29-096R – Wol

Wol is now a Viking.

I don’t know if he’ll replace any of the previous Vikings that we already have, but at least the art looks good.

You’re probably wondering why I prefer the older Vikings. Well, As the other Vikings just draw you a card when they enter or leave the field, Wol draws you a card, but you have to discard a card as well.

Now that I look a little closer, I see Wol’s Crystal ability that draws you a card. And, you can use it once per turn.

That changes things a little.

Wol won’t replace your old Vikings, but you can add him to your Vikings deck. All you need to do is find a way to generate Crystals. Maybe we’ll get new Standard Vikings in this set.

29-097R – Elza EX

This is a great card, I’ve already added it to my MBM deck.

Elza comes on in and searches for either Raz or Rikken.

And, that’s it.

So, why would I add it to my MBM deck for that?

You’ll just have to take a look at Raz.

29-098R – Quina

I don’t know. Quina still doesn’t have a great card yet.

I mean, you get an 8K body, and a chance to have one of your opponent’s Forwards to lose 5000 power. Which I would say there are better ways to get that effect. Cause removing 3 cards is like paying 6CP, sure you get to draw a card as well, but that’s not a reason to play Quina.

I shall pass on this card.

And, if anyone would like to tell me why they would play it, I’d like to know.

I got to say though, that the artwork is magnificent as always.

29-099H – Jed

Ninja Jed, ready to strike from the shadows.

Jed comes in and if you already have another SOPFFO Character on the field, Jed will return one of your opponent’s Forwards to their hand. Plus Jed will draw you 1 card, bringing his cost down to 2CP. And for an 8K body, that is cheap.

Not only that, but anytime a Ninja attacks, one of your opponent’s Forwards will lose 2000 power and all of it’s abilities.

I think Ninjas are coming along nicely.

These SOPFFO heroes, will be something to look at with the next couple of sets.

29-100R – Sealion

This is a pretty decent Monster that will search for a Forward of 3CP or less, and you can add it to your hand.

And what’s more? Sealion will also become a Forward if you have 5 Backups on the field. A Forward with 9000 power.

I can see this one being played. Even if it’s just for the card that you’ll search for.

29-101H – Syldra

Hoping for Faris?

Play Syldra and you just might get lucky. Syldra will play a 6 cost Faris or less, from the top 5 cards of your deck onto the board for free. Which isn’t bad, you’d be actually paying 1CP less if you get it.

What happens if you whiff on the reveal?

You can still play a 4CP Forward from the top 5 cards.

Hopefully you’ll hit something. If not, then at least you have some great artwork to look at for a second or 2.

29-102C – Cecil

For a Common this is a great card. Cecil gives you 2 options that you can pick from when he enters the field.

One is to draw a card, and the other is to play a character that cost 2CP or less from your hand on to the field.

Either way, you’re getting CP back that you used to pay for Cecil.

After that you’ll have a 9K body on the field.

I don’t see this card in a FFIV themed deck, but I do see it splashed in some Water decks.

29-103H – Setzer

What a card!

If you ever were looking for a Setzer to base your deck around, this would be it.

Setzer comes on in and finds a Forward that can Warp from the top 7 cards of your deck. If you find one, you can Warp him on the spot. The best part? You only place 1 Warp Counter on that Forward, meaning that that Forward will come in on your next turn.

Dive Bomb, your late game special. How many cards are in your Break Zone? Multiply that by 1000, and deal that damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards. The catch? You have to split that damage among all the Forwards that you’re targeting. You might just have enough to clear your opponent’s front line.

And, if you do. You are set.

Or at least you better be.

29-104L – Diamond Weapon

We now have a rotating cast of Weapons now.

Diamond Weapon will search for another Weapon. (Other than Water of course) And you can then play it onto the field. Meaning that, that 6CP you paid to cast Diamond Weapon is credit for the Weapon after it.

Not only that, but you can pay 4CP once per turn to cast a Weapon from your hand onto the field. Yes, the cheapest Weapon to cast is 4CP, but you don’t have to worry about color fixing. You can play From Nightmares Ruby Weapon, without needing Fire CP.

You’d think that that’s enough but we skipped Diamond Weapon’s first ability. Whenever Diamond Weapon or another Weapon enters the field, your opponent selects one of their Forwards and they will send it to the Break Zone.

And, with 9000 power, Diamond Weapon will be a tough one to break.

29-105L – Tidus

Now I see why we have been selling plenty of FFX staples recently.

Tidus has come, and is ready to retire Opus I Tidus (1-163L).

Tidus comes in with Brave, and 9000 power, and when he enters the field (or attacks) one of your opponent’s Forwards will lose 4000 power.

This seems all basic, but take a look at his second ability. Tidus can attack as many times as the points of damage you have received. Meaning, that Tidus can attack up to 6 times if your back is against the wall. He’ll pick apart your opponent’s defenses and slowly makes holes for your attacks to go through.

