Dreamlike Fire

28-001R – Ursula

2CP + 1CP + 1CP = 8000 damage / 2

Or something along those lines.

Ursula comes right on in, and you can pay 1 Fire CP two times. Each time you do Ursula will deal 4000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

And, if you already have received 3 points of damage, every time she deals damage to a Forward that damage increases by 1000.

Making each hit, 5000 points of damage.

This changes our formula. But, we’ll just leave it like that.

28-002R – Ardyn

This is interesting.

Ardyn is here to deplete everyone of their resources.

At 4CP, and 9000 power, he’ll be hard to get rid of.

At the beginning of each player’s Main Phase 1, you’ll have to put one Character into the Break Zone. If you don’t Ardyn will deal you one point of damage.

And at 3 points of damage, Ardyn will double the damage dealt. So, 1 point of damage will become 2 points of damage.

Ardyn will make your matches much shorter.

28-003C – Garland

Half way to board wipe.

Garland comes along and he’s taking down all of your low cost Forwards. 7000 damage to all the Forwards 2CP and below, is a serious threat, to low cost Forwards.

If the Forwards are 3CP and up, well then you’re out of luck. Even 9000 power won’t be worth the 5CP spent to play Garland.
Maybe one would be good. There are better 5 cost cards out there.

28-004C – Guy

Now this is what I’m talking about.

Firion and Co. is getting a great addition to the Final Fantasy II deck. If you don’t have one yet, then it’s probably time to make one.

Guy comes in and grabs either a Warrior or a Rebel from your Break Zone. Which is great because Guy only costs 2CP.

Only drawback, is if you grab a card that isn’t from Final Fantasy II then you’ll have to discard a card.

Guy has been getting some great cards lately.

28-005C – Gunbreaker

3CP and a Crystal in order to get Gunbreaker’s full potential.

That full potential includes 8000 damage dealt to a Forward of your choice.

If all you want is a Meat Shield, then you don’t need to worry about the Crystal.

Yeah, that’s it.

.

28-006C – Clavat

Here we go, a Crystal Generator.

One when Clavat comes in, and one when you use the ability to send her to the Break Zone.

Simple.

Easy to understand.

Not much else going on here.

28-007H – Cloud EX

Another Cloud, Another Full Art.

I’m not complaining.

I just like how they’re using his Advent Children outfit for this one.

Cloud has a couple of things going on when he enters the field.

First off, he grabs a Final Fantasy VII Character from the Break Zone.

And then he gives you a Crystal.

Need more Crystals?

Cloud can generate 1 Crystal per turn. And if you don’t need a Crystal, Cloud will give one of your Final Fantasy VII Forwards +2000 power.

Did you notice Cloud’s Job?

28-008C – Amarant

You will play Amarant second.

Or third. You can play him first, but you’ll just end up wasting a card.

Amarant deals a Forward 7000 damage when he enters the field, and that might just be enough to break most Forwards.
3CP, and 9000 power. He’s a great Meat Shield.

And, we’ll leave it at that.

28-009C – Jecht EX

Jecht’s first outing as a Backup. I don’t know how well the Starting Blitzball player will take that, but hes got a job to do.

Jecht comes in off the bench, and if your opponent has 3 Forwards on the field, Jecht will deal one 8000 damage.

If not, then the bench is for Jecht, and he’ll give you 1CP per turn.

.

28-010R – Jack Garland

Garland is Garland. I think we’ve said that before.

Jack enters the field and deals 8000 damage to a Forward.

And when your opponents plays a Forward, you can put Jack into the Break Zone and deal that Forward 9000 damage.

Jack plays like the Opus V Grenade. Only difference is that Jack will give you 1CP per turn until you decide to use his ability.

28-011H – Cecil

This Cecil acts more like a Dark Knight than a Paladin.

And, you need Dark Knight Cecil in order to get Cecil’s full effect.

Cecil enters the field, and if you have a Dark Knight Cecil in your Break Zone, Cecil draws you a card.

But, that’s not the reason we’ll be playing Cecil.

We’ll be playing Cecil for Cecil’s second ability, which whenever one of your Forwards is put into the Break Zone, Cecil will deal one of your opponent’s Forwards 7000 damage. Every time. Not just once per turn.

How many times did we say Cecil?

28-012C – Warrior

End game Backup.

Warrior won’t do anything meaningful, until you have 5 Backups on the field.

But, when you do Warrior will deal 7000 to a Forward of your choosing, he will then proceed to head to the Break Zone giving you room to play one more Backup.

28-013L – Tifa

Get ready for Final Fantasy VII to re-enter the Meta.

Yes, I base that off of this card. Along with all the other awesome cards we had in previous sets. Tifa is going to take the Meta by storm. If not, then I will say “What do I know?”

Tifa comes in for 3CP, 7000 Power and Brave. And depending on how many Final Fantasy VII Characters you have on the field, Tifa will deal 4000 damage for each one. You got a board full? You can get to 40K damage.

Is it worth mentioning, cause not that many Forward go over 10000 power? Of course it is!

You can also pay the extra cost of 2 Crystals, and Tifa will gain Haste, +2000 power, and the ability to attack twice in the same turn.

Nuff’ said.

I’ll take 3. Full Arts. Always Full Arts.

This card is going to be money.

28-014R – Rogue Tomato

How come I have never heard of Moogle Bounty Mayhem.

And, why is this tomato still in it’s pajamas?

Doesn’t it know that he’s about to be sent to the field? All by himself, with no Forwards to protect him, all so it can deal 4000 damage to a Forward.

