Blissful Fire

29-001R/26-003R – Ifrit (XVI)

Really?

We’re starting off with reprint?

I’ll just give you what we said back when Gunslinger in the Abyss came out.

“Priming is back, and it looks like it’s better than ever.

That’s not saying much as this is the second set that we have that has Priming.

Either way, Ifrit needs to be Primed into, by Clive.

First off, when Ifrit is blocked or if he is chosen by an ability, Ifrit deal your opponent 1 point of damage. That means that your opponent will need to find a way to get rid of Ifrit A.S.A.P.

We’re not done yet.

If Clive has primed into Ifrit, Ifrit is nearly untouchable. Because, all damage dealt to Ifrit that is less than Ifrit’s power becomes a big fat 0. Zero! Zero!

Can’t say I didn’t warn you.”

29-002R – Wol

How many Wols are there in this set?

I’ve seen a couple already, and I’m sure I’ll see at least another 3.

But, this one is good. Especially with Samurais. You can just throw him in that deck alongside Tenzen.

Wol comes in with Brave and a 9K body, ready to take down your opponent’s Forwards and also block their attacks.

Let’s not forget about Wol’s Crystal ability which allows you to play a Fire Forward that costs 4CP or less from your hand on to the field. And, you can use that once per turn as long as you have Crystals to pay for it.

.

29-003R – Chimera

Decent Monster that becomes a Forward.

And, that means that even if Chimera never becomes a Forward, you’ll still get to use it’s ability thatdeals 7000 damage to a Forward.

Turning Chimera into a Forward is great, as it has an 8K body.

But, if you don’t have 5 Backups on the board, well then, Chimera will just hang out.

And, from the looks of it, we have plenty of Monsters that will become forwards at 5 Backups in this set.

.

29-004C – Clive

Well it’s not the Clive we all know.

Clive let’s you draw a card when he or any other Final Fantasy XVI Forward enters the field. And, yes this includes Prime, or at least I would think so. And, once you see what you got, you will put a card from your hand at the bottom of your deck.

Hey, at least it’s not discard a card.

Other than that, Clive has 7000 power and costs 3CP.

.

29-005L – Cloud

Beautiful card.

I think I already have this artwork on another card from some old Final Fantasy Art cards. I can’t remember from where, but it’s somewhere, unless we sold it already.

Anyways, on to the card.

When cloud enters the field you can remove 3 Fire or FFVII cards from your Break Zone, and you get to play a weakling. Yes, a weakling. Up to 2CP, and up to 5000 power. I’m sure their are great cards for this, especially since Cloud is a Warrior, and Warrior decks are all that and stuff.

But, we’re not here to talk about that.

We’re here to talk about Power Cleave/Spell Blade.

One ability.
2 Forwards.
Broken.

That sounded better in my head.

29-006C – Samurai

This isn’t bad at all.

4CP to grab a Fire Character from your Break Zone? Sure, this way you can grab Cloud, and use that S ability a couple more times.

But, if you don’t want to grab CLoud, you can always grab a Samurai, and that Samurai will deal one of your opponent’s Forward 3000 damage.

Yep, sounds good.

.

29-007C-15-007C – Samurai

Another reprint, but we should have been expecting this one. This Samurai, alongside the other 5 Standard Units, all do the same thing. They give you a Crystal.

And, since we’ve been talking about this card since Crystal Dominion came out, I’ll just leave it at that.

I’m just trying to fill this up with words, so it looks like we have something important to say.

.

.

29-008L – Zidane

How many cards, can you cast per turn? Zidane here, will deal 5000 damage for everycard that you cast that was removed from the game. Makes sence?

For 2CP you get a 5k body. And a great ability.

Zidane removes cards from the game. The top 2 cards of your deck to be exact, when he enters the field, and whenever Zidane attacks. You can then play those cards during your turn and deal 5K damage.

You can also pair this with a little Summon called Mind Flayer, which will help with removing your opponent’s cards from the game. And, you still will get the damage Zidane will deal when they come into the field.

.

29-009H – Cid Highwind

Cid can Pilot your deck for you. Or at least he can start you off to where you want to go.

Cid comes in and you can play a Final Fantasy VII Forward that costs 4CP or less (*cough Cloud *cough cough) from your hand and play it to the field.

And, whenever another Final Fantasy VII Character enters the field you draw a card. So, 7CP – 4CP = 3CP + 2CP from the card you just drew, Cid’s total cost came down to 1CP. You’ll be positive CP once you play another Final Fantasy VII Forward.

And, a 9K body, Cid will stick around for a while.

.

29-010C – Joshua

We already know that Joshua will Prime into Phoenix. But is he playable by himself?

Actually, yes.

For 2CP you can play Joshua and then you can discard a card. Then you get to deal 7000 damage to a Forward. Possible breaking it.

Once that is done, you can them Prime into Phoenix.

We’ll see what Phoenix does when we get to it.

.

29-011H – Tifa

Cloud makes a lot more sense now.

