Kardboard Outlook

08/25

It’s the start of the work week. Plenty to do today as we get ready for the World Championship Decks 2024 coming out this Friday. Well not really a lot to do, it’s not like it’s a regular release with all new cards we have to take a look at. But, still we have some things to do before hand.

Other than that, the day was spent finishing up the weekends orders.

08/26

I usually get a call on Tuesdays if there’s a release coming out that week. And, today is Tuesday, and I haven’t received a phone call yet.

That means that they’re either really busy, or they haven’t received them yet. I’ll give them a call tomorrow to figure out what’s going on.

Opus XII restock on TCG Player and eBay.

08/27

I have Opus XIII ready to go, and did that restock for it on both TCG Player and eBay.

Called my distributor today, and they don’t have a clue on when the World Championship Decks are coming in.

I still need some product, so I ordered plenty of Gunslinger in the Abyss. It’s selling like hot cakes, and these singles are fire.
Got to wait a day for those to come in.

Took the kids to soccer practice spent an hour there, just watching them go. All they need to do now is have fun.

08/28

Gunslinger in the Abyss came in today as it was scheduled. Now it’s time for us to crack open some packs, and list those singles. But, not until later, so we can upload it to YouTube.

Spent the afternoon, posting singles on eBay. And, some of them sold in minutes! That’s something that we always like to see.

Played some 99 Nights in the Forest with the little ones before bed time, and we finally made it to day 11. Only 88 more to go. Thing is you have to restart from the begining each time.

08/29

These boosters are half way gone already! Might have to order some more. Just have to wait for the money to clear on TCG Player and eBay and PayPal. eBay and PayPal are pretty quick, but sometimes TCG Player takes up to two weeks for the money to reach my bank account.

We’ll worry about restocking once we sell out, we still have a Master Case available, so if you’re on the lookout for some, we got you covered!

Yes, sometimes I’ll just insert an image that has nothing to do with what I’m writing.

Restock for Opus XIV – Crystal Abyss on TCG Player and eBay.

08/30

Time’s flying by, I can’t believe that GConnn will be tomorrow. I have to get everything set up for it. Luckily, most of it is already ready from other events. about 70% is Final Fantasy, trading cards and toys. The rest is .. well it depends on what I feel like bringing,

I’ll probably bring some Pokemon for it.

Other than that, I spent the whole day at the restaurant.

08/31

6AM, Wake up, time to go.

Had to be at the Orland Park Civic Center at 7AM to start setting up. I probably could have arrived later, but it’s always good to be ready before hand. You never know when the unexpected can happen. It’s not like you can expect it.

It was a good show, had about 275 people show up. Made some money, made some trades, and found an Final Fantasy VIII Siren GF Action Figure still sealed.

I picked that up before anyone else had a chance to.

Went home took a nap, and headed out for a little BBQ. It’s Labor Day weekend, we got to relax a little.

Tales from the Board

04/21

I’ve been looking for Toploaders all morning. They’re out there, they just have gone up quite a bit with these tariffs. We might start looking into alternatives for shipping out cheaper cards.

Also did a restock for Opus XII Crystal Awakening on TCG Player and eBay.

04/22

Purchased Japanese Pokemon EX cards for the vending machine at the restaurant. These are a hit with the kids. 50 cents well spent in their eyes. People have started coming in just to get Pokemon cards, they easily spend 5 to 10 dollars at a time.

Started working on decks for Final Fantasy IV.

04/23

Tried going to the Flea Market this morning. It was rained out. I was hoping to catch my guy there where I got all the Pokemon games last time. Guess we’ll have to wait another week.

Managed to find some Final Fantasy VII Anniversary Art Museum Vol.1 and Vol.2. And also some Hidden Legends. No News on a restock for Tears of the Planet and Legacy Collection.

04/24

It was time for sailing, Garage Sales. Saw a Craigslist post, and I got excited. 15 family garage sale, all at one address. Dropped the kids off at school and headed straight over there. I should have known better. When they hype up the garage sale, that’s when there is mostly junk. Junk for me that is. But, it’s ok I did manage to find a 5 pound scale that I can use at another garage sale.

