.

That is usually more than enough to get rid of the low CP Forwards.

And, since it’s a free play, why not use it. I know I will.

19-084R – Ricard

Looks like Dragoons got a roll of the dice.

I like these types of cards, that let you reveal the top cards of your deck and hopefully finding what you’re looking for.
You won’t always get what you’re looking for, but there is always a chance.

And with most Dragoons being Lightning. I’m sure you’ll be able to find a Lightning card or two to choose from.

After the roll of the dice, Ricard has an ability that will give a Forward First Strike. You will send Ricard into the Break Zone, and that just means you get to play him again.

19-085C – Dragoon

Dragoon here comes in with Haste, and that is enough for me.

But if you’re playing with 3 different elements, and you paid the cost with 3, you can choose a Forward of cost 3 or less and Break it.

There are Dragoons in almost all of the Elements, which can make it somewhat easy to play.

Opinion on Starters : Rebellion’s Call

17-131S – Kain

Haste? Check
Way to reduce the CP cost? Check
Buffs self when attacking? Check

All in all Kain here is a decent card. You might end up only paying 1CP for Kain, and if you do he’s an attacking Forward with 9K power.

17-132S -Zemus

Kind of plays like Don Corneo from a couple Opus back.

But, as before to remove 7 or 1 cards from your deck is quite the number.

Unless you’re sure you’re going to win this game, it’s best to avoid using these abilities. But, you’re playing Fire. Go on Aggro yourself ahead and hope for the best.

17-133S – Scarmiglione

Interesting.

If you’re playing against a Mono-build this card is a perfect choice. If not, it’s still a good choice.

Scarmiglione comes in and you pick an element. Scarmiglione becomes twice as strong against that element.

And, Blood Tap? Yes that damage will increase as well. It’s a Special ability and since you don’t need to dull Scarmiglione, you can keep using it till you run out of Scarmigliones. With this one there are a total of 4 different Scarmiglione. Multiply that by 3, and you can see how many times you’ll be able to use Blood Tap.

17-134S – Baigan EX

Not much here, but Baigan does allow you to search for Golbez.

After that you can put Baigan into the Break Zone to break a Forward.

4CP/8K power. Average card.

17-135S – Edge

Same thing with Scarmiglione. Edge has an ability that triggers when he enters the field. Depending on how many FFIV Characters you have on the field, Edge can break a Forward. You can quite easily pick apart your opponent using Mirage over and over.

Plenty of Edges to keep on hand for this ability.

17-136S – Kain

Kain allows you to grab a FFIV Water Character from the Break Zone.Plenty of Characters that you can choose from.
Other than that he can come in with Haste depending on the field situation.

17-137S – Rydia

Search for a couple of Summons, one gets tossed to the Break Zone by your opponent.

After that each time you cast a Summon, you might be able to break one of your opponents Forwards. Especially if they are high cost Summons.

17-138S – Rosa

Decent card, better card if Cecil is on the field.

Even though Rosa is a Forward, she plays like a Backup, casting White Magic on your Forwards. Activate and a buff. All for a total of 0CP. You know you’ll be using her ability each turn.

17-139S – Cecil

There are better Cecils, but every time I say that, someone comes up with a way that makes this one even better than the other ones.

So, I’ll just say that Cecil here can have up to 10K Power with Brave.

That and if you dull your FFIV Characters, you can dull Forwards and deal damage and stuff.

17-140S – Golbez

Same thing with Cecil, but Golbez can act like a Summon as well.

Which unless you’re searching for another Golbez I don’t see the point in not paying the 2CP and keeping Golbez on the field.

But, you might say 6CP is a lot to pay for this card. But so is the 7CP Odin and all he does is break a card.

Rebellion’s Call & Kain

Well, I was wrong on who is going to be on the Box Art. I was close though. I said it could be Leon or Queen Hilda. What we got was Minwu. Minwu? Why Minwu? Is it perhaps to tell us that this set will be all about protection. Probably not. Minwu as we all know was the one who helped Firion, Maria and Guy, after they were beaten to a pulp by the Black Knights. So, I’m guessing support. Or just a little bit of everything as usual.

3 Legacy cards once again. nothing changed here.

-Firion (6-019L)
-Veritas of the Dark (8-136L)
-Y’shtola (12-119L)

130 card + 10 starters and 22 Full Arts leaves us with one more card, which will probably be another Crystal. 21 cards per element and 2 and 2 for Light and Dark.

We did get a look at some of the cards. Just artwork, but you can tell Serah, Penelo, Cissnei, Glaciela And Exdeath are all Forwards. And we know that 3 of them are Legends. Serah, Glaciela and Exdeath. Penelo is a Hero, Cissnei a Rare. And Our Summon Atlas. Just a Rare as well.