Tifa comes in with Haste, and every time she attacks, you can deal a Forward 1000 damage for every Final Fantasy VII Character that is on your field.

Rise and Fall, deals a Forward 3000 damage, and you get to draw a card. You can use this ability up to 3 times this turn. For a total of 9000 damage. This will be used mostly for a bit of ping damage here and there.

But, you won’t be using that, you’ll be using Tifa for Cloud’s S ability.

Cid Highwind >> Cloud >> Tifa >> Cloud’s S ability

29-012H – Neon

Neon is trying to take the place of Amaterasu, and if this card comes in a Full Art as well, which I think it will, you’ll be seeing a big spike in that card.

Neon comes right in for 3CP, and if you have another Strangers of Paradise Character on the field, she will deal a Forward 9000 damage.

But, Amaterasu is a Summon.

Yes, you are correct, but take a look at Neon’s Signature ability.

It’s not cancelling an ability, it’s just changing the damage dealt to your Forward to 0. A big fat 0. Neon is trying but she isn’t taking Amaterasu’s place. And that just means that they can both work together, and Fire’s aggro will be unstoppable.

29-013H – Bahamut

This is a pretty decent Summon, although you can’t cast it as a counter attack, on one of your opponent’s attacks, you can still cause some damage here.

Bahamut deals one of your opponent’s Forwards 10,0000 damage. And, when that Forward is put into the Break Zone, during this turn. You’ll deal your opponent a point of damage as well. As long as they have 5 points of damage or less.

Now you might say that Bahamut costs 6CP and that, that might be a lot to pay, but look at what you’re getting.

Plus let’s not forget about Fang and Caius. Fang can reduce the cost to cast Bahamut by 2CP, and Caius will reduce the cost by 5CP. Caius also searches for Bahamut.

Just throwing that out there.

29-014R – Palom

We have the twins back doing what the twins do best. Twincast.

Well that’s the one option. If you have both Palom and Porom on the field, you can use Palom’s ability and deal one of your opponent’s Forwards 20,000 damage.

If not then you can just use Palom’s first ability and deal 5000, which is still good, depending on what you’re targeting.

Plus, you get a 2 cost Backup that will stick around until you need to use his abilities.

.

.

29-015C – Faris

Oh, wow.

Look at that artwork! It looks like modern day Amano art.

Faris comes in and grabs a Fire or a Water Forward from your Break Zone and plays it straight to the field.

This is not bad at all, you can even throw Faris in your new Final Fantasy VII deck so she can grab Tifa, when your opponent breaks her.

And, after you grabbed that card from the Break Zone, Faris stays on the field as a 8K body. Attacking and Blocking until she is sent to the Break Zone.

You can then replay Faris.

29-016R/26-018H – Phoenix (XVI)

26-018H – Phoenix (XVI)\par

“Phoenix is ready to raise the dead … err the Knocked Out?

Of course your going to prime into Phoenix, cause if you don’t, well, there’s no point in playing this card.

Once Joshua primes into Phoenix, you’ll reveal the top 4 cards of your deck and add a couple of Fire cards or Final Fantasy XVI cards to your hand. Any cards, doesn’t have to be a Character, a Forward, a Summon, or a Monster or anything. just pick the two that you prefer.

Joshua and Phoenix will do well in any Mono-Fire deck. Or a FFXVI deck.

We still have Flames of Rebirth. Simply grab any Final Fantasy XVI Forward in your Break Zone and play it on to the field.

We’ll be seeing plenty of Phoenix.”

29-017C – Braska’s Final Aeon EX

I’m trying to see if it’s worth paying 9CP for Jecht … I mean Braska’s final Aeon.

When Jecht enters the field or leaves the field you will deal one of your opponent’s Forwards 8000 damage. That’s double dipping here.

I would say this is the Prime example of a Meat Shield. 9000 power, and when Braska’s Final Aeon is sent to the Break Zone, he’ll probably take another Forward with him.

If only Braska Could Prime into his Final Aeon.

.

29-018C – Bomb

We got a new Bomb!

And this one is pretty Bombesque. If that makes any sense.

Bomb comes in and does nothing. For now.

Bomb is actually a ticking time bomb, waiting for the moment that you will trigger it. And when you do, Bomb will deal a Forward 4000 damage and it will also draw a card for you.

You can’t go wrong with this one.

.

29-019C – Lann

I like this.

+1000 power to all the WoFF Forwards. You can’t go wrong with that.

Plus, Lann gives Reynn Haste.

If you’re playing WoFF, it’ll be a good idea to add Lann to your deck.

Dreamlike Winds

28-039H – Warrior of Light

For 4CP, Warrior of light will come on in, revealing the top 5 cards of your deck, and playing a Wind Character 2CP or less on to the field.

That’s a good start.

Warrior of Light doesn’t really shine until later in the game.

When you have 5 Wind Backups on the field, Warrior of Light will gain +4000 power, and the ability to not be targeted by your opponent’s abilities.