Well, Rogue Tomato can become a Forward, but then you won’t be able to use it’s ability.

28-015H – Barret

Barret comes in from the get go and deals massive damage. 9000 to one Forward and 7000 to another.

And every time your opponent’s Forwards are sent to the Break Zone, you will gain a Crystal.

You can change Barret’s name to Crystal Generator.

Then there is Focused Shot, which will deal 10,000 damage to 2 Forwards. All you got to do is divide it up however you see fit.

This Barret will fit better into a Warrior Tribal deck. But he does generate the Crystals that Tifa needs.

28-016L – Vivi

Got to say, I’m liking this art. Even though we’ve seen these in the last few sets, Vivi is always a card that I look forward to. I’ve always wanted to build a deck around Vivi, and with this one, I might finally be able to make a decent one.

Let’s get straight to the card.

Vivi comes in for 4CP, and when he enters the field you can divide 7000 damage between any number of Forwards that your opponent controls.

You can deal 7000 to one Forward, or 1000 damage to 7 Forwards. Meaning you can hopefully break a Forward when Vivi comes in.

If you have a Final Fantasy IX Forward on the field alongside Vivi, that damage becomes 10,000 instead. Meaning more fire power for you.
There’s also a little ability that Vivi has that will deal 9000 damage to a Forward.

Only downside is that Vivi only has 5000 power, making him suspectable to your opponent’s damage.

I’ll take 3.

28-017C – Firion

For 2CP, you have a 5000 body that comes in with Haste.

And, if you have another Final Fantasy II Character on the field, Firion gains +2000 power.
And that is all there is to say about this card.

Might be a good first round play if you’re up first. Other than that. Not much going on here.

28-018H – Brynhildr

For 2CP this is a great Summon, I would go as far as to say Superb.

Brynhildr will either deal a Forward 5000 damage, 10K if it’s a Multi-Element, or Brynhildr will break a Monster.

And, you don’t have to choose just one. You can use both if you’d like. All you got to do is pay a Crystal.

I’ve been noticing that this set is giving us lots of Crystal play.

28-019R – Brute Bomber

The Brute Bomber ,the Arcadian Fighter!

Brute Bomber enters the field and deals 9000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards and one of your Forwards. You both get to choose who get’s dealt the damage.

And, at 3 points of damage, all damage that Brute Bomber receives is reduced by 2000.

Making Brute Bomber the perfect choice to deal himself damage.

Just make sure you play him after you already receive those 3 points of damage.

Journey of Water

27-091R – Adelheid

The Recycling Scholar.

Miner 2.0.

Adelheid let’s you grab 2 Forwards from your Break Zone.

And, that is about it.

All I know is that we can all use more cards that grab cards from the Break Zone.

Yes, you shall play this card.

27-092H – Ultimecia

The Wicked Witch of Water.

Maybe she’s just misunderstood. Especially given some of the fan theories I read over the years, she just might be.
Anyways, Ultimecia is ready to go and for 4CP and 3 cards removed from your Break Zone, and you can gain control of one of your opponent’s Forwards.

You’ll need to pay it’s cost, using any colored CP, if you don’t, you’ll just end up putting that Forward into the Break Zone, which in itself is a great thing too.
.

27-093C – Urianger

Just what we needed. Well we always need more Backups like this. Backups that can produce CP from another element.
Urianger does just that as he produces Lightning CP.

What else does he do?

When Urianger enters the field, and Koana is on the field as well, you will draw a card, making Urianger a free play.

.

27-094C – Garnet

Umm?

Why would they have that as an EX Burst? Putting the top 3 cards of your deck into the Break Zone, for no reason doesn’t seam like a great play to me.

Garnet’s other ability is good though.

You can remove one Summon from your Break Zone, and your opponent will choose one of their Forwards and they will put it in their Break Zone.

This is a decent play, which kind of evens out the cost of the top 3 cards of your deck when she enters the field, but what happens when the top 3 cards of your deck have the cards you need to play?

It’s worth a gamble if you ask me.

27-095H – Gau

Gau is ready to add more power to your Monster deck. Or any other deck for that matter. It’s just that we associate Gau with Monsters.

Gau comes in and you look at the top 5 cards of your deck, and add 2 Characters that cost up to 2CP.

If you succed and find 2 cards, it brings Gau’s cost down to 1CP.

And his ability doubles his power and grants him Brave.

What’s not to like?

27-096C – Chemist

Chemist is moonlighting as an Ice Backup.

Why?

Cause if you pay the extra cost, Chemist will Dull/Freeze 2 of your opponent’s Forwards.

That will explain why you need one Ice CP to pay for the extra cost.

.

27-097C – Black Mage

Black Mage comes on in and your opponent has to make a decision.

Which Forward will they send to the Break Zone?

All I know, is that that Forward has to cost 2CP or less.

And, if you have a Multi-Element Forward on your field, that chosen Forward can now cost up to 4CP, giving them a bigger selection on who to Break.

.

27-098L – The Emperor

The Emperor of Palamecia is back again, doing the same old shtick.

Whenever The Emperor is put into the Break Zone, you can play The Emperor from your hand onto the field. 5CP or less, and we already know that the highest cost for The Emperor is 5CP, so you can play any Emperor that you would like.

Not only that, but you can put The Emperor into the Break Zone yourself when you use his ability. And, it is an ability that you would like to use over and over if you can. What’s that ability? You’ll choose one of your opponent’s Forwards and they will lose 8000 power and their abilities as well.