You might want to keep this one up your sleeve, until it’s time to unleash him.

You can just grab Emissaries of Light Tidus for the beginning of the match, and have this one for after you already received a couple points of damage.

29-106H – Dion

Is it just me, or does this card not make any sense?

I know what it’s trying to say, but the way it’s worded has me re-reading the card.

Basically, you can pay 2CP less than the normal cost to prime into Bahamut, if you have another 6 Characters on the field. And that should be easy.

If not then there really isn’t any reason to Prime into Bahamut as the Priming cost is equal to Bahamut’s cost. Unless your hand sucks and you’d rather draw 2 cards.

Which in turn can change your whole board.

29-107C – Seer (FFTA2)

What does the Seer see?

The Seer sees a chance at breaking one of your opponent’s Forwards.

As long as you have a Summon in your hand, you can use Seer’s ability to deal at least 14,000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

And, that’s not counting in abilities that can buff Seer’s power up even more.

29-108C – Tonberry

The one cost Water Monster.

Doesn’t do much, and that is disappointing.

Tonberry is feared, and all this one does is make a Forward lose 2000 power.

Where is Chef’s Knife?

Where’s the ability that deals damage?

Where’s the fear of Tonberry?

C’mon Square-Enix, give Tonberry the card it deserves!

Oh, and you draw a card when you use Tonberry’s ability.

29-109R – Porom

The other twin, which looks like it’s just the same card. So, we’ll just copy/paste here

“We have the twins back doing what the twins do best. Twincast.

Well that’s the one option. If you have both Palom and Porom on the field, you can use Porom’s ability and deal one of your opponent’s Forwards 20,000 damage.

If not then you can just use Porom’s first ability and deal 5000, which is still good, depending on what you’re targeting.

Plus, you get a 2 cost Backup that will stick around until you need to use her abilities.”

29-110C – Yuna EX

Before we start, would you look at that art?

It’s an amazing piece of art, Yuna with all her Summons surrounding her.

What does the card do?

It grabs one of your opponent’s Forwards and puts it at the bottom of their deck.

And, that’s it. And that is more than enough.

29-111C/15-123C – Oracle

What had I written during Crystal Dominion?

“I had a plan with Oracle. And then I realized that it wouldn’t work.

So, scratch that.

Oracle will give you a crystal every time she enters the field. You can dull, and put her in the Break Zone to reduce damage to one of your Forwards and grab her back with Robel-Akbel.

Oracle’s use will be determined by the abilities that revolve around Crystal use.”

Now, I’m wondering what my plan was in the first place.

29-112C – Raz

This is great.

For 2CP you can have your opponent choose one of their Forwards and Raz will send it to the Break Zone.

After that, you can have Raz block Attackers left and right, in order to be able to play another one.

Don’t forget Elza can search for Raz.

29-113C – Rikken

Recycling Rikken.

I just actually read this card for the first time. No, it;s not the first time I’ve seen it, but it’s the first time I actually paid attention.

I always read place 2 cards in your Break Zone, when it actually says, at the bottom of your deck.

This card just got better. Instantly.

It’s the same card as before, but now I like it more than I used to.

Rikken comes in draws 2 cards, and as we mentioned, you can then put 2 cards from your hand at the bottom of the deck. Meaning you can still use those cards later.

Rikken also has the ability to give one of your Sky Pirates +1000 power. You don’t even have to pay for this ability.

I think I might like Opus X Rikken just a little bit more.

29-114C – Lenna

Lenna has a simple job, and it should work great in your Wol7 decks.

Activate a Warrior of Light at the end of your turn.

Anyone will do.

She’s also a Forward, so you might need to protect her a bit, as she only has 5000 power.

Blissful Lightning

Shop for these Singles and more at our TCG Player Store!

29-077C – Aranea

Dragoons just got a heavy hitter in the form of a Common. What is it with great Common cards in this set?

Aranea comes in for 4CP and a 7K body.

Once she enters the field she will break a Forward whose cost is less then the number of Lighting Characters that you control on the field. And, since you’re playing Dragoons, you’ll probably have enough to Break any of their Forwards.

Odin with a body.

29-078R – Omega Weapon

This is what a Weapon should look like.

As soon as Omega Weapon enters the field you get to choose between Breaking a Forward, or dealing 5000 damage to all the Forwards.

This is cheaper than Odin. And, Omega Weapon gets to stick around with a 10K body. You don’t see too much of that.

I am liking this.

A little too much.

*Thinking to myself (I can get MBM to 5 Backups really fast.)

Yes!

You have to have at least one Omega Weapon in your deck if you’re running Lightning.

End of story.

29-079C – Kain

Another Dragoon, the almighty Kain.

Don’t believe me? Just ask Cecil.

Kain “jumps” right in and breaks one of your opponent’s Forwards (3CP or less). That’s enough to play this one, but Kain comes in with 9000 power.