That’s a 9k body, ready to attack, ready to block, ready to take on Chaos!

28-040C – Sky Samurai

For 2CP and Crystal, Sky Samurai is a great card to play.

First off, she cannot be blocked by a Forward that costs 4CP or more.

Secondly, you can pay a Crystal and give her +3000 power and Haste, meaning she can attack as soon as she enters the field.
And, that is all you need to know.

Now go play this card alongside Warrior of Light.

28-041C – Edge

Coming in like a Ninja with Back Attack!

Edge enters the field and deals 4000 damage to a Forward. And since he can come in during your opponent’s turn, Edge can hit the Forward that is attacking for 4000 damage. He probably won’t break that Forward, but it should be enough for your Blocker to Break it.

And if you have received 5 points of damage, whenever Edge deals damage to a Forward the damage increases by 4000, making his enter the field ability deal 8000 damage to a Forward.

And whenever Edge attacks, his damage becomes 11,000!

28-042C – Scholar

Gain 2 Crystals.

We’re just going to Copy/Paste again.

“Here we go, a Crystal Generator.

One when Scholar comes in, and one when you use the ability to send her to the Break Zone.

Simple.

Easy to understand.

Not much else going on here.”

28-043R – Gi Nattak

4CP, 8000 power.

Formerly of Cosmo Canyon. But, technically he still lives there.

Gi Nattak has a great ability. Everytime Gi Nattak is dealt damage, you will choose one of your opponent’s Forwards, and cast Doom on it. That Doom counter will break that Forward at the end of your opponent’s turn.

They’ll think twice about trying to get rid of him, or even blocking him for that matter.

He’s not just a Forward, He’s a Gi.

Yeah, that was terrible.

28-044H – Edward

You see this, Edward’s harp is finally working.

At the end of your turn, Edwards will Activate one of your Forwards. It’s like Brave, but different.

And then we have Hastemarch.

Activate all of your Characters. As long as you have two active Wind Backups, and another Edward in your hand, you will be able to Activate all of your Characters during your opponent’s turn. That way even if you miscalculate your plan, and went all out but failed. Edward can give you that second chance.

28-045R – Zack

How does a Wind Forward from your Break Zone sound?

Zack comes on in and you can grab that Wind Forward, add it to your hand. And this ability also comes off of an EX Burst. So, you don’t even need to pay 5CP for it, as you might get lucky.

That is not all. Not at all.

You see, Zack also has another ability that reduces the cost of Wind Forwards by 2CP. Yes, it does cost 1 Wind CP for this ability, but you’re getting a discount. 2 cost Forwards now cost 1CP.

It’s like a Buy One Get One Free! On 2 cost Wind Forwards. But not at the same time. One for this turn and one for next turn.

28-046C- Zidane

Zidane comes in, looks at the top 5 cards of your deck and grabs a low cost card. 2CP or less.

If you do find one, congratulations, you just paid 1CP for a Backup.

You’ll say, yes but what else does Zidane do.

Remember that pesky Forward or Summon that you had trouble with, and you finally sent it to the Break Zone? You can use Zidane’s second ability to remove that card from the game.

And since you’ll be getting rid of Zidane, you will now be able to play another Backup.

28-047C – Summoner

A 2 cost Summoner that will produce CP until you need to grab a Summon from your Break Zone.

Not a bad deal, plus Summoner is one of the few Summons that can get rid of themselves.

Will this Summoner see much use? That depends on what Summons you have in your Break Zone.

I could see a couple of these in a few decks.

28-048H – Sylph

2CP to draw a card.

Add in a Crystal and you can protect one of your Forwards from your opponent’s abilities.

Not bad.

With the 2CP that you get back, you’ll be paying for Sylph with just a Crystal.

Sylph will come in clutch.

28-049R – Cluckatrice

Activate a Forward at the end of your turn.

Not just one turn, all of your turns.

This might actually be Edward’s pet from another universe. Yeah, I made that up.

And, Cluckatrice also becomes a Forward with 6000 power.

Now if they only made this card into a Full Art …

28-050C – Paine

First off, I will say, I never had Paine as a White Mage.

Ok let’s see here.

At the end of your turns, you can reveal the top card of your deck. And if you find a Final Fantasy X Forward there, you can add it to your hand.

Also, at the end of your turns, you can put Paine into the Break Zone, and play another Paine from your hand on to the field.
We have 8 to choose from. And, I’m guessing that sooner or later, we’re going to get a High Cost Paine, that will pair perfectly with this one.

28-051R – Black Cat

You feel lucky?

Black Cat comes in and you can play a 3 cost Character from your hand on to the field. The Bad News? Your opponent gets to do the same thing.

If they don’t have any cards in their hand, you have nothing to worry about.

And, when you’ve received three points of damage, Black Cat will also grab a Character from the Break Zone.

Meaning that you’re actually coming out +2CP.

And, with 8000 power she’ll be sticking around the field for a bit.

28-052L – Marche

This is the first good Marche that we’ve gotten since Opus XI.