From these cards without knowing what they do. I’m interested in Cissnei and Glaciela. We always need more Turks support. Along with the Avalanche Vs Shinra Starter deck. I’m hoping we’ll be able to make that deck stronger. Turn Turks into the next Scions. We already have a great Starter Deck. Give us more cards to Overpower it now.

Speaking of Starter Decks.

Golbez Vs. Cecil

I wanted to write Golbez Vs. Kain for some reason.

You can actually say Kain Vs. Kain. As he is in both decks. Which Kain will reign Supreme? The one with a Evil Warlock in his corner, Or the one with a righteous Paladin?

Starter Cards

Fire
– Kain (17-131S)
– Zeromus (17-132S)

Earth
– Scarmiglione (17-133S)
– Baigan (17-134S)

Lightning
– Edge (17-135S)
– Kain (17-136S)

Water
– Rydia (17-137S)
– Rosa (17-138S)

Light
– Cecil (17-139S)

Dark
– Golbez (17-140S)

We’re seeing characters in elements that they haven’t been before. Kain makes his debut in Fire, and Rydia in Water. And Golbez is now a Dark card. That’ll be 4 different elements to his name.

(Hmmm, I wonder if we’ll ever get a Character that has a copy of himself in all elements. I’m guessing when it finally happens it should be Kain. But, that’s a story for another day.)

Full Art Foils included in this set as well. Both Cecil and Golbez will have one. I can’t say I know how these decks will play out, but they will be here before we know it.

Do you think Minwu was a good choice for the box art? Let us know.

Crystal Dominion – Wind P.o.V.

15-043R – Alexander

Reprint Wind Summon. Not bad, but would have been better is it was also an EX Burst

15-044L – Vaan

Can you pay both a Wind Crystal Point and a Ice Crystal Point? I believe so. And, that makes Vaan a card to play if you are running Sky Pirates. I might even make a Sky Pirate deck just to play this card.

All Sky Pirates cannot be blocked by any Forward of cost 3 or more. That means with a decent Buff, your Sky Pirates will be unblockable. Well, your opponent will be able to block against them, but they will most likely just have their Forwards broken.

Wind Crystal point to activate all Sky Pirates, and an Ice Crystal Point to reduce a Forwards Power by 2K for each Sky Pirate you control. (Read : break a Forward.)

15-045H – Edge

2CP to protect a Wind Forward from Summons or abilities that target them.

It’s a no brainer.

A Wind Illua. Somewhat, but what Edge lacks in Illua’s Haste and Sheol. He makes up for it in that he is able to change the direction of a Summon or ability onto himself in so that he can save Rydia once again.

It doesn’t matter that all Rydias are Earth. You get what I’m saying.

I sure hope so, cause I lose my thought process easily sometimes.

15-046C – Dancer

Just the ability itself, which allows Dancer to deal 2K damage to all your opponents Forwards. It can be activated by simply attacking with Dancer.

If that won’t work out this turn because there is a more powerful Forward on the field, Just use the other ability to give all your Forwards +1K.

Then the first ability will off at the end of the turn.

15-047R – Kytes

A way to save a Sky Pirate.

Is your Sky Pirate being targeted by a Summon or ability, or is he on the receiving end of an attack that is much too powerful for him?

Kytes here can help. By removing Kytes from the game, you can remove your Sky Pirate from the game and then return him to the field at the end of the turn.

Your best bet is to pick a Sky Pirate with a good entry ability.

15-048L – Kain EX

Attack and choose. Draw a card or Activate all the Characters other than Kain?

All the Characters? Characters?

Every time Kain attacks you can Activate your whole board?

Screw the extra card. Get me some blockers, and Edge, Opus I Maria, and anyone else that can help protect Kain.

Oh. And, some characters that will give me Crystals. Don’t want to lose Kain at the end of my turn.

15-049C – Garchimacera

For a moment there I thought that Garchimacera was a Backup. And then, I thought he was a Monster.

And then I thought it was Firebrand, from Gargoyle’s Quest.

But, my friends. This is Garchimacera, and it is a Summon. Reduce the cost by paying a Crystal and Garchimacera will cost

1CP. After that, choose to either Break a Forward of 5CP and up, or return a 1-2CP Forward to their owner’s hand and draw a card.

15-050C – Gigantuar

Enter the field deal a 5CP and up Forward 8K Damage.

After that wait for the perfect moment to turn Gigantuar into a 6K Forward, and have him attack or block and attack, because he will be broken at the end of the turn anyway.

15-051C – Shikaree G

Here to give the Sin Hunters some more Fire Power.

Shikaree G, along with the help of Shikaree Y will make Shikaree G unblockable, and be able to swing for some free Damage.

15-052C – Chocobo

Why just 1 Forward in the party?