But, the morning still isn’t over. Still have some time before I have to get to my “real” job. There’s a Rummage Sale going on at a VFW. I got there I didn’t expect much, but sometimes you do find some good stuff. As I’m walking around, I see a gentleman starting to grab a lot of books, I take a closer look, cause curiosity gets the better of me, and he’s grabbing old Stephen King hardcovers. That could have been me if I got there 5 minutes earlier, which I would have, If I didn’t go to Lemont.

But, that’s how it is sometimes. You win some lose some. I did walk away with a Walking Dead figure.

Finished the TCG Player/eBay restock for Opus XIV Crystal Abyss.

04/25

Sailing again. Today wasn’t much better than yesterday, but I did manage to find an auto of Lou Brock. I don’t even know who that is. But, apparently this card is worth around $20. It’s on eBay if you want it.

After that we restocked Opus XV Crystal Dominion. Also added some Yu-Gi-Oh singles as well.

04/26

Nothing of importance today.

04/27

It’s Flea Market Sunday. Didn’t find much for inventory other than New Super Mario Bros Wii, and The Rock Brawlin’ Buddy. But, I did manage to find some things for the office. A tablet and a Chrome Desktop. Still need to figure out if they work or not, but it’s a cheap gamble. can’t go wrong with $15 for both.

Had the little ones with me, we probably walked a few miles going up and down every lane, checking out what each vendor had to offer.

The highlight at the Flea Market for them is always the Lemonade. You buy the cup, and every time you go back, you get to refill it for 3 bucks.

Shop for singles and more at our TCG Player Store!

Enter the Zero World

This one should be interesting, but we have an idea. Maybe it’ll work, maybe it won’t. There’s only one way to find out.
First things first we need to bring out Necron, and base the whole deck around the fact that Necron can deal a point of Damage at the end of each of your turns, as long as there are at least 3 Dark Characters on the field.

Next we need a way to grab Necron. Ysayle (6-022R) and Laguna (9-037C) are both great cards that allow you to search for Necron when they enter the field.

Let’s get to some Dark Cards, to make use of Necron’s ability. Spiritus is at the top of the list, as we’re actually going to grab 2 different Spiritus. Spiritus (6-129H) and Spiritus (13-104L). 3 copies of each as they both allow you to search for a Dark Forward.

The Emperor (1-185H) because he is able to recycle himself, if he gets broken. That way you’ll still have the same amount of Dark Characters on the field, as he comes back into play dull.

Twintania (16-130H) and Vinera Fennes (17-129H) both are cheap Dark Forwards. And, since most of the cards we’re playing are high cost we do need a couple of the cheaper ones to keep us balanced.

We’re going to go right ahead and add Garland (IX) (8-026L), cause it still is a great card. And, it needs to be used more often. Plus dulling and Freezing a card every turn is great.

We need more Backups.

Devout (1-048C), Always a decent card to have, as you can grab a Forward from the Break Zone and play it to the field. You can’t grab Necron, but you can grab plenty of Dark Forwards that might already be in your Break Zone.

Rinoa (2-048R), we’ll grab her, to search for Laguna, to search for Necron.

Cid (WOFF) (4-034R), This is a great choice for the Character that turns into a Dark Character. As Cid (WoFF) cannot be broken. And, it’s only 2CP.

Let’s add Chocobo Eater (19-027R) and Flan (19-031C) cause this deck looks like it can use a couple of Monsters. Flan pretty much regenerates, and Chocobo Eater can remove a Forward.

Mateus, the Corrupt (5-044C) that way you can Attack with a Dark Forward, without worrying about it being blocked, and possibly sent to the Break Zone.

Zalera (9-025H) to break a Dull Forward, and Shiva (19-022R) just because it is a Free Summon!

Forwards

3x – Spiritus (13-104L)
3x – (Twintania (16-130H)
3x – Vinera Fennes ((17-129H)
3x – Garland (IX)(8-026L)
3x – The Emperor (1-185H)
3x – Laguna (9-037C)
3x – Necron (12-021R)

Backups

3x – Cid (WOFF) (4-034R)
3x – Rinoa (2-048R)
3x – Devout (1-048C)
3x – Ysayle – (6-022R)
3x – Spiritus – (6-129H)

Summons

3x – Mateus, the Corrupt (5-044C)
3x – Zalera (9-025H)
2x – Shiva (19-022R)

Monsters

3x – Chocobo Eater (19-027R)
3x – Flan (19-031C)

Plan of attack is to bring out Necron, and get your 3 Dark Characters on the field. Just Find a way to keep those Dark Characters on the field, and you’ll slowly watch your opponent’s Damage rack up until he gets 7 points of Damage.