And, how good this Marche is depends on how many Backups are on your field. Let’s not forget about Crystals, Marche likes Crystals this time around.

If you have 2 Backups MArche gains +1000 power and Haste.

If you have 5 Backups MArche can’t be blocked by Forwards that cost 3CP or more.

I can just leave that like this, and you’ll agree with me. But, we’re not done.

When Marche deals damage to your opponent, you can pay a Crystal, and when you do, you will draw 2 cards.

I can’t wait to see Ritz’s card.

28-053C – Maria

Oh, well this is interesting.

Maria comes in and searches for a Final Fantasy II Forward and plays it to the field.

And, that is it.

Now, if you decide to search for Guy (28-004C), once he enters the field, you will search for a Warrior or a Rebel and add it to your hand. And, Maria will turn into a Free Play. And, we all like Free Plays.

28-054L – Yuffie

You can call this a Combo Play. And, the best thing is that you only need one card to do it.

Yuffie comes in and you will Remove 2 cards from your opponent’s Break Zone from the game. You will then gain 2 Crystals.

Once those Crystals are in your hand, you can then use a Crystal to give Yuffie +1000 power and Haste.

You can then use Yuffie to attack your opponent and strike them with 9000 power, which is usually more than enough to break a Forward.

Another Crystal can be used to grant Yuffie protection from your opponent’s abilities, and 2 Crystals can be used to deal a Forward 8000 damage.

We’re going to need a bigger Crystal Generator.

28-055H – Richt

Are the Warriors of the Crystals coming back.

It sure looks like it, and they’re going to become a lot stronger.

Take Richt for example.

When he enters the field, you can pay the extra Crystal and grab a 2 cost Backup from your Break Zone and play it on to the field.

Not only that, but whenever Richt attacks, you will activate 2 of your Backups.

I haven’t seen so much activation in a set since Opus XIV.

28-056C – Leon

I mean, why would you play this card. What am I not seeing?

Leon comes in for 2CP, but if you don’t have Maria on the field or pay an extra 2CP, Leon is sent to the Break Zone.

Sure Leon might have an 8K body, but he is useless.

Wasn’t there a card that said “when one of your Forwards is put into the Break Zone”?

28-057R – Red XIII

I don’t know if you see it, but I do.

It’s March 13th. Or Marche/XIII.

It’s meant to be. Red XIII will be forming a party with Marche, and then Red XIII will be looking at the top 3 cards of your deck, adding a Final Fantasy VII Character to your hand each time. And, Marche will be dealing damage, and if it hit’s your opponent, you will also draw 2 cards.

Look at that, 3 new cards to start your Main Phase 2.

Yes, there’s a chance you’ll whiff, but we’re looking on the bright side.

25-035L – Aerith

Aerith comes in for 2CP, and when she does come in you’ll choose a Character and they will lose all of their abilities until your opponent gets rid of Aerith or she gets broken. Spoiler Kind of like how Sephiroth broke her. Oops, Spoiler alert.

When Aerith is put into the Break Zone, you can decide to remover her from the game, allowing you to draw a card.

It might even be another Aerith that you can play once more.

Consider Aerith as a Free Play!

And, we all like Free Plays.

25-036R – King

Here’s a way to get rid of the pesky Forward that is causing you trouble.

King comes in and returns one of your opponent’s Forwards to their hand.

If that’s not enough just make sure you have 5 Cadets on the field and that Forward will go to the bottom of their deck instead.

Either way, your opponent will need to spend resources to get that Forward back on to the field, where they could have used all that CP on something else.

If nothing else, King will slow down your opponent.

After that King is a king sized Meat Shield. Or an attacker. Whichever works best for you.

25-037H – Queen

Mark my words, Cadets will make a comeback.

At least I think so. And, why wouldn’t you? Especially when you have a card like Queen.
Once per turn you can activate 2 Class Zero Cadets Backups.

And then you will be able to use those 2 Backups to make use of Queen’s second ability which will allow you to choose 2 cards in your opponent’s Break Zone and remover them from the game.

This is a great card, especially if your opponent has a tendency of grabbing cards from the Break Zone.

25-038C – Goobbue

I don’t get it.

Why would Goobbue want to protect your Forwards, when it looks so hungry. I would have thought it would be something along the lines of “Goobbue, it’s your Forward and it doesn’t come back until Goobbue leaves the field.”

But, nope.

Goobbue has 2 abilities.

Goobbue will protect a Forward from your opponent’s abilities, and Goobbue will protect your Forward from your opponent’s Summons.

You can use one at a time, or both back to back.

25-039C – Cater EX

Do you like Free Plays?

Well Class Zero has one for you.

Cater.

Cater comes in for 2CP, and if you have another Class Zero Cadet on the field, Cater will draw you a card.

And, that’s it.

If you’re ready to swarm the board, Cater will get you there quicker than you normally would.

25-040H – Chocobo Chick (VII)

Get rid of a Wind Backup to play Chocobo Chick for 1CP.