How many Emperors can you have in your deck before you decide it’s too much?

All I know is that there are 6 The Emperors, that when put in the Break Zone will find a way to play another of your Emperors onto the field.

Can we build a deck around this? I shall give it a try.

27-099H – Gogo

Ever needed a Mime to do Mime-ey things?

Gogo got you covered, (s)he can even go-go dance. Probably.

Gogo can only come in during your opponent’s turn, and when Gogo does come in Gogo will use the same auto ability that your opponent just used.

Gogo practically mimicked what your opponent did.

And that is why Gogo is a mime.

Yeah, don’t got much to say.

27-100R – Schultz EX

You can see Schultz holding a letter. But, what really is in the envelope is a card. Most likely a water card. And when he enters the field you can look at the top 3 cards of your deck. Once you’ve taken a good look at them, you can put them at the top of your deck or the bottom of your deck, in any order that you ‘d like.

Once you do this, you will reveal the top card of your deck, and if it’s a Water card, you can add it to your hand. If it’s not then you struck out. So, make sure you put them back right.

This is a sure draw if you’re playing Mono-Water, if you’re not, then you have a 25% chance of whiffing on this play.

This ability also comes off of an EX Burst.

27-101l – Sin

Sin is a Monster.

If you don’t believe me just take a look at him.

Sin enters the field for a whopping 8CP.

What do we get for that?

Well, Sin will break 2 of your opponent’s Forwards and 1 of their Backups. Send them to the Break Zone. Of course you’ll also have to remove 15 cards from your Break Zone, in order to trigger this ability.

Those 15 cards are already in your Break Zone, so you probably don’t have any use for them anyways.

After everything is done, you’ll have a giant Meat Shield on the field, cause it’ll be hard to get rid of SIn.

27-102R – Tidus

4CP/8000 Power.

Tidus comes in and hands out Guardian Counters like candy.

What do these Counters do?

They reduce the damage taken by 5000. Which will save you from a lot of attacks, Summon or abilities.

You can also use Tidus’s ability to give +1000 power to all of your Forwards.

After that he’s just a Meat Shield, and a good one at that.

Maybe you can use Opus VI Rinoa to bounce Tidus, and hand out even more Guardian Counters.

27-103C – Tonberry

Tonberry comes into the field and he starts stabbing.

Just a small stab at first. One of your opponent’s Forwards loses 2000 power.

And then you have Tonberry’s ability where he will break one of your opponent’s Forwards. You can choose any Forward as long as it has 8000 power or less.

Not bad if you ask me, 3CP to play Tonberry, and you can break one of your Forwards whenever you would like.
If this card has a Full Art, I’ll take 3 of those.

27-104C – Ninja

This Ninja look more like a tank.

Ninja will come in for 2CP, and has a simple enter the field ability which will give one of your Forwards the ability to draw a card if they deal damage to your opponent during this turn.

And, that is all.

You might be able to find some use with Ninja in certain situations, but it’s not a card that you will want to use all the time.
Unless it’s turn one, and you also have Roche, then go right ahead.

.
27-105R – Mayakov

Mayakov looks like he’s ready to star in Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.

Mayakov is a cheap Forward, that gets better the more Dancers you have on the field.

You can dull these Dancers and that is how you pay for Mayakov’s abilities.

One will reduce the power of one of your opponent’s Forwards by 2000, and the other will draw you a card.

And if you don’t like dulling your active Dancers, Mayakov has an ability that will Activate 3 of your Dancers. That way you won’t think too much about whether it’s worth dulling you Dancers or not.

27-106C – Mog (VI)

It’s a cheap play, that can draw you a card.

It’s not like you need all of those cards in your Break Zone, half of those cards, are there for a reason.

What you’ll do is play Mog for 1CP. Remove 5 cards from your Break Zone and draw a card.

You’ll be up by 1CP.

I’m not saying you need to put Mog in every deck, but, there could be some use to him.
.

27-107R – Yuna

I’m guessing you can play Yuna with the Tidus in this set. I’m also guessing that you can use this Yuna with a Tidus from any set. Let’s say Emissaries of Light. Cause, who doesn’t like that Tidus.

Yuna comes in and grabs Tidus from your Break Zone.

She also can’t be chosen by your opponent’s Summons.

And, that is all.

Once Yuna grabs Tidus, she has no use anymore, you can use her to block an attack, and play a more useful Yuna.
.

27-108H – Leviathan

There’s a lot going on for 5CP.

And, I got to say that it is worth playing this card.

Leviathan comes in and you get to return one of your opponent’s Forwards to their hand. And, that’s not all. Nope, you can also play a 3CP Forward from your hand onto the field.

This brings Leviathan’s cost down to 2CP.

The only thing that would make this card better would be if it came off of an EX Burst.

But, then it would have to be a Legend. And, to date we only have had 6 Legend Summons. None of which are Water.

Fire of Discovery

27-001R – Auron

Auron is sitting in your back line ready to boost one of your Forwards.

Yes, that Forward need to be blocking an attack, in order for him to get the buff. And, that also means that after you declare the block, your opponent has to do something in order for you to be able to use Auron’s ability.

When all that is said and done, Auron will give your Forward a 7000 power buff to help him block your opponent’s attack.

Hopefully you’ll break that Forward.

27-002H – Ifrit EX

For 1CP, this is a great card. I’ll take 3, and from the looks of it, I sense a Full Art. If there is no Full Art we will riot!

Choose a Forward deal it 5000 damage.

