Wave 1 – Auron – 1-001H

Starting off right at the beginning. This one is not confirmed, but my personal opinion. I noticed this by looking at a graded Wave 1 Foil. The foil pattern is different between the 2 Waves. Here are the two guides from the introduction post that will help you guide your way.

“Distinguishing Final Fantasy TCG Opus 1 Wave 1 from Future Waves”

“Differences in Opus I Wave 1 Printing vs Later Waves”

If you look closely, you can tell that the colors on the cards are a little different. The Wave 1 card looks a little dull compared to Wave 2 which is more vibrant.

Wave 1 is on the left, and Wave 2 is on the right.

First off, I noticed that the whole card is moved up, not just the Crystal. If you take a look at Auron’s boot there is more showing than what is on the Wave 2 card.

Something else I also noticed, but is not consistent on Wave 2 cards. Could be the difference between Wave 2 and Wave 3. There is a little, let’s call it a, blob on the left side of the card. Could just be a printing error, but it is something I noticed when I was studying the cards.

Introduction to Opus I – Wave 1

I would have written a quick guide myself, but there are already a couple of people that have done so, and probably did a better job at it than I would have been able to.

They both cover the same things and for most of the cards these guides will help you determine if you have a Wave 1 or Wave 2 card on your hands.

First one is from Stephen Bongner. He is the Administrator of the FFTCG Marketplace on Facebook. Plenty of knowledge on the game and cards. He created the “Distinguishing Final Fantasy TCG Opus 1 Wave 1 from Future Waves” guide and you can find it here.

Second one is from Conkwe, who runs the FFTCG Boards. I have been going these boards for since Opus VI. Other than his guide on Wave 1 differences, he shares lists of Errata, Promo cards and Variants, and is always a good place to check out. His Wave 1 guide “Differences in Opus I Wave 1 Printing vs Later Waves” can be found here.

These 2 guides are a great place to start figuring out the differences. I hope you find these guides as helpful as I have found them.

Site Update 20230122

Happy New Year, and Lunar New Year and all the other holidays.

We’ve been back at work behind the seems as usual. Slowly adding more singles to the website. We finished Resurgence of Power, and slowly started Opus I.

We will be doing Opus I slowly, as we have Wave 1 cards mixed all together with Wave 2 and we need to slowly sort them all out. Plus we figured to slowly start a Wave 1 guide. We’ve been searching near and far and in between, and we believe we’re slowly starting to crack the code on all the cards that don’t have a distinct characteristic to show you that it is definitely Wave 1 or Wave 2.

As always these are our opinions and they may be wrong, unless we have something verified we won’t know 100% if we a right or wrong. The cards that we are 100% sure we will have “Verified” in the title. All the other cards will be just our opinion until they are verified.

Be on the lookout for more Events and Vendor Shows coming up.

A Hole In My Pocket

After I had gotten the packs at Gamer’s World, I knew I needed more. But, couldn’t find a reason to go to the mall other than getting more packs. I knew I had an itch that needed scratching, and there was only one way to do it. I ended up going to Target after work, to get some things that we needed around the house. And, decided to check out the card section.

There they were. I saw them right away packs of Opus III, Opus IV, and Opus VI. I had to get them. And, I did. Couple packs of each Opus. I went home and opened them up, but it was not enough. I needed more. The next morning I headed to Target before work and bought out the rest of the packs.

There they were in my pocket the whole day begging to be opened.

The day went by ever so slowly, and when it was time to go home, I decided I should hit up another Target, we could always use a few more packs. I was buying so many packs over the next couple of weeks, that it was draining my pocket at a fast pace. Whenever my wife would go to the mall, I would have her pick up a couple of packs. Turns out one of the employees that worked there, was a patron at our restaurant. So, we started talking and got to know him. He said they were trying to get a FFTCG night at the card shop. I would always say I wanted to go, but my schedule would not allow it.

I decided that, instead of packs, I should just buy a box. It would be cheaper, and I would get a whole bunch of packs to open. I found a box of Opus I, for 80 bucks. I wish I would have bought more, now that they’re hitting 300. But, I probably would have opened them all up anyway.

The box lasted me 3 days. I knew I could have opened it all up on the first day, but I was trying to pace myself.