And with that, you will deal 2000 damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards. You might break some, but odds are that you won’t.

But, this Chocobo Chick just hatched and is not about to stop, because it has one more trick up it’s sleeve.. er .. feathers.

After Chocobo Chick is done dealing damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards, you can play a 2 cost Forward from your hand.

Add this to your Chocobo deck. Or any other deck that has Wind Backups.

25-041C – Thief

I see a pattern here.

One sec, let me check.

Yes, how did I not realize this earlier?

Simple, Fire’s card was a Security Officer rather than a Job from Final Fantasy XI.

A Backup comes in and you get 2 choices. One is draw a card, and the other is to protect a Forward from high cost Forwards.

And, that’s a bout it.

25-042C – Zidane

This is a little bit of De Ja Vu here.

We’ve seen Zidane go into your opponent’s deck before, and he would grab a card and send it to the Break Zone. This time, though, if you do choose a card to discard, your opponent will draw a card.

It’s a decent play for 3CP.

You can also put Zidane in the Break Zone, and when you do, you can take 3 cards from your opponent’s Break Zone and remove them from the game.

This is good if your opponent has a tendency to bring back cards from the Break Zone.

25-043H – Cid Highwind

Two!?!

Cid comes in and searches for 2 Forwards?

How is that possible?

Not that I’m complaining, this is great. The only thing greater would be if this came with custom full art as well.

And, at 5 points of damage you can put Cid into the Break Zone and play a 5CP card from your hand?

You’ll be in the green, with Cid Highwind.

I’ll take 3, and 3 more just to be sure.

25-044C – Ceodore

The Crown Prince of Baron.

For 5CP you get a 9K Forward that has built in protection from your opponent’s abilities that Break a Forward, but does not deal damage.

If you don’t mind waiting a turn, you can Warp Ceodore in for a measly 2CP.

And, when Ceodore enters the field, you can grab a card with Warp from your Break Zone. That will bring the 5CP down to 3CP, or Ceodore will be a Free Play if you decide to Warp him in.

The good thing is that Ceodore can be played in any deck, as he has no synergy with any Final Fantasy IV Characters.

25-045C – Chocobo

A one cost Chocobo, that likes to party. And, this Chocobo will party with anybody.

As you set up your attack and party up, it’s highly likely that Chocobo will be broken.

And, that will be ok, because once Chocobo is put into the Break Zone after partying for a turn, you will be able to search for another Chocobo of 2CP or less and play it on the field.

I would pick Chocobo (6-050C), and then you would play another Chocobo from your hand onto the field.

It’s a Break One Get Two. I like that deal.

25-046C – Nine

I was going to start off on how I won’t use this card, because of the other Nine from Crystal Radiance, but we’re here to talk about this card.

Nine is taking care of the back line this time.

And, he can turn the tide in your favor when your Class Zero Cadets attack. For when one of them does, Nine can give that attacking Forward +1000 power and First Strike.

Now I’m going to have to take a closer look at the rest of the Cadets throughout all of the sets.

It’s not bad, but, you’ll need to find your front line.

25-047R – Barbariccia EX

Here we are with our second Archfiend. Barbariccia.

Barbariccia comes in to the field and grabs an Archfiend from your Break Zone, brining it back to your hand.

And, if Golbez is on the field Barbariccia deals 3000 damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards.

Now, let’s say you have Rinoa (6-041L) and you play her right after Barbariccia, that will be 6000 damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards. There’s a chance you’ll break at least one of them.

25-048R – The Mandragoras

This is a great little group of Monsters that can overwhelm your opponent.

Once per turn you can turn The Madragoras into a Forward, and have them attack. And when they do attack, they will most likely get blocked. And whenever they deal damage to a Forward, no matter how much power that Forward has, they will break it.

And, if the other Forward breaks the Mandagoras and sends them to the Break Zone, your opponent will choose a Forward that they control and they’ll put that Forward into the Break Zone as well.

Is it worth blocking?

You’ll have to find a way to block without breaking The Mandragoras.

That sounds like a band name.

25-049C – Yuffie

There must be something in the water these ninja’s drink.

Yuffie is ready to come out and wreak havoc from the get go. And she’s only a Common that costs 2CP.

And, let’s not forget Haste, cause whenever Yuffie attacks, she will receive a Shuriken Counter, and if she is blocked she will deal whoever blocks her 4000 damage for each Shuriken Counter that she has.

Yuffie might be small, but she is ready to dish it out with most of your opponent’s Forwards.

I’m going to have to take a look at a Ninja themes deck.

25-050R – Lucia

Did I read that right?

At the end of each of your turns activate all the SOLDIERs you control?

This is … I have no words.

SOLDIER wil dominate 2025 and beyond, simply by having Lucia.

And, as a side note you can dull 3 active SOLDIERs and and draw a card.

You can dull them n your Main Phase 2, and they’ll be activated right afterward, and you’ll have an extra card.

Shinra is set on FFTCG Domination.