You’re getting some bang for your CP.

Oh, and Kain comes in with Haste when you have 5 points of damage.

29-080C – Chaos

Ok, this is different. And, it’s diabolical.

You play Chaos on to the field, and your opponent chooses what Chaos will do to them.

Do they want to send 2 Forwards into the Break Zone?

Or.

Do they want to discard 3 cards from their hand?

You just drop Chaos, and your opponent will take care of the rest.

29-081C – Coeurl

Another 1 cost Monster, that will draw you a card on it’s way out.

But, just what does Coeurl do?

It will deal 5000 damage to a 2 cost Forward.

I mean, it could break it, it might not, but most Forwards at 1CP or 2CP don’t have much power.

Might as well.

29-082R – Kelger

Can you say Free Play?

That’s what you get with Kelger, if you have Bartz or a Dawn Warrior already on the field.

But, that’s not all.

Kelger gives you a Crystal when he enters the field, and since he came in for Free because you already have a Dawn Warrior on the field, Kelger will give you another Crystal as well.

Meaning you get to play Kelger for Free and you gain 2 Crystals.

What’s not to like?

29-083C – Koru-Moru

Here is a perfect use for Yoran-Oran’s ability.

Koru-Moru, can break a Forward with a cost of up to 4CP. And, Koru-Moru does have 2 abilities for this, and yes one does cost less than the other.

Either way Koru-Moru is a great card to have on the field, with a couple of cards in your hand just incase you have to get rid of a 4 cost Forward.

And, Koru-Moru’s cost is only 2CP, so this is pretty much a no brainer.

29-084R – Jessie

Who doesn’t like a card that searches for another card?

Jessie is here, and that is exactly what she does. Searches for a Final Fantasy VII Forward.

And, that is it.

3CP for a Backup.

Yeah, that’s it.

29-085R – Cidolfus

The Lightning Dominant that primes into, you guessed it, Ramuh.

For 2CP and another 2CP you can get Cidolfus primed into Ramuh, and when anyone primes into anything, you get to grab a Lightning Summon from your Break Zone.

Ok, I guess.

I’m not really feeling Cidolfus here, nor his Prime buddy Ramuh.

And, since I said that, someone is going to pull out all the stops build a deck around these 2 and win the World Championship.

Lol.

29-086H – Shadow

This is an early play.

Turn 1 to be exact.

Warp Shadow in, play a couple of Backups and you’ll skip your next turn. Or not, you can just wait another 2 turns instead, and you can still play hand.

You’ll get a 9K body, plus a Lightning card of 2CP or less when Shadow does come in.

I’d say this is worth a look at.

1CP for 2 characters is a yes in my book.

I’d wait 4 turns and still be happy to use it.

29-087L – Sephiroth

Que One Winged Angel.

If you have removed a Sephiroth from the game, Sephiroth will cast 3CP less, making him a 2CP/9K body. But even at 5CP, Sephiroth is still a steal of a play.

Plus you can remove a card to draw 2 cards.

Think about it. Haste, First Strike a big body.

What else can you ask for?

I’ll tell you.

Telluric Fury! Break a Forward. Yes, it’s an S ability. Mono-Sephiroth coming in strong. As long as you get Sephiroth on the field, and you have another 46 Sephiroths in your deck (the other 3 slots belong to Aldo), You’ll be breaking Forwards left and right, and your opponent will be trying to figure out a way to keep Forwards on the board.

29-088C – Soldier (FFTS)

I can’t find the right words, but this card is great.

Soldier comes in and is just a regular Forward until he is sent to the Break Zone. And that’s when he becomes capital G for Great.

When Soldier is sent to the Break ZOne, he will choose one Forward and deal it damage equal to his power.

And, if you spent your time giving him +1000 here and there, he’ll be able to take out some of the big boys too.

Damage 3, +1000 power
Opus I Lulu, +1000 power
And, I’m sure there are plenty more ways to buff his power up.

29-089C/15-095C – Ninja

What was I thinking?

What did Pelna do during Crystal Dominion?

“Another simple Backup that should cost you about 1CP.

Later on when you need to, Dull and put Pelna in the Break Zone and give all the FFXV Forwards you control +2K”

One thing is for sure. You’ll gain a Crystal with Ninja.

29-090R – Noctis

Will you take a look at this?

Noctis comes in for 3CP, but you can only play him if you already have a Final Fantasy XV Forward on the field.

A 9k body, and every time Noctis attacks, he grabs a retainer from the Break Zone. Every time. Period.

That means you’ll never be short on CP, as you’ll be getting a card back every turn. You can even be grabbing the same card over and over again. Use it to pay for a card, then grab it back so you can use it once more.

Or, you can just grab the card that you need.

29-091H – Barnabas (XVI)

Barnabas has one job. Prime into Odin.

Other than that, there are better cards to play for an 8K body. And, most of them cost 4CP.