If you choose to pay the extra cost of removing an Ifrit from your Break Zone deal it 8000 damage instead.

What’s not to like. I’m sure you’ll have plenty of Ifrit’s that have been summoned, with nothing to do, but wait for the game to end so they can be summoned again.

Can’t go wrong with 1CP.

And, something tells me we’re getting 1CP Hero Summons for all Elements. And, they’ll all be from Final Fantasy III.

27-003C – Viper

Lots of Final Fantasy XIV support this set. Well, what else would you think? Journey of Discovery has Krile on the box.

Viper comes in for 3CP, and deals a Forward 3000 damage.

Now if you got a Multi-Element Forward on the field, that damage becomes 7000.

After that Viper sticks around as a Meat Shield. He might even attack.

27-004C -Ace

In and out. That’s what Ace’s job is.

Ace comes in and deals 9000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

And, if that’s not enough, you can use Ace’s ability to deal 5000 damage to a Forward as well.
Yes Ace costs 6CP.

And, that is all I have to say about this card. You might be better off with a Monster that does something similar.

27-005R – Guy

Ready to bulk up your front line?

Guy is ready.

When Guy enters the field, you will play one Forward from your hand onto the field. Up to 2CP. And, it doesn’t have to be a Fire Forward, it can be any element.

That’s 2 for Tuesday, even though it’s Wednesday today.

And, that is not all, at the end of each of your turns, if you have 4 Forwards on the field, Guy will draw you a card.

Guy will keep on giving for as long as he is on the field, and at 7000 power, your opponent might have a little bit of trouble getting rid of him.

I can see all Fire decks, having at least one.

27-006R – Chaos Advent

Chaos Advent shines when he is put into the Break Zone.

Chaos Advent will reveal the top 7 cards, and you can play one Strangers of Paradise Forward onto the field.

Quick and easy.

Only set back is that, that Forward becomes a Dark card, with the Job Chaos.

Which means you’ll need a Dark Backup that allows you to play more than one Dark card at a time.

You’ll want to play this one early enough where, Chaos Advent can stick around on the field, until needed to find a Strangers of Paradise Forward.

I’m not sure if that makes sense.

27-007H – Gulool Ja Ja

Spread out the Damage when Gulool Ja Ja deals damage to a Forward, you’ll take that damage and deal it once more to another one of your opponent’s Forwards.

You can do this once per turn, so whenever Gulool Ja Ja attacks, or blocks, or when he enters the field when you have received 5 points of damage, Gulool Ja JA deals 7000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards, triggering his first ability.

This is an interesting card. It might be the first with this ability unless I missed something, but I think this would have stuck.

27-008C – Gladiator

This is what a Bomb Backup would look like.

And, Gladiator can work great alongside the Bombs.

Perhaps he was training near Jachol, where he learned the technique from the Bombs.

Never the less, for 2CP you get a BAckup, that will give you 1CP once per turn, and if you decide to use Gladiator’s abilty, he will send himself to the Break Zone while dealing 2000 damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards.

I’ll be using a couple of these.

27-009C – Samurai

What do we have here?

A Backup that can break a High cost Forward. And Samurai only costs 1CP! Yeah, there is an extra cost of 3CP to use his ability, and that brings you to a total of 4CP.

The only problem you’ll have is finding the Wind CP to pay for the extra cost. There are no Wind Samurais available at the moment.

But, you can always use Princess Sarah (11-128H) for that Wind CP.

27-010L – Xande

Xande is sure tired of these Warriors of Light. And, for that reason when he enters the field, Xande will cast Silence. It’s probably SIlence. All the Forwards of a Job that you name will lose all of their abilities until the end of the turn.

And we’re not even done here.

At the begining of every Attack Phase Xande will deal 9000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards, then you will draw a card and discard a card. And, if you discarded a Xande, you will deal 9000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

Rinse and Repeat.

Yo-u can keep dealing 9000 damage to your opponent’s Forwards for as long as you have a Xande in your hand to discard.

27-011C – Jecht

At 6CP, Jecht is a decent play.

At Warping Speed, Jecht is even better.

For a total of 2CP, you can future proof the board, cause when Jecht enters the field, you can either deal 8000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards, or deal 5000 to all of your opponent’s Forwards.

You’ll choose which one you would like to use once Jecht enters the field and you see what your opponent’s board looks like.

Either way, I would say this one is worth playing.

27-012H – Zell EX

Zell is ready to hopefully take down your opponent’s Forwards as soon as he comes in!

5000 damage divided up any way you would like to any number of Forwards your opponent controls.
And, if you have 4 Final Fantasy VIII Characters on the field, that damage becomes 9000. Meaning that you’ll at least break on of your opponent’s Forwards.

At 5 points of Damage Zell gains Haste.

And, let’s now forget that this ability also comes off of an EX Burst.

Zell might be useful in my Bomb deck.

27-013L – Zeromus

Why didn’t this card get the Full Art treatment. If there was any card that deserved it it would be this one.
Zeromus AKA Zemus comes in the field and does nothing. Not until your Characters are chosen by your opponent’s abilities.

When they are, Zeromus becomes the tax man, and tells your opponent to “Pay Up”. And if they don’t they’re Summon or ability will just fizzle and nothing will happen.

And that cost is pretty high. Either 4CP or a Crystal. If they have an abundance of Crystals they’ll be good to go, if not, then Zeromus will be depleting you’re opponents resources. Their top priority will be to find a way to get rid of Zeromus, allowing you to build your board as you see fit.