25-051L – Rem

Is this the first Legend Rem that we’re getting?

Well, I can say Rem didn’t need to be a Legend, but I’ll take it. Rem will come in and searches for a Cadet and plays that Cadet straight to the field.

The only question you need to answer is, Which Cadet are you looking for?

And, when it’s all said and done, you can send Rem to the Break Zone, and you’ll activate all of your Class Zero Cadets.

Are there better Rems to play? I’d say it depends on what you’re trying to do.

Hidden Legends Breaking Limits

Get these singles and more at our TCG Player Store!

24-115R – Tenzen LB

The Samurai is back! This time with a Limit Break ready to go off whenever needed.

And, what a Limit Break.

Tenzen comes in and gives all of the Samurais +3000 power, Brave, and the ability to attack twice in the same turn.

And, we already know how Samurais run. Now just take that same deck, and play Tenzen whenever you can from the the Limit Break deck.

Your Samurais will take down your opponent so fast, that your opponent will mistake them for Ninjas.

After all is said and done, if your opponent still has some life, Tenzen sticks around with a 9K body.

24-116R – Snow LB

Snow comes in and searches for Lightning. Yes, he does search for Serah as well, but we all know that you’re going to grab Lightning.

And, that is all he does.

He’s not even a decent Meat Shield, coming in with only 5000 power.

What Kind of Sentinel is that?

If you need Lightning or Serah, sure. If not, then play Lumina.

24-117R – Zidane LB

4CP for a 5K body.

You’d think you’re overpaying, but this is a Limit Break card, and Zidane cannot be blocked by a 4 cost Forward or higher. Meaning that most of Zidane’s attacks can and will go through to damage your opponent.

Also, when Zidane enters the field, your opponent discards the top 2 cards of their deck, if they are of the same element, Zidane will draw you a card.

If you’re playing any kind of Wind deck, I would keep one of these in your Limit Break deck. It’s LB cost is very low, and we all know that you have filler LB cards in that deck just to pay for the cost of the cards you actually want to use.

24-118R – Selh’teus LB

Can you spell indestructable?

S-E-L-H-T-E-U-S

Selh’teus cannot be broken by your opponent’s Summons of abilities, whether they flat out break a Forward, or if they deal damage to a Forward.

The only way your opponent will be able to get rid of Selh’teus, is by blocking her with a Forward with more power than Selh’teus has. or by returning her to your hand, in which you can just play her again. I think.

I’m not sure if Selh’teus can be returned to your hand. Or what happens to it once it is targeted to be returned to your hand.

24-119R – Gilgamesh LB

Greg?

No, that’s not Greg. Maybe it is, we all know about Gilgamesh and his inter dimensional travel.

When Gilgamesh comes in you can either break a 1 cost Forward, or remove 2 cards from your opponent’s Break Zone.

What to choose?

I’d say it depends on what is in your opponent’s Break Zone, and if your opponent has a way of bringing cards back from the Break Zone.

If you have no use for any one of these abilities, you can always just use Gilgamesh to pay for your other Limit Break cards.

24-120R – Warrior of Light LB

This is a cheap card. For what Warrior of Light does, he is extremely cheap, and I would do great in any tribal deck. Or just about any deck running a bunch of Standard Units.

Warrior of Light will protect all of your other Forwards from most of your opponents abilities.

Your Forward will not be chosen, and if they receive damage that damage will be a big fat 0.

2CP + 1LB will grant you this protection for your other Forwards, and you’ll also have an 8K body.

24-121H – Iron Giant (SOPFFO) LB

How is this a Hero, when all these Rares that we’ve just seen are better?

That is my first thought on Iron Giant.

Iron Giant comes in and you get to either deal 5000 damage to a 2 cost Forward, or deal a dull Forward 7000 damage.

There’s nothing really exciting here.

24-122H – Magna Roader LB

Magana Roader, choose one ability or choose both. It all depends on how many Wind and/or Ice Characters that you have on the field.

If it’s 4 Ice Characters, your opponent shows you their hand, and you discard one of those cards.

4 Wind Characters, and Magna Roader comes in with Haste.

If you have 4 Ice and 4 Wind you get both of these.

My question is, who is playing Ice/Wind?

24-123H – Vajradhara Wu LB

Coming from Wutai, Vajradara Wu (or Wu for short) can and will break one of your opponent’s Forwards. and after Wu will stick around as an 8K body.

How will Wu do this?

It’s quite simple really.

Wu will break a damaged Forward, or Wu will deal damage to another Forward equal to it’s power.

And, that is pretty much it.

I’d call Vajradara Wu a Summon that sticks around afterwords.

24-124H – The Ur-Dragon King LB

High cost means High Power, and that is what The Ur-Dragon King brings to the table.

You’ll spend 9CP, 2LB and you’ll need 4 Earth Characters, and 4 Lightning Characters on the field in order to get The Ur-Dragon King’s full effect.

This 9K Meat Shield has 2 abilities that go off when it enters the field.