But, if you will Prime into Odin, then there is no second guessing it. Especially since you can pay 2CP for Barnabas, if you remove the 3 Final Fantasy XVI cards from your Break Zone, and another 2CP to Prime into Odin.

That’s 1CP less than just playing Odin by himself.

29-092C – Prompto

Keeping up with Noctis, Prompto does just about the same thing. But, Prompto needs to use an S ability in order to do so.

Unlike Noctis though, Prompto will let you draw a card when he enters the field.

And, for 2CP?

That’s a free play right there. You’d be out of your mind not to play this card. Even if you just play Prompto to draw a card, and break him the next turn. It’s worth it.

29-093L – Meia EX

Meia will come in and search for a MOBIUS Character, and if the Character you search for is Wol, you will also gain a Crystal, and any MOBIUS Character that enters the field will also have Haste.

For 3CP, I would say that this is a great card to play. Meia also has a 7K body. We just need a Full Art now.

You didn’t hear this here, but I would say it might be time to dust off that Opus V Wol that’s been gathering dust.

29-094H – Ramuh

Deal a Forward 5000 damage.

Ok.

Or, deal a Forward 7000 damage and draw a card.

Only difference is that you’ll use a Ramuh to pay for Ramuh.

And, that turns this into a Free Summon.

And, we all like Free Summons.

29-095H – Ramuh (XVI)

Ok, so we’re seeing Ramuh before we see Cidolfus.

Which means we’re just looking at the second half of the Prime. And that is … uhm .. not what I expected to see.

Why? because you have the extra cost that will let you draw 2 more cards. Hopefully, if they’re both Lightning or FFXVI cards.

I’ll say that Ramuh should only be played if he gets Primed in. If not then I’ll take a pass.

But, he does have Thunderstorm, which deals 5000 damage to 2 of your opponent’s Forwards.

I might change my mind on this card once I see Cidolfus.

Blissful Ice

Shop for these Singles and More at our TCG Player Store!

29-020R – Astos

I’m liking this Astos. The only thing that would make it better is 8-bit Pixel art. C’mon Square-Enix, give us what we want! Or, at least what Kardboard Korner wants.

Astos a 2cost Forward that will Dull//Freeze one of your opponent’s Forwards.

So far, so good.

Astos will stay on the field, and once he blocks one of your opponent’s attacks and gets sent to the Break Zone, Astos will search for another Astos, and that Astos will be played on to the field dull, means that Astos will Dull//Freeze one of your opponent’s Forwards once again.

3 of these in any Ice deck will be good.

29-021R – Ultima Weapon Origin

Ok, we got a Weapon.

Ultima Weapon is more like a Shotgun. Double Barrel. You are able to deal 2000 damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards.

You can then Activate Ultima Weapon Origin and use that ability again. That’ll bring the total damage to 4000 per Forward. You’ll probably break a few of them, and the others will be on the verge of being broken, so your attacks will go through or you’ll break those Forward when they block.

And, with a 9K body, Ultima Weapon Origin will stick around long enough to be a thorn in your opponent’s side.

29-022R – Cray Claw

4CP for a Monster? Are there other Monsters that cost 4CP? Quite a few actually.

Cray Claw comes on in and deals one of your opponent’s Forwards 5000 damage, and depending on how many cards they have in their hand, that damage can go up to 8000. Which is good enough to break a Forward, depending on the Forward that is.

And, if you have 5 Backups on the field, Cray Claw will also become a Forward with 9000 power.

It’s not bad, It’s not great, it’s decent.

29-023C – Goblin

A 1 cost Monster.

Cheap.

Deals a dull Forward 3000 damage.

Draws you a card.

That’s about it.

29-024H – Shiva

For 5CP you can choose up to 3 abilities, and all of these are good as stand alone, but when you can combine, 3 of the 4 choices, you’re going to cause disruption.

1) Dull/Freeze 2 Forwards
2) Dull/Freeze a Backup
3) Your opponent discards a card
4) All your Ice Forwards gain +3000 power.

Mix and match, and then attack.

29-025R/26-029R – Shiva (XVI)

“Shiva is a great card to play all by herself. You don’t even need Jill to Prime into her. But, you probably should. It’s cheaper in the long run and you get a better ability.

When Shiva comes in you will Freeze all of your opponent’s Forwards. If you Primed into Shiva you will Freeze all of your opponent’s Characters instead.

Ice Age? Yes, let’s have your opponent discard 2 cards from their hand. This works even better if they only have 2 cards in their hand.

Let’s see what Jill does.”

29-026C – Cid Raines

This is where your discard deck will shine a bit more.

Cause every time your opponent discards a card, Cid Raines will Dull/Freeze one of their Characters.

The good thing is that Cid doesn’t need anyone else for this, he can take care of it all by himself as well.

When you have 3 points of damage and Cid enters the field, your opponent discards a card. And, let’s not forget about Seraphic Ray, where your opponent discard a card as well.

.

