Kardboard Fantasy VI

09/22

Let’s start off the week right. Or just what we usually do. Finish up our “Week in Review” and get the Card of the Day scheduled for Instagram and Facebook.

30 day plan, and it said work on your Main Menu. And, our Main Menu is small and easy to navigate, so we didn’t have much to do for that today.

Tried installing the new lights, and for some reason I kept tripping the breaker. I had the lights off, which is usually enough to take make the change. I gave up as it was getting late. I’ll work on it tomorrow while I have some day light.

09/23

Got a new workstation for Kardboard Korner. A new/old workstation. Got to format it, and bring it back to it’s factory settings before I do anything with it. That will take up most of the day. But, luckily you don’t really need to stay on top of it, just take a look every now and then to make sure it doesn’t crash. Which it already did.

Starting to work on Rebellion’s Call today. A quick sort, and I should be able to do the restock tomorrow.

Had to do some running around for the restaurant which put my lights on the back burner. Plus I took a nice nap. I had laid down for 5 minutes, and I was out.

09/24

I got a new laptop. The old one has been around since 2009. And, it’s still running strong .. ish. It will still get the job done, it’s just that whole Windows update. As of next month they will stop supporting Windows 10 and that old computer won’t run Windows 11. They’re forcing me to buy a new computer.

Actually, I was already looking before hand, probably a couple of years now, but you know what they say. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Kids had an early day at school, and Soccer practice afterwards. I had them do all of their chores and homework before hand, so we can spend the night playing 99 Nights in the Forest.

We tied our previous record. For some reason we just can’t get passed the 33rd day.

 09/25

Started the day off working on the Rebellion’s Call restock on TCG Player and eBay.

Spent the whole afternoon painting. I always think that it’s only going to take an hour or so, and it never is that quick. Especially when you’re painting the kitchen. Cutting it in took the longest.

I spent the rest of the night chatting with AI. Gemini to be exact, and for whatever topic you decide to talk to it about, I would always tell it to respond with no filter. This way it will respond to you with information that will actually help you. If you don’t, I’ve noticed that AI is more of a hype man than anything else.

09/26

Listed new Rebellion’s Call Foils on eBay.

I keep trying to figure out these BeyBlades that I got in July. But, every time I just lose interest in them as soon as I look at them. I’ll give it one more shot, if not, I’m just going to sell them as a Bulk Lot.

09/27

It’s Game Day. And, what a game it was. we lost 6-0. Technically it was 5-0 but they didn’t call an Off Side. The kids was hanging out with our keeper while our line was at the midfield. Any way, I just figured out these are all just Exhibition matches, until the Tournament starts.

My kids were great. I never felt more proud. My son ran, bumped the attacker off the ball, stole the ball and went on to counter attack all by himself. Where he was swallowed by 5 of the opposing teams players. It was a play I wish I recorded.

The ref gave him a warning, but the bump was perfectly legal it’s called a Fair Charge.

My daughter played good too, she was a Forward in this match. She created a lot of chances for herself, but she never took a shot. We’ll have to practice on that this week.

09/28

This Sunday was a lazy day.

Other than taking care of the Weekends orders, I just played 99 Nights in the Forest with the little ones.

And, then I played by myself. And, it’s a lot easier when you play by yourself. Sure, trying to get the Cultists alone is a bit harder, but there’s less of them to make up for it.

Picked up my wife after a concert she went to with her cousin, and we stopped by Lawrence Fisheries. Got a late night snack, and then it was off to bed.

Senior Chief Engineer

Cid Pollendina (2-057C)

“(D): Your opponent shows his/her hand.”

Need to take a look at what your opponent has in store?

Cid here will let you take a look, Best part is you can use it once per turn.

You’ll never be in the dark again.

Cid Pollendina (5-056H)

“When Cid Pollendina enters the field, your opponent reveals his/her hand.

If Cid Pollendina deals damage to a Forward of cost 5 or more, increase the damage by 4000 instead.

If Cid Pollendina is dealt damage by a Forward of cost 5 or more, reduce the damage by 4000 instead.”

Almost like the Opus II Cid, but this Cid let’s you take a look at your opponent’s hand when he enters the field.

Other than that, Cid is great against high cost Forwards. His attacks do more damage and the damage he takes is less.
Add that to the 8000 power he already has. I’d say it’s not a bad card.

Not great either.

Cid Pollendina (13-039C)

“EX BURST When Cid Pollendina enters the field, you may search for 1 Job Engineer Forward and add it to your hand.”

Let’s take a look at what we wrote when Opus XIII came out.

“I didn’t realize how many Cid’s there are. Or Engineers. At first glance, I thought this card would be so-so. There are 17 Engineers including Cid Haze. And, 11 Cids. 12 if you count Cindy.