How much power does Zeromus have? 8000? Maybe, just maybe, Grenade (5-008R) will become even more useful.

27-014H – Terra

Custom Art? Check.

Let’s see what else she does.

Terra enters the field and you reveal the top 2 cards of your deck. You can grab up to 2 cards. One a Fire card, and the other can be either Wind or Lightning. The cards you don’t grab are sent to the Break Zone.
So far so good, you might actually get a Free Play with Terra.

And, we’re not done yet. Whenever you cast a Wind or Lightning card, Terra can deal 8000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards. Terra does need to be Active for this ability to take effect.

Other than that Terra has 5000 power, but you’ll most likely keep her active to start dealing 8000 damage left and right.

27-015R – Bakool Ja Ja

Need reinforcement that will be on call?

Bakool Ja Ja is ready to help you out with that.

When he enters the field, and leaves the field, you will remove the top card of your deck from the field, and it will be on standby. Not taking up space in your hand. Just in Purgatory, waiting to see, if you will use it during this game.

Now let’s think about it for a second.

Your best bet would be if a Summon was removed from the game, a constant reminder to your opponent not to do anything stupid.

They always said two heads are better than one.

27-016C – Fire Elemental

Here’s a Monster that will do damage on the way in and on the way out.

When Fire Elemental enters the field, it’s do 5000 damage to one Forward.

When Fire Elemental is put into the Break Zone it’ll deal a Forward 8000 damage.

Not bad, but not great either.

I have a feeling we’ll be getting at least three more of these Monsters, and the other two will have a different name. And, they won’t be from Strangers of Paradise.

27-017R – Luneth

Weren’t we just talking about Warriors of Light?

Well, Xande won’t get much done with Luneth.

When Luneth enters the field, you’ll reveal the top card of your deck, and if it’s a Character, and costs under 3CP, you get to play it on to the field.

Doesn’t matter who it is. Doesn’t matter what element it is. You will play that card onto the field. What’s the chances of you hitting a target Character? Pretty good, cause you’ll be putting your deck together.
Minuet? Luneth grants Haste to all of your low cost Forwards.

Fill your deck up with cards that cost 3CP or less, and “Luneth don’t miss.”

And, this is just a Rare?

27-018C – General Leo

Here’s your Buy One Get One Free Card!

When General Leo enters the field you can play a Standard Unit from your hand on to the field. Up to 5CP. What Standard Units do you play? I’d say it depends on what you’re trying to do, but since General Leo doesn’t specify Element, you can cast any Standard Unit that you would like.

His action ability, is just a little ping of damage, but sometimes that’s all you need.

At the end of the day, General Leo has a 9K body ready to go.

Let’s see what General Leo can do. You play General Leo, Paladin (22-101C) who will play a 2CP Forward from your Break Zone. You’ll grab Sol (16-013H) pay a Crystal and play a 4CP Forward from your hand. Yuna (27-129S) is up next allowing you to play a 3CP Forward. and so forth.

So far we got 4 Forwards on the field for 5CP. 5 if you add in the one that Yuna brings in. I know it’s highly unlikely that this will happen in a game, considering your deck and RNG, but the possibilities are there. And if it finally does happen, you just pulled off the heist of the century. Or at least the heist of Opus XXVII.

It’s like buying a lottery ticket. Only this time you get to see your winnings.

You put Aila into the Break Zone, draw 2 cards, and then discard a card.

It comes out to an even trade. 2 cards for 2 cards.

You just get to keep the cards that you want.

That doesn’t mean you’ll always get what you want, sometimes you’ll find worse cards than what you already have.

And, that’s about it.

26-102C – Blue Mage

This is a great card.

Are you playing Monsters? Then Blue Mage is a great play for you.

Blue Mage comes in and you can play a Monster from your hand on to the field. That’s 4CP for 2 cards.

And whenever a Monster is put into the Break Zone from the field, you get to draw a card.
And you know that Monsters like to send themselves to the Break Zone.

I’m just thinking of how much help Blue Mage will be to my Bomb Squad.

26-103L – Azdaja

Here is your game winner.

Azdaja has built in protection against your opponent’s Summons, and until the end of your opponent’s turn, Azdaja also has protection against your opponent’s abilities.

Which is good because, you opponent will want to get rid of Azdaja A.S.A.P. Period.

Why is this you might ask?

Well, Azdaja has the ability that every time one of your Water Forwards attacks, you will be able to choose one of your opponent’s Forwards and return it to their hand.

All I’m saying is throw Azdaja in a deck with Pirates and Vikings, and you’re set.

26-104H – Iedolas

You see what’s happening?

Iedolas is telling your opponent to hold on. Cause we haven’t even started yet.

And, then another Final Fantasy XV Forward will rise from the grave. Err. .. Break Zone. And come straight to the field to take care of your opponent. You can grab any Forward up to 5CP.

We’re thinking Ardyn, cause why not.

Dawn of Heroes Ardyn to be exact. You’ll put 2 Backups into the Break Zone, and then you’ll reveal the top cards of your deck until you find 2 Characters. You may now play those 2 Characters on to the field.

Is there anything not to like?

You get 4 cards on the field for the price of Iedolas.

And, if that’s not enough, you can always put Iedolas in the Break Zone, and have your opponent return a card to their hand.

Now you can replay Iedolas.

26-105C – Garnet

Garnet comes in and does nothing, unless you pay the extra cost of dulling 4 active Characters. They can be Backups, Monsters or Forwards.