29-027L – Shantotto

This Shantotto looks spicy. And, how does an Ice card have a Fire spell in the art?

Anyway, on to the card. Shantotto being Shantotto, as she comes in and casts Dull//Freeze on all the Characters except for Mages.

That’s a quick way to get the upper hand on your opponent, they won;t be able to block anything this turn, and you can come in swinging. All you need is a way to activate all of your Forwards that aren’t Mages and you can go to town.

Shantotto still has one more ability that Activates once per turn.

Break a dull Forward, Freeze 2 Backups, or have your opponent discard a card.

All of which are good.

Is this the card we need to get a Mage deck going?

29-028C – Jill

What is it with Jill and Freezing your opponent?

Think about it.

Jill and Jihl Nabaat, what do they have in common? They’re both Ice cards and they both Freeze.

But, Jill will also Dull 2 Forwards while Freezing them.

Plus a 7K body that can Prime into Shiva, I’ll take it.

29-029R – Xezat

I like this card.

Xezat is the ultimate protection against your opponent’s Summons and abilities. As long as you have a couple of Crystals.

Your opponent must choose Xezat when they are targeting. Meaning that while Xezat will probably be broken, you can use his second ability that costs 2 Crystals, send him to the Break Zone, since he was already going there, and remove one of your opponent’s Forwards from the game.

You can choose the Forward that cast the ability, or choose another Forward cause that ability will fizzle out anyways.

Either way, you’re slowing your opponent down, and Xezat did what he came in to do.

Xezat is also an 8K body.

29-030H – Celes

Yes, put this in any Ice deck.

Celes comes in for 4CP and you can play an Ice Character from your hand onto the field. 3CP or less. That means that you’re only paying 1CP to play Celes.

And if you’ve been playing Ice like it should be played, your opponent will have at least a couple of dull Forwards on the field. That means that Celes can not be chosen by Summons or abilities.

You can also dull 2 of your Forwards, in order to dull one of your opponent’s Forwards, which will add to the total number of Forwards that your opponent has.

Celes also has a 7K body, so she will be sticking around for quite a bit.

29-031C – Onion Knight (FFTS)

I actually used this card at Midnight Prerelease. And, I got to say it won me a match.

Onion Knight, just like in the games, gets stronger later in the game.

Depending on how much damage you have taken. Let’s say at 3 points of damage, Onion Knight gains +2000 power. And at 5 points of Damage, Onion Knight gains +2000 power and First Strike.

This gives Onion Knight a total of 9000 power and First Strike at the end of the game. And, you can have 3 of them on the field at the same time.

Just throw a couple into your Ice decks.

29-032C – Chadley

I’m trying to figure this out. Chadley acts more like a Monster than a Forward. But then again, there are Monsters that act more like a Forward than a Monster.

Chadley has one job, and since he can’t attack or block, that’s all he gets to do.

Every other turn, Chadley will give one of your Forwards +3000 power.

You will be able to use that ability as long as Chadley has a Research Counter on him. If not, then you can just dull Chadley to give him a Research Counter.

29-033L – Terra

As much as I want to say that I like this card, I can’t.

I was never one for a Summon deck. I hardly have any Summons in any of my decks for that matter. And Terra here, looks like she needs to be in a Summon heavy deck.

Terra comes in and you an search for a Summon, chuck it into the Break Zone, and then you can choose 2 Characters. Dull/Freeze them.

And then you can put Terra into the Break Zone, and play a Summon that costs 5CP or less for free. Well, technically it’s not free. You’re paying 3CP to use that ability, and you’re getting rid of Terra in the process.

I’ll pass.

29-034C – Tyro EX

And, here I thought they were going to make up for banning Opus XI Tyro.

This time we get Tyro in Ice, and he doesn’t do a lot, but he can grab and Ice Character when he enters the field. And, that’s only if there is an Ice Character in the top 4 cards of your deck.

Other than that this Tyro is just a Backup. that will generate you 1CP per turn.

His ability also comes off of an EX Burst, so that might mean something.

.

29-035H – Torgal

This isn’t a Wolf, it’s a sacrificial lamb. That both Clive and Jill will use. Now I haven’t played FFXVI yet, but I think this might be part of the story. Don’t tell me if I’m right or wrong.

Anyways, back to the point. Torgal is a .. you guessed it .. a Free Play! As long as you have Clive or Jill on the field.

All Summons and abilities must choose Torgal, and when he is sent to the Break Zone, your opponent will discard a card.

Plus, Torgal will also act as a Meat Shield. that’s why Torgal is a Forward.

29-036C/15-038C – Knight

“Knight comes in, hands you a Crystal

Next turn, Knight Dulls himself and puts himself into the Break Zone dulling a 3 cost Forward.

Thus concludes the story of Knight”

.

.

29-037C – MAI

Where was this card when Relm was running on a rampage?

MAI is ready to get rid of those pesky Monsters. At least one of them.