It’s a waiting game.

Job Title : Necron

Necron, the Necron

5CP – Ice
Forward
Necron
Rare

“You can play 2 or more Dark Characters onto the field.

When Necron enters the field, choose 1 Character other than Necron you control. Its Element becomes Dark. (This effect does not end at the end of the turn.)

At the end of each of your turns, if you control 3 or more Dark Characters, Necron deals your opponent 1 point of damage.”
Now this is an unusual card, in that Necron can deal Damage to your opponent simply by doing nothing. Just load up on Dark Characters and sit it out. Just make sure you have at least 3 Dark Characters on the field at the end of each of your turns, and you’ll be dealing a point of Damage to your opponent.

Even though Necron is pretty much a standalone Character, with no alliances, Necron does side with the Dark, as all he does is want to destroy the Crystal.

Best plan would be to side Necron with all the Dark cards that you can. Hey, you might finally make that All Dark, … well mostly Dark Deck that you always wanted.

Krile – Card Analysis

Plenty of Kriles to choose from. Well not that many, but we do have 4 different ones.

Krile (3-078H)

2CP/6000
Earth
Forward
Mystic Knight
Hero

“Spellblade: Fira (S)(F): Deal 6000 damage to all the Forwards opponent controls.

Spellblade: Thundara (S)(L): Choose up to 2 damaged Forwards. Break them.”

With 6000 power and 2 abilities, this Krile wouldn’t be more than a Rare these days. Sure you can use both abilities in one turn, if you have the extra Kriles on hand to break a couple of your opponents Forwards.

If you have a hand full of Kriles, you can wipe out all of your opponents Forwards.

I mean, it could work.

Krile (7-068H)

4CP/8000
Earth
Forward
Warrior of Light
Hero

“The cost required to cast your Summons can be paid with CP of any Element.

When you cast a Summon, choose 1 Forward. It gains +1000 power until the end of the turn.

Discard 1 Summon: Until the end of the turn, Krile cannot be chosen by your opponent’s abilities.”

This Krile is great for a Summon based Earth deck. Allowing you to pay for all of your Summons with CP of any element. And, when you do cast a Summon, Krile gives a Forward +1000 power.

Krile also gains protection from your opponents abilities, when you discard a Summon.

Krile (12-061L)

2CP/5000
Earth
Forward
Warrior of Light
Legend

“When Krile enters the field, choose 1 Summon from either player’s Break Zone. You can cast it as though you owned it this turn. If you cast it, remove that Summon from the game after use instead of putting it in the Break Zone.

(1)(D): Choose 1 Summon from either player’s Break Zone. You can cast it as though you owned it this turn. If you cast it, remove that Summon from the game after use instead of putting it in the Break Zone.”

“Does your opponent have that Summon that you forgot to put in your deck, today? Well you can now cast it at will, if your opponent has placed said Summon n the Break Zone! Simply, Play Krile onto the field and grab that Summon to play it right away.

If Krile is already on the field, no worries, just pay the small cost of 1CP if Krile is active, and cast away that Summon like no tomorrow.”

That’s pretty much it. Summon Heavy, on both sides.

Krile EX (18-055R)

4CP
Earth
Backup
Warrior of Light
Rare

EX BURST When Krile enters the field, select 1 of the 2 following actions.

“Choose 1 Summon in your Break Zone. Add it to your hand.”

“Choose 1 Category V Forward in your Break Zone. Add it to your hand.”

I just wrote about this a couple of sets back, let’s see what it was.

“Just lost a card you need to the Break Zone?

Have no fear, Krile here will grab that card back. But, only if it’s a Summon or a Category V Forward.

If you’re playing Krile you’re probably already playing a FFV themed deck for the most part.

I had her in my Pre-Release event and did use her quite a bit.”

Well there you have it. I shall stand behind what I said when Resurgence of Power was first released.

Out of the 4 cards, there are 2 that I like. And, I must say the Legend isn’t one of them. I’m sure plenty of people will disagree with that.