When you do dull 4 of your Characters, Garnet will send a Forward to the bottom of it’s owner’s deck. Which is a way of getting rid of a Forward when you can’t send it to the Break Zone. And, it’s not returning to their owner’s hand, where they can play it again on their next turn.

Yes, you can send your own Forward at the bottom of your own deck. You can do this if you need to save a Forward.

I would place Garnet in one of the many Monster decks that we have floating around.

26-106C – Old Snapper

Hmm, what’s there to think about? Other than the fact, that you need to use up all of Old Snapper’s Flyer Counters in order for him to be useful.

For 2CP, you can grab 2 cards from your Break Zone and add them to your hand. But, not before you put 3 cards from your deck into the Break Zone. And, this will take at least 3 turns, because you have to remove all 3 Flyer Counters from Old Snapper in order for this to be of use.

Now, if there was anyway of removing these Counters without using Old Snapper’s ability, this would have been a great card.

26-107C – Chemist

The elemental backups, and this one is decent.

Why?

Because Chemist shall be your defense against cards like Vrtra and Azdaja. And, we know that they both will be a threat to your front lines. Basically, Chemist will stand up against all the giants. Think Yuna, The new Lightning, and even Dadaluma. Yes, we had to mention him because he was just unbanned, expect him to make a return to your locals, and LQs and Materia Cups and so on.

All you need to do is have a bunch of Wind cards to feed the ability, and you can put a stop to your opponent’s nonsense.

Chemist should be put in every Wi/Wa deck as a measure of protection.

And, here I thought this card would be useless.

26-108C – Thaliak

Thaliak will come in once “The Twelve” start making moves. And those should be 4 moves, 4 moves that bring 4 of The Twelve onto the field.

Once they’re on the field, you can play Thaliak, and your opponent will choose one of their Forwards and send it to the Break Zone. After that, you’ll draw a card.

There is also a little ability called Rheognosis, when used, Thaliak will return a Forward that casts 3CP or less back to your opponent’s hand. And, since this ability doesn’t dull Thaliak, you can use it twice in one turn.

3CP? Yes, please and thank you.

26-109R – Johnny

I forgot that Johnny moved to Costa del Sol, but now that I see it, it reminded me of it.
Apparently Johnny, still has a crush on Tifa, and whenever she enters the field, Johnny activates. And you draw a card.

Simply put, you can play Johnny right before you play Tifa. Or better yet, right before you play Zangan, who will then play Tifa. Who will then activate Johnny, who will draw a card for you.

I’m sure there’s a much better combo here, but I’m not going to look for it right now.

.

26-110R – Sylvestre

Stalone. Yeah, Nope.

This isn’t Rocky, nor Rambo, but Sylvestre will search for a Light Forward. And, once that Light Forward is added to your hand, you can play a Forward onto the field. Up to 3CP. If you think about it, Sylvestre’s final cost can be 1CP.

Sylvestre will also cancel one of your opponent’s abilities that is choosing 1 Forward. And, that is most abilities.

How is this a Rare? I don’t know, but you can probably put this card into any Water deck, and you will do fine with it.

26-111C – Titov

What else would Titov do? He’s a Ferry Captain.

Titov will Ferry the top 3 cards of your deck to your hand and back.

How the get off the ferry is up to you. Cause they need to walk in a straight line to get off the ferry boat.

Titov will make sure that neither of them cuts in line, and get off exactly as you want them to.

And, that’s about it.

26-112H – Tidus

Finally a Guardian that actually protects Yuna.

Every time Yuna is dealt damage, that damage is transferred to Tidus. And if you have received 3 points of damage that damage is reduced by 2000.

I can’t wait to see these new FFX decks that are going to come out. YRP is back in business, all thanks to Tidus. This Tidus.

Oh, and let’s not forget that Tidus will search for Yuna.

.
26-113R – Nymeia EX

The Twelve keeps on coming. I lost track of the cards we’ve seen so far.

Nymeia here will provide you with more ammo. When she enters the field, you draw a card. EX Burst? Draw a card.

And, if that’s not enough, you can use Nymeia’s ability to draw a card. But, you’ll need at least 4 of “The Twelve” on the field to use her ability.

All in all, Nymeia is worth playing, even if you aren’t playing “The Twelve”.

.

26-114H – Asura, Manusya of War

Is this a board wipe?

It sure looks like it.

Yes, they are all gone. You can save one of your Forwards by returning it to your hand, and the rest will disintegrate into the Break Zone. One way around it is to have a card that boosts your power. Like Wakka (1-180R) since we’re talking about Water cards.

Then all you need to do is find a way to give Asura, Haste and she will attack and reduce the power of 6 of your opponent’s Forwards (if they have any left) by another 4000. Thus your opponent will have no front line, allowing you to attack and conquer.

It’s pretty straight Forward.

26-115H – Mid Previa

Grandson of Cid.

Mid is an engineer just like Grampa. And, Mid will engineer your deck like there is no tomorrow.

Mid will come in for a whopping 9CP. And. once he comes in you’ll reveal the top 5 cards of your deck and you will play up to 3 cards, (1 Forward, 1 Backup and 1 Monster) with a total cost of 8CP on to the field.

This is a way of getting bodies on the field, but it it worth it? It’s a high cost just to play Mid, add in the cards that you’re sending to the Break Zone, and what if all you reveal are Monsters. Low cost ones, and you don’t even get half way to 8CP.

Just something to think about.