And, at 2CP, this card is a definite yes in your deck, especially if you’re constantly running against Monster decks.

MAI, will break a Monster or return it to it’s owner’s hand.

All you need is a way to either break MAI, or find a way to bounce her off and on the field.

29-038H – Mog (VI)

Mog (VI) is the perfect card to play with Celes. Mog will come right in and Break a dull Forward. And when that Forward hits the Break Zone, Mog will draw you a card.

And all this for a Free Play on Mog’s part.

Mog also comes in with a 8K body, meaning he’ll be a little bit of a problem for your opponent. But, you might actually want to send Mog to the Break Zone. That way you’ll be able to play him again, and break one of your opponent’s dull Forwards once again.

24-115R – Tenzen LB

The Samurai is back! This time with a Limit Break ready to go off whenever needed.

And, what a Limit Break.

Tenzen comes in and gives all of the Samurais +3000 power, Brave, and the ability to attack twice in the same turn.

And, we already know how Samurais run. Now just take that same deck, and play Tenzen whenever you can from the the Limit Break deck.

Your Samurais will take down your opponent so fast, that your opponent will mistake them for Ninjas.

After all is said and done, if your opponent still has some life, Tenzen sticks around with a 9K body.

24-116R – Snow LB

Snow comes in and searches for Lightning. Yes, he does search for Serah as well, but we all know that you’re going to grab Lightning.

And, that is all he does.

He’s not even a decent Meat Shield, coming in with only 5000 power.

What Kind of Sentinel is that?

If you need Lightning or Serah, sure. If not, then play Lumina.

24-117R – Zidane LB

4CP for a 5K body.

You’d think you’re overpaying, but this is a Limit Break card, and Zidane cannot be blocked by a 4 cost Forward or higher. Meaning that most of Zidane’s attacks can and will go through to damage your opponent.

Also, when Zidane enters the field, your opponent discards the top 2 cards of their deck, if they are of the same element, Zidane will draw you a card.

If you’re playing any kind of Wind deck, I would keep one of these in your Limit Break deck. It’s LB cost is very low, and we all know that you have filler LB cards in that deck just to pay for the cost of the cards you actually want to use.

24-118R – Selh’teus LB

Can you spell indestructable?

S-E-L-H-T-E-U-S

Selh’teus cannot be broken by your opponent’s Summons of abilities, whether they flat out break a Forward, or if they deal damage to a Forward.

The only way your opponent will be able to get rid of Selh’teus, is by blocking her with a Forward with more power than Selh’teus has. or by returning her to your hand, in which you can just play her again. I think.

I’m not sure if Selh’teus can be returned to your hand. Or what happens to it once it is targeted to be returned to your hand.

24-119R – Gilgamesh LB

Greg?

No, that’s not Greg. Maybe it is, we all know about Gilgamesh and his inter dimensional travel.

When Gilgamesh comes in you can either break a 1 cost Forward, or remove 2 cards from your opponent’s Break Zone.

What to choose?

I’d say it depends on what is in your opponent’s Break Zone, and if your opponent has a way of bringing cards back from the Break Zone.

If you have no use for any one of these abilities, you can always just use Gilgamesh to pay for your other Limit Break cards.

24-120R – Warrior of Light LB

This is a cheap card. For what Warrior of Light does, he is extremely cheap, and I would do great in any tribal deck. Or just about any deck running a bunch of Standard Units.

Warrior of Light will protect all of your other Forwards from most of your opponents abilities.

Your Forward will not be chosen, and if they receive damage that damage will be a big fat 0.

2CP + 1LB will grant you this protection for your other Forwards, and you’ll also have an 8K body.

24-121H – Iron Giant (SOPFFO) LB

How is this a Hero, when all these Rares that we’ve just seen are better?

That is my first thought on Iron Giant.

Iron Giant comes in and you get to either deal 5000 damage to a 2 cost Forward, or deal a dull Forward 7000 damage.

There’s nothing really exciting here.

24-122H – Magna Roader LB

Magana Roader, choose one ability or choose both. It all depends on how many Wind and/or Ice Characters that you have on the field.

If it’s 4 Ice Characters, your opponent shows you their hand, and you discard one of those cards.

4 Wind Characters, and Magna Roader comes in with Haste.

If you have 4 Ice and 4 Wind you get both of these.

My question is, who is playing Ice/Wind?

24-123H – Vajradhara Wu LB

Coming from Wutai, Vajradara Wu (or Wu for short) can and will break one of your opponent’s Forwards. and after Wu will stick around as an 8K body.

How will Wu do this?

It’s quite simple really.

Wu will break a damaged Forward, or Wu will deal damage to another Forward equal to it’s power.

And, that is pretty much it.

I’d call Vajradara Wu a Summon that sticks around afterwords.

24-124H – The Ur-Dragon King LB

High cost means High Power, and that is what The Ur-Dragon King brings to the table.