You can probably put together an Engineer deck. And have Cid Haze attack to Activate all of your cards. It might work. Or a Cid Deck. Who wants to build a Cid deck.”

Well, yes. We’ll keep it like that.

We’ll finally try our hand at an Engineer deck.

Maybe.

Cid Pollendina (17-049C)

“When Cid Pollendina enters the field, you may search for 1 Category IV Forward and add it to your hand.”

This is probably the most Common Cid you’ll see on the field. (See what I did there?)

Mr. Pollendina comes in and searches for a FFIV Forward. And, we all like searching for cards, cause you get to grab what you need.

Grab that Wind Legend Cecil, and call it a day.

Opinion on Starters : Rebellion’s Call

17-131S – Kain

Haste? Check
Way to reduce the CP cost? Check
Buffs self when attacking? Check

All in all Kain here is a decent card. You might end up only paying 1CP for Kain, and if you do he’s an attacking Forward with 9K power.

17-132S -Zemus

Kind of plays like Don Corneo from a couple Opus back.

But, as before to remove 7 or 1 cards from your deck is quite the number.

Unless you’re sure you’re going to win this game, it’s best to avoid using these abilities. But, you’re playing Fire. Go on Aggro yourself ahead and hope for the best.

17-133S – Scarmiglione

Interesting.

If you’re playing against a Mono-build this card is a perfect choice. If not, it’s still a good choice.

Scarmiglione comes in and you pick an element. Scarmiglione becomes twice as strong against that element.

And, Blood Tap? Yes that damage will increase as well. It’s a Special ability and since you don’t need to dull Scarmiglione, you can keep using it till you run out of Scarmigliones. With this one there are a total of 4 different Scarmiglione. Multiply that by 3, and you can see how many times you’ll be able to use Blood Tap.

17-134S – Baigan EX

Not much here, but Baigan does allow you to search for Golbez.

After that you can put Baigan into the Break Zone to break a Forward.

4CP/8K power. Average card.

17-135S – Edge

Same thing with Scarmiglione. Edge has an ability that triggers when he enters the field. Depending on how many FFIV Characters you have on the field, Edge can break a Forward. You can quite easily pick apart your opponent using Mirage over and over.

Plenty of Edges to keep on hand for this ability.

17-136S – Kain

Kain allows you to grab a FFIV Water Character from the Break Zone.Plenty of Characters that you can choose from.
Other than that he can come in with Haste depending on the field situation.

17-137S – Rydia

Search for a couple of Summons, one gets tossed to the Break Zone by your opponent.

After that each time you cast a Summon, you might be able to break one of your opponents Forwards. Especially if they are high cost Summons.

17-138S – Rosa

Decent card, better card if Cecil is on the field.

Even though Rosa is a Forward, she plays like a Backup, casting White Magic on your Forwards. Activate and a buff. All for a total of 0CP. You know you’ll be using her ability each turn.

17-139S – Cecil

There are better Cecils, but every time I say that, someone comes up with a way that makes this one even better than the other ones.

So, I’ll just say that Cecil here can have up to 10K Power with Brave.

That and if you dull your FFIV Characters, you can dull Forwards and deal damage and stuff.

17-140S – Golbez

Same thing with Cecil, but Golbez can act like a Summon as well.

Which unless you’re searching for another Golbez I don’t see the point in not paying the 2CP and keeping Golbez on the field.

But, you might say 6CP is a lot to pay for this card. But so is the 7CP Odin and all he does is break a card.

Yoichi’s Bow and the Wielder

Maria, probably your best bet at a Mage while playing FFII. But, here she’s more of a Time Mage in a sense.

“I’m looking for my long-lost brother. If you know anything about him, please let me know.”

Maybe, Leon will be a Dark card this set.

On to the Card

Maria

2CP/Light
Forward
Warrior/Rebel
Category – II
Legend
5000 Power

“The Forwards of cost 2 or less other than Maria you control gain +2000 Power.

When Maria enters the field, choose up to 1 Backup you control, Activate it. It loses all it’s abilities and also becomes a Forward with 8000 power. (This effect does not end at the end of the turn.)”

And there you have it. Finally, a way to recycle your Backups. Especially the ones that come in with an upon entry auto-ability, and then they have nothing else to do, except give you 1CP every time you dull it.

Any Backup that allows you to search for another card will be a good choice. Other cards that will work are ones that cause damage to Forwards when they enter the field. Backups that allow you to draw a card. At least that is how I see myself playing this.

You’ll probably be playing all the 2 cost Forwards you can get, giving them +2K power. That along with … I would have said Opus I – Maria, but that is a no-no. But, along with another Backup that boosts the power of your Forwards, those 2 cost Forwards should be hitting pretty hard.

Well, that is my thoughts on Maria. What are yours?