First one is that you can grab 2 Characters from your Break Zone, bringing Ur-Dragon’s cost down to 5CP. You’ll need 4 Earth Characters for this one.

And, second you can choose one of your opponent’s Forwards and The Ur-Dragon King will break it for you. You’ll need 4 Lightning Characters for this one.

If you have the cards on the field, and sufficient CP to pay for this, I would highly recommend it.

24-125H – Tonberry & Cactuar LB

I really wanted this card to be better.

It’s not bad, I was just hoping for Superhero powers.

What we get is a choice between 2 abilities. Who would have guessed?

First one, break a Forward of 3CP or less, which isn’t bad at all.

The second choice is, look at the top 2 cards of your deck and add one to your hand, while the other one goes to the bottom of your deck.

All we have to do is now is figure out which one is Batman and which one is Robin.

I’d say Tonberry is Batman.

24-126H – Ultima Weapon LB

Fire Water Burns!

Ultima Weapon is one of these Dual Element Limit Break Cards that you know will work.

I can actually just throw it in my Bomb deck, which is filled up with Fire/Water and have the perfect Limit Break to use whenever I feel like it.

Yes, just like most of the other Dual Element LBs, you’ll need 4 Characters of each element to get the full effect.

4 Fire Characters will allow Ultima Weapon to deal 9000 damage to a Forward. If you have 4 Water Characters, Ultima Weapon will break one of your opponent’s Forwards.

What’s not to like?

The cost? It’s only 6CP. Opus I Odin costs 7CP, and only breaks 1 Forward.

Hidden Legends of Wind

24-037R – Ashe EX

High cost Forward troubling you?

Ashe will take care of that for you, but not for long. You’ll be able to put that Forward on top of it’s owner’s deck. That means Ashe can also choose one of your Forwards, if you want to get the effect of it’s enter the field ability.

Which can be useful.

Now, if you put your opponent’s Forward on top of their deck, just make sure you deal a point of damage this turn. That way you’ll be able to send that Forward to the Damage Zone and then you won’t have to worry about it again.

This also comes off of an EX Burst.

You can also put Ashe into the Break Zone to activate a Forward while giving it +1K power.

24-038H – Valefor

Valefor makes a comeback, after being on hiatus since Opus I.

At 1CP it looks promising, let’s take a look.

Pay X, reveal the top 7 cards and play a Character of X or less.

I don’t know if I like it.

It’s almost a search and play to the field, but it is limited. And, that’s probably why it only costs 1CP.

It might work here or there, but either Opus I Valefor will work better for me.

24-039C – Vaan

Vaan and his trumpet.

At 5CP, Vaan can become a Activating Machine.

When Vaan enters the field Activate 2 Backups.

When Vaan attacks, Activate 2 Backups.

That’s 4CP right there. You paid 5CP.

One more attack and Vaan will be paying you to be on the field.

Vaan comes with a 9K body, and Aeroga Blade which deals a Forward 9000 damage.

I would play this card. I might even play it at Pre-Release. Midnight Pre-Release to be exact.

24-040C – Viera

Pay 2CP to activate 2 Backups later on.

Viera is more like a bank.

She’ll keep your CP and give them back to you when you need them later on.

In the mean time, Viera will produce 1CP per turn as any Backup will do.

And, when the moment is right, and you would like to use your Backup’s abilities you can use Viera to activate them.

I’d say a definite maybe.

24-041C – Onion Knight

Warp 1 for 1CP instead of paying 3CP! You’re already ahead.

Onion Knight is a recycling machine, ready to be removed and warped back in. This will be perfect if there is ever a threat to Onion Knight.

And at 3 points of Damage Onion Knight gains +1000 power.

That’s a 9K body, that can be recycled back into the game for 1CP.

Let me give this a try.

24-042R – Garuda (XVI)

5CP to activate all of your Backups.

Or, you can just Prime into Garuda with Benedikta. I haven’t seen Benedikta yet, but she’s coming up.

Activating your Backups already seems popular this set. Add in Bismarck, Lord of the Mists. And then you have a way of drawing cards, returning cards to your opponent’s hand. And when you have returned cards to their hand, you hit them with some Ice, and have them discard cards from their hand.

Ice/Wind for 2025

24-043C – Thief

Here’s another way to draw a card. Making Thief a 1 cost Backup

After that, once thief enters the field and if you already have 4 Wind Backups on the field, you can choose 1 of your Forwards, and it cannot be blocked for this turn.

Is it worth it? Having thief take up a spot in your deck for the chance that you might come across the perfect situation in order to use him?

I don’t know, probably better to leave this one out.

24-044H – Zidane

Zidane doing Zidane things.

He’s stealing cards from your opponent.

For 3 CP you can grab and Character from your opponent’s Break Zone. Yeah, you do remove it from the game, but you can cast it at any time you would cast it. Makes Sense?

Why is this one better than the other 2 Zidane’s that allow you to grab a card from your opponent?

Simple, you get to choose which one you grab.

And, at 5 points of damage, your Backups produce CP of any color.