You’ll spend 9CP, 2LB and you’ll need 4 Earth Characters, and 4 Lightning Characters on the field in order to get The Ur-Dragon King’s full effect.

This 9K Meat Shield has 2 abilities that go off when it enters the field.

First one is that you can grab 2 Characters from your Break Zone, bringing Ur-Dragon’s cost down to 5CP. You’ll need 4 Earth Characters for this one.

And, second you can choose one of your opponent’s Forwards and The Ur-Dragon King will break it for you. You’ll need 4 Lightning Characters for this one.

If you have the cards on the field, and sufficient CP to pay for this, I would highly recommend it.

24-125H – Tonberry & Cactuar LB

I really wanted this card to be better.

It’s not bad, I was just hoping for Superhero powers.

What we get is a choice between 2 abilities. Who would have guessed?

First one, break a Forward of 3CP or less, which isn’t bad at all.

The second choice is, look at the top 2 cards of your deck and add one to your hand, while the other one goes to the bottom of your deck.

All we have to do is now is figure out which one is Batman and which one is Robin.

I’d say Tonberry is Batman.

24-126H – Ultima Weapon LB

Fire Water Burns!

Ultima Weapon is one of these Dual Element Limit Break Cards that you know will work.

I can actually just throw it in my Bomb deck, which is filled up with Fire/Water and have the perfect Limit Break to use whenever I feel like it.

Yes, just like most of the other Dual Element LBs, you’ll need 4 Characters of each element to get the full effect.

4 Fire Characters will allow Ultima Weapon to deal 9000 damage to a Forward. If you have 4 Water Characters, Ultima Weapon will break one of your opponent’s Forwards.

What’s not to like?

The cost? It’s only 6CP. Opus I Odin costs 7CP, and only breaks 1 Forward.

From Nightmares – Water and High Tides

19-086R – Ashe EX

More like the Ashetiveator.

I really like this card. As long as you have a copy in your hand and a couple of CP available, you can keep reactivating a Forward once per turn.

The way I would do it would be. I would enter the Attack Phase. And when that attack goes through, I would play Ashe and activate that Forward so it can block.

You can actually play Ashe twice per turn. Play her in your Main Phase 1, return her to your hand during your Attack Phase and then replay her during your Main Phase 2.

The more I think about it, the more I like this card.

19-087R – Wol

Wol can’t attack, but he sure can block.

Weighing in at 2CP/9K power. He will take out some Attackers.

But, it’s Chef’s Knife that we really like. It’s 9000 damage to a Forward that cannot be reduced by other abilities.

So, once per turn you can use Chef’s Knife, then play Ashe, then use Chef’s Knife again, then play Ashe, and use Chef’s Knife once again. But, that will on;y work if you have 3 Wols in your hand. And you can. You can actually have up to 24 Wols in your deck. That’s almost half your deck. Keep your enemy at bay with this Tonberry Suit.

19-088C – Aerith

Aerith has one job, and that is to grab a Light card from the Break Zone. Other than that she’ll just hang out and give you 1CP per turn.

That’s pretty much it for this Aerith, not the best Aerith.

There’s probably a lot of better plays, unless you really need that Light card.

19-089H – Gau

I’m not going to say it this time.

I’m not. I’m going to try not to.

Gau, is actually pretty good, for what he does.

For 2CP you get a Forward that can come in during your opponents turn and buff another Category VI Character +1K power for every Category VI Character you control.

Throw him in there with the Dream Stooges, and Kefka, and you have a Forward that can block anything your opponent throws at you and survive it.

After that you can put Gau back into your deck and draw a card. Gau is wild like that. He’s a Wild Child.

19-090C – Clavat

Water’s Multi-Elemental Forward.

And by that we mean, if you pay with at least 3 Elements. Each element has had one of these cards, and Clavat is no different.

When she enters the field, if you did pay with at least 3 Elements, your opponent chooses one of their Forwards and sends it packing. Straight to the Break Zone.

Other than that Clavat will allow you to draw a card, and then discard a card when she enters the field.

19-091R – Sapphire Weapon

Another Free Card, this set is spoiling us.

Every Element has a way to cast cards for Free. And, we like free. Even the guy in the back, with the Cloud Signature card in his back pocket. You know he likes FREE too.

It’s not that often that you can play a 9k Body for free. But Sapphire Weapon here can. As long as you have at least 5 Weapon cards in your Break Zone, Sapphire Weapon can come in for free.

You have yourselves a Water deck, just throw in Ruby, and Emerald and just chuck them to pay for other Cards. And when Sapphire show up, you know it’s coming in with a Vengeance. Or something like that.

If Sapphire Weapon gets broken somehow, no worries. You’ll draw 2 cards when you put Sapphire Weapon into the Break Zone.

You might even get lucky and draw another Sapphire Weapon that you can play for free.

19-092C – White Mage

Well, you can sort of count White Mage as a free card, but you still have to pay for it. 2CP, and if you have 3 points of Damage you get to draw a card.