There are better Chocobos that give the party far more firepower than this bird.

15-053H – Diablolos

1CP? That is all Diabolos costs? 1CP?

All Forwards Power is now 3000. That is if you already cast 4 cards this turn. Pair this with Ifrita and 6 Ifrits in the Break Zone and you have yourself a board wipe.

Too much work.

15-054R – Nono

Activate all Moogles?

Are Moogles going to became a new Archtype?

Nono and Good King Moggle Mog XII to be the main players.

Let’s see someone have a crack at it.

15-055H – Bartz EX

Bartz enters the field and gains a Crystal. With that Crystal in your possession Bartz gains +2K.

But, if you manage to acquire more Crystals you will be able to save a Job Warrior of Light from the Break Zone.

15-056R – Filo

Now this is what I call a backup.

Allowing Sky Pirates to produce either Wind or Water CP.

But, that’s not all folks.

Wind Soul. Which Sky Pirate shall we choose? Any one that has high power will do.

Filo also gives you a reason to run 3 copies of Filo (10-059R). 3 more Wind Souls coming right up.

15-057R – Maria

With the Rebel Yell, She want More, more, more.

Are we going to be able to build a decent FFII deck this time around? Maria here beats out Opus I Maria, but only if you’re playing with Rebels.

Maria, gives a buff to all the Rebels and also reduces the damage they take.

I see Rebels in my future.

15-058C – Dragoon

You’ll need Dragoon to keep Kain on your side.

Other than that he enters the field. Gives you a Crystal. And finally you put him in the Break Zone and he gives 1 Forward
First Strike.

15-059C – Llyud

Llyud is ready to fly. How do you even pronounce his name? Lloyd? Leeood? Leroy? Anywho, Llyud here is able to attack and give all your Warriors +3K. And if you have already taken 3 points of Damage he comes in with Haste. Then he’ll attack and
buff the Warriors.

15-060R – Leon

Leon has a look in his eyes that say, play your cards right and you’ll draw a card every time I attack. Llyud would be a great card to play with Leon.

And, like a good brother, Leon grabs his sister from the Break Zone if you have taken 3 points of Damage.

15-061H – Lehko Habhoka

How likely is it that you will have cast at least 3 cards this turn?

3 is easily done, but 5, might be tricky. But if you can manage to do that you’ll be able to search for an 8CP Character and play them onto the field.

And, until you end up casting 5 cards, you can always dull Lehko Habhoka for 1CP.

15-062C – Rem

2 cost Backup.

Activates 1 Character when she enters the field, and when she is put into the Break Zone.

You can easily put Rem into the Break Zone to gain a Crystal and activate a Character.

Rem will be in my new Cadets deck.

15-063C – Romaa Mihgo

Every time you draw a card, or just the one time?

Makes a big difference.

T-Minus 2 Weeks

We got a few weeks until Crystal Dominion is here, but Pokemon Fusion Strike is right around the corner. And the real question is “Where is Mimikyu?” Not in this set. We haven’t had a Mimikyu since Battle Styles. And, that my friends, is disappointing. This is where I should go on a rant. But, there’s not much to say about it. Next set. If there is no Mimikyu, I will raise hell. Period.

OK, I probably won’t. We all know that.

But, we will have some boxes available. They will be put up some time this week, as they go on sale this Friday. By some time this week, we mean as soon as we know how many we are getting.

What’s going on with the Midnight PreRelease Event?

We’re on schedule for Black Friday.
November 26th.

9229 S Cicero
Oak Lawn, IL 60453

Whoever wants to come out and try and win a Kit, can come out. Like we stated before $45 for the first kit and entry into the event. $40 for each additional kit after that. We’ll have booster boxes available as well. $100 for the boxes at the Midnight PreRelease.

War of the Visions

-Spoiler Alert-

Well, I finally beat Sterne after not playing for a week, being pissed because I didn’t want to waste my time leveling up Mont. But, I did want to find out what happens after. And I got a surprise. I didn’t expect that. I did not expect a giant crystal to come out from under Leonis castle. Sadali was excited. And, everyone knew that Mont wouldn’t kill Sterne.

But, now we’re in the Interlude, and well we finally got ourselves a ship. Can’t steer it anywhere except down the river. Into the fog. Where we get attacked by the Water guards.

Who would steer the boat straight into the fog in the first place. We all know that the fog is not a good place to be. Cecil and Kain know this very well, when they walked upon the Mist Dragon on their way to Mist, through the Mist Cave while they were walking through the mist. I know both Cecil and Kain no not to enter the Fog.

The townsfolk of Bridgton, Maine also know that you don’t enter the Fog that just rolls up from the lake.

-End Spoiler

Can’t think of anything else.

So, I might as well just get back to work.