I’ll be adding at least one to my deck that plays your deck.

24-045C – Jeume

Jeume, your Wind Warrior of the Crystal.

I was hoping for something better, after seeing Fire and Ice, but we have Jeume.

She’s not bad, she still allows here comrades abilities to go off when she enters the field.

She just doesn’t have any abilities that go off.

Nothing wrong with that, just because she can’t be chosen by your opponent’s abilities.

And, you have an 8K body.

24-046R – Leech Bat

I’m seeing a pattern here. I almost forgot about the Elemental Monsters that are all the same, but different.

Leech Bat hangs around, and when one of your Forwards attack, you can toss it into the Break Zone, making your opponent reveal there hand.

You’ll then pick the card you like, and toss that one to the Break Zone.

Your opponent will then draw a card.

That’s the only thing I don’t like about it.

After that, you’ll play Zidane, remove that card you selected from the game, and now it’s yours to cast whenever you’d like.

24-047R – Sophia (SOPFFO)

Sophia’s Choice.

Was that a band, or a movie?

But, you do need a Crystal in order to choose.

Sophia can either Break a high cost Forward, or she can break a monster.

The choice is yours.

Not Sophie’s. I mean Sophia’s

After that you have a 8K body that’ll hang out on the field.

24-048L – Tidus

“It’s Warping Time”

Coming in like a substitution right when you need him.

You can actually just play Tidus right away from the get go. At 0CP there is no reason not to.

Yes, Tidus has 5 Warp counters, but every time a Warp Counter is removed from a any card that is Warped, Tidus will have a Warp Counter removed from him, making his wait a little bit shorter.

When Tidus finally enters the field, all of your Forwards with Warp will have Haste, and they will not be able to be chosen by your opponent’s Summons.

All this for a grand total of 0CP, because you won’t be paying 5CP. You could, but what’s the fun in that?

24-049C – Nono

I’m just trying to figure out what Nono is doing here.

Nono isn’t bad at all, especially for a Common.

Nono enters the field and deals your opponent 2000 damage. Yes, that’s not a lot, but remember you’re playing Wind. And, what does wind do?

If you’ve been reading this, you already know Wind has been activating Backups this set, and drawing you cards.

And, if Nono is the 3rd card that you have cast this turn, Nono deals your opponent damage equal to his power. 3 points of Damage, gives Nono +2K power.

Add in Opus I Maria, and you’ll be dealing a Forward 8K damage.

All this for 2CP.

24-050C – Bartz

I read this once, and thought it was bad.

Reread it, and realized it’s not that bad.

the first time I understood that you had to have 2 cards removed from the game this turn, then I realized it doesn’t say this turn.

If you have 2 Cards removed from the game, Bartz can come in and Activate 2 Backups.

Like the Backups that you used to play Bartz.

Personally, I think there are better ways to Activate your Backups, but this still might be useful.

24-051R – Benedikta

With 3CP you get a Forward with 8000 power, First Strike and at 3 points of Damage Benedikta gains Haste.

That by itself would make it a decent Common.

Meat and Potatoes, nothing to fancy just a good body, or as I’d like to call it, a Meat Shield.

Benedikta can also Prime into Garuda (XVI) and will then Activate all of your Backups. And, return 2 Forwards to their Owner’s hand.

Benedikta will bring the cost of Garuda down by 1CP.

For a body, you can probably just play Benedikta by herself, usually a card with this much power costs 4CP.

24-052L – Belgemine

Automatic protection from Summons, and the more Summons you cast the better Belgemine is.

Cast 2 Summons, deal 2 Forwards 4000 damage each.

Cast 3 Summons, send 3 of your opponent’s Forwards to the bottom of their deck.

And, once you do that, there’s a good chance that you wiped your opponent’s front lines.

Now it’s time to go all out, and know that this was 1 Crystal Point that was very well spent.

Something tells me that YRP will be making a comeback. Add in that Opus I, Legend, Tidus, and I can see it now.

24-053H – Minwu

The Rebels are about to get a deck. Maybe not this set, but when they do Minwu and Opus XVII Maria will be a part of it. I haven’t really looked into it, but I can see the pieces slowly falling into place. IT just needs that one card the Rebels can all rally behind.

Minwu is a 4 cost Forward with 7000 power.

And, yes it is worth paying 4CP for Minwu, as you will grab a Final Fantasy II Character from the Break Zone and play it onto the field. Their cost just need to be equal or lower than the number of Backups you control, and it can’t be Minwu.

All of your FFII Forwards also cannot be chosen by your opponent’s abilities.

I’m going to be looking into a Final Fantasy II deck.

24-054C – Wing Wraith EX

Although Wing Wraith isn’t that powerful as a Summon, you will still be able to hit your opponent with a quick triple succession of 3000 damage to one of their Forwards.

At only 1CP and an EX Burst.

Wing Wraith deals 3000 damage and searches for another Wing Wraith.

Summon again fellow Summoners.

It’s worth a shot.