Once she’s on the field, you can use her ability to return one of your opponent’s Forwards to their hand.

Just a little reminder. You’d probably want to get rid of a Forward that doesn’t have an enter the field ability.

19-093H – Strago EX

This is interesting, I think I already like this card.

Every time Strago enters the field, or is broken, you get to reveal the top 4 cards of your deck and hopefully you’ll find a FFVI card sitting there that you can add to your hand.

This also works when Strago is found when you take Damage.

And, let’s not forget about Revenge Blast. For each point of Damage you have received, your opponent’s Forward will lose 2000 power.

And with 5 different Stragos available, you might have a hand full of Stragos at 6 points of Damage. At that point you can spam Revenge Blast and take your opponent to Pound Town.

19-094R – Sanctuary Keeper

Who needs Ashe when you have Sanctuary Keeper?

For 3CP, you can have a constant Activation per turn. Not only that, this Activation comes with a +2000 power buff.

You can actually use both Ashe and Sanctuary Keeper, with 24 Wols and spam that Chef’s Knife. My deck is slowly coming into fruition. I’ll have that deck ready in no time.

19-095C – Sophia

Sophia is the opposite of Sanctuary Keeper.

At the begining of the Attack Phase, Sophia reduces the power of a Forward by 2000.

If you’re already buffing one of your Forwards by 2000, that is a 4000 power difference. Sure it’ll only worked that way if each of you only have 1 Forward on the field, but you get what I’m trying to say. Or not say.

19-096C – Tidus EX

Well, for being a high cost card, you’d think you’d get more than just drawing a card or returning a Forward to their owner’s hand.

I’m not seeing it.

The only thing I like is that it can come off from an EX Burst. Which should be a good enough reason to have some in your deck, as you can always use them to pay for Opus I Tidus’s ability.

19-097C – Tonberry

I was trying to come up with a different way to start this, but couldn’t.

Tonberry comes in like a Monster and out like a Forward.

When Tonberry comes in you draw a card, then discard a card to make him a Forward. Tonberry is technically a 4 cost Forward, but you only have to pay for 2CP as he provides the other 2CP himself.

But, when Tonberry deals damage to a Forward the Forward is broken regardless of power. He has the real Chef’s Knife, not Wol.

19-098C – Yuna

When Yuna comes in, your opponent selects the card Forward that will be sent to the Break Zone. You’ll be able to remove a Forward, but since your opponent gets to pick which one it might not always work in your favor.

This is one way to get rid of Opus XVI Tidus, but I don’t think your opponent will choose that card when Yuna enters the field. Unless, if it’s the only Forward on the field.

19-099R – Josef

Are Rebels becoming a thing?

I mean Josef here looks like a good card, especially since you most likely will be playing Firion, which will make Josef a 3CP/9K body Rebel/Monk with a sword. Wait, Monks use swords? Maybe Josef uses it for his Rebel side.

“Rebel, Rebel,
You’ve torn your dress”

Maybe that’s what the sword is for.

Where was I? Ah, yes. And, with Firion still on the field, every time Josef attack, you get to draw 1 card. Who doesn’t like drawing cards. I’ll play Josef and attack for no reason just to draw a card.

And, that’s not all. No, Sir. When Josef enters the field you can also play a Category II Forward from your hand onto the field. Any FFII Character as long as it is 3CP or less. It doesn’t even need to be a Rebel, Rebel.

19-100C – Larsa

A 2 cost Backup that really is a 4 cost.

You’ll probably be discarding a card in order to search for that XII Forward that you’re really looking for. If that Forward is on the field you probably have no use to play this card.

Sure you can reduce damage dealt to a Forward by 2000, but I believe there are better Larsas than this one.

19-101R – Leviathan

The Water God comes in as a Free Summon.

No Sacrifices needed.

Leviathan comes in, you return 1 of your opponents Forwards to their hand, and they can’t play it until the end of their next turn.

What I like about this is that they’ll have a dead card in their hands. They won’t be able to play it, and if they draw another one they’ll have 2 dead cards. They might even discard it for CP just so they can play another card.

Might come out in your favor, or you’re just delaying the fact that they can play a Forward with an enter the field ability, that might turn things in their favor. But, this is a card game, and we need cards that will give us a breather when we can get it.
Yes, Free Summons are still good.

19-102L – Refia

If you needed a reason to run a Warrior of Light deck, well now you got one.

Refia will activate all the Warrior of Light cards you have at the beginning of each of your attack phases. That means you can go all out, and attack with all your Forwards, and then during your opponents turn, you will have all your Forwards activated, just in time to start blocking.

Also, once per turn, you can dull 4 Warriors of Light, and put one of your opponents Forward back into their deck. Top or bottom, you get to choose.

And, let’s not forget about the artwork. This is a beautiful card. Only complaint is that this one didn’t come as a full art.