26-116C – Malboro

I just realized that all these Monsters are the same. In that they all become Forwards and whenever they attack they have an ability that goes off. Also when they deal damage to your opponent, you can put said Monster into the Break Zone, and have another ability that will go off.

When Malboro attacks, one of your opponent’s Forwards lose 2000 power.

And if Malboro deals damage to your opponent, you can put Malboro into the Break Zone and all of your opponent’s Forwards lose 4000 power.

Once that is done, you can go to town on your opponent Swinging left and right. Hopefully you’ll deplete their resources.

26-117H – Yuna

Earth/Water Dark Knight Yuna! Remember that.

Whenever Yuna attacks, you can put the top 2 cards of your deck into the Break Zone and deal 5000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards. That’s not bad, considering that you will probably Break that Forward, but this is not the reason you’ll play Yuna.

Nope, the reason is that once you get to 6 points of damage, Yuna will deal 5000 damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards for every 10 cards that you have in your Break Zone. If you have 20 cards that’s 10,000 damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards. That is more than enough to send them all to the Break Zone. If there are some lingering around, you can always Play Tidus (1-163L) And he will take care of them.

This is a great card, but you won’t want to play this at Prerelease, cause well, at 6 points of damage you lose the game.

26-118C/15-123C – Oracle

Here’s a reprint, of a reprint, of a reprint.

So, we’re just going to, you guessed it, Copy/Paste from Opus XV Crystal Dominion.

“I had a plan with Oracle. And then I realized that it wouldn’t work.

So, scratch that.

Oracle will give you a crystal every time she enters the field. You can dull, and put her in the Break Zone to reduce damage to one of your Forwards and grab her back with Robel-Akbel.

Oracle’s use will be determined by the abilities that revolve around Crystal use.”

26-119R – Leviathan

Dull 2 Forwards or Pay 3CP. The choice is yours to make.

What do you get in exchange?

You can return one of your opponent’s Forwards or Monsters to their hand.

And, that is it.

Is it worth it? I mean you’re not breaking the card and they can always replay the card and get all of the enter the field abilities that come with it.

On the other hand, you’re returning the Forward that is in the way of you winning the game.

26-120L – Lenna

I don’t know where to start, so I’ll start with the abilities.

Lenna comes in and you can either have your opponent choose a Forward to send to the Break Zone, or you can search for a Warrior of Light and add it to your hand.

Now if you have Faris on the field, you can use both abilities.

Lenna costs 4CP and has 8000 power.

You can say this isn’t a lot for a Legend, but you are sending a Forward to the Break Zone and that is always good, even if you’re not the one picking which Forward is being sent.

25-086R – Abzu

You would think that, if your Job was Corneo’s Pet, you should have some synergy with Don Corneo.

But, that’s not happening. Not with Abzu.

That doesn’t mean that Abzu is a bad card, no Abzu is actually pretty decent.

Abzu doesn’t let your opponent’s Forwards gain any buff to their power.

Abzu is also a Forward and whenever Abzu attacks, one of your opponent’s Forwards lose 5000 power until the end of the turn.

You might break that Forward or you might not. But, Abzu will have a good chance at surviving.

25-087C – Abzu Shoat

I’m seeing doubles, and they can turn into triples.

You can have 3 Abzu Shoats on the field at once, at 1CP each you can have a little bit of fun.

First off you can dull Abzu Shoat and discard a Water card to have one of your opponent’s Forwards lose 1000 power until the end of the turn.

Or you can send Abzu Shoat into the Break Zone, and have one of your opponent’s Forwards lose all of their abilities.

If you have all 3 one the field, and they all use that second ability, you might just be able to crack through your opponent’s defenses.

Let’s see this one in action.

25-088H – Famfrit, the Darkening Cloud

Here’s another way to get rid of a Backup that has lost it’s use after it entered the field.
By removing one of your Water Backups from the game, you will reduce the cost to cast Famfrit by 2CP.

After that, Famfrit will break a Forward that has an Auto ability that was triggered.
Not only that, but you will also draw a card.

And, this my friends makes Famfrit, the Darkening Cloud a Free Play!

I’ll take 3!

25-089R – Cagnazzo

I remember fighting this overgrown turtle.

Coming in at 2CP, Cagnazzo acts more like a Summon than a Forward. When Cagnazzo enters the field, you will choose one of your opponent’s Forwards, and send it back to their hand.

Now, if Golbez is already on the field, you can take that Forward and chuck it into the Break Zone.

And, that’s it.

You’ll have a 5K body on the field, which you will want to find a way to Break Cagnazzo, just so you can replay him.

Imagine having Cagnazzo back when Neo-Exdeath was big.

25-090C – Quacho Queen

2 cost Backup that is also a Common.

Quaho Queen will give a WoFF Forward +1000 power until the end of the turn.

And, that is it.

There’s not much to write about her, so I’m just writing whatever comes to mind, just so it can take up some space.

We don’t want to leave an empty square next to Quacho Queen.

25-091H – Kraken (III)

Now this is a card that you have been waiting for! And, you didn’t even know it.

Kraken reduces the cost of all of your Summons and Monsters by 1CP!

That means you can get more Monsters out, quicker and more efficiently.

Not only that, but Kraken will also remove one of your opponent’s Backups from the game for as long as Kraken is on the field.

This one is going straight into my Bomb deck.

I’ll take 3 of these, and let’s not get into the Amano Art.

25-092C – Cloud of Darkness

A what now?

How is Cloud of Darkness a Common.

Cloud of Darkness comes in for 5CP and sends all of your opponent’s Forwards into the Break Zone!

Except for 2. Your opponent will choose 2 Forwards that they can keep.

All you need after that is find a way to get rid of the other 2 Forwards, you can use Sophie from this set for one, and the other one, well that’s up to you.

Cloud of Darkness also has 8000 power, so she will be able to block a couple of attacks, or deal some damage. Whichever you prefer will work.

25-093C – Corsair

Corsair shall come in and return a 2 cost Forward to their owner’s hand. Your opponent’s Forward that is.

Coming in with 3000 power, Corsair will be able to block an attack, and he will be sent to the Break Zone.

And, that is where you want Corsair to be. In the Break Zone.

Why?

Because you’ll want to find a way to play Corsair from the Break Zone, for when Corsair enters the field, Corsair will once again return one of your opponent’s Forwards to their hand, but they will also draw a card for you.

And, if you can find a way to keep bring Corsair back, you’ll have enough cards in your hand to put your plan into overdrive.

25-094C – White Mage

Here’s your Water Elemental Backup.

White Mage is ready to come in and do what White Mage needs to do.

White Mage will either raise a 1 cost Forward from the Break Zone, and bring it back to your hand.

Or, White Mage will draw you a card.

I can’t think of many 1CP Forwards that would be worth grabbing.

And, I was wrong. There are plenty of 1 cost Forwards worth choosing.

I might even use this one in my Octopus/Pirate deck that is still in the works.

25-095C – Cecil

For 5CP you get a Meat Shield with 9000 power.

Not only that, but whenever your Forwards are dealt damage by your opponent’s abilities, Cecil will reduce that damage by 2000. Hopefully helping your Forwards survive that damage.

I’d say this would be a good card if there is a way to reduce Cecil’s CP.

You can probably play Cecil 20-075L, and switch this one in, Or you can have Rosa 20-125R on the field, which will allow you to draw a card when Cecil enters the field. This would technically make Cecil 3CP.

Other than that, there’s not much to say about this one.

25-096L – Tidus

For 5CP you can return a Backup to your hand, and then the next Final Fantasy X Character that you play, it’s cost will be reduced by 3CP.

There’s 2 cards that I would pick to return to your hand. Rikku (2-071R), as it would be a Free Play to play Rikku back to the field and have her activate all of your Forwards. Or, you can return Brother (1-197S) to your hand and play him back to the field to have you search for a Final Fantasy X Character and add it to your hand.

If you decide to go with Brother, Tidus is now technically a free play.

And, don’t you think that Tidus is done here.

Every time Tidus or a Final Fantasy X Character enters your field, you will choose one of your opponent’s Forwards and they will lose 4000 power.

That will be 4000 from Tidus, and 4000 from Brother one play and you just might break 2 o your opponent’s Forwards.

25-097H – Doctor Cid

Time for some research, and who better than Doctor Cid.

4CP can be paid only with Water CP in order to cast Cid.

And, when he enters the field, you can place one of your opponent’s Forwards and put them at the bottom of their deck. That way the pesky Forward that has been bothering you for some time now, needs plenty of resources to be able to come out again to cause you some more trouble.

And whenever one of your opponent’s Forwards leaves the field, for any reason, Doctor Cid will begin his research and will allow you to draw a card. Once you have that card in hand, the research begins as you decide which card you will discard.

Simple as that.

25-098R – Broden

An owner?

What does Broden own?

I’m sure if you played Final Fantasy VII Rebirth you would know.

But, just saying Owner as a Job Title?

Yeah, this is the second Owner we have had so far. Soon we’ll be able to build a deck.
And as an Owner, Broden doesn’t do anything. He’ll just give you 2 cards and then just stand around taking up space. You’ll want to get rid of him, or don’t even bother playing him.

25-099C – Porom

Don’t like your hand?

Porom is here to help.

She’ll let you change out 1 card, with a new card from the top of your deck.

And, if that didn’t work, you can discard a Palom, draw 2 cards and then discard another card.

Is this a good strategy?

Maybe, Maybe not. But, don’t give up that card that you might need later.

25-100R – Matt

If Matt is here, you know that Glenn and Lucia are around the corner somewhere.

Matt comes in for 2CP, and he will be a good addition to your SOLDIER deck. All SOLDIERs are welcome, as with Matt on the field, all of your SOLDIERs will not be able to be chosen by your opponent’s abilities. This means that I’m 99.99% sure that either Glenn or Lucia, will have All SOLDIERS, cannot be chosen by your opponent’s Summons.

Matt also has the ability to lower a Forwards power by 2000. Which could be the little bit of power that you need to help break that Forward.

He also has First Strike.

25-101L – Meia

Are there enough MOBIUS cards to make this worthwhile? Enough to make a MOBIUS themed deck?

Meia comes in and if you decide to remove a MOBIUS card from the game, your opponent will choose one of their Forwards and they will put it in the Break Zone.

Meia can also reduce the cost of casting a Summon by 1, all you have to do is remove a MOBIUS card from your Break Zone.

I mean, maybe.

I would rather use Meia (16-123L).

25-102C – Rosa EX

Rosa comes in and searches for either Cecil or Ceodore, and brings them home.
Bringing her cost down a notch to 2CP, and she comes with 5000 power as well. Which is not bad.

And, let’s not forget Shell, because Rosa gives her family protection from your opponent’s Summons and abilities, in that they cannot choose Rosa, Cecil or Ceodore.

Are there better Rosas? Yes, but that doesn’t mean that you should ignore this one.
