Hokuten – Version 1.02

We’re going to do this a tiny bit different. We already know we’re not building and strong decks. We’re just making decks to have fun with. Zalbaag’s deck will be no different. In fact we’re going to look straight into Final Fantasy Tactics and see what we can come up with. Let’s take a look into the battles.

But, first.

We can’t have a Hokuten Deck without the Lord Commander himself, so we are throwing in 3 copies.

First battle Zalbaag commands Argath (or Algus) to kill Tietra, so we need Argath in. 3 copies because Argath makes your opponent discard a card when he enters the field.

Along with a couple Knights and Black Mages, although the Tactics Knights aren’t great at all. Just bodies that have no abilities. And the Black Mages, are just a little better than the Knights. Maybe we’ll just lave them out.

The next battle Zalbaag is in he is your ally, So, we’ll be adding in Ramza. Two of them to be exact Ramza (3-119L) just for the fact that he gains +1000 power for every Final Fantasy Tactics Forward that you control, and Ramza (7-118L), because he can become a cheap and powerful Forward if you have a lot of Forwards on the field before you play him. And, If this Ramza has over 10,000 power, every time he attacks, you can break one of your opponents Forwards, as long as it is 3CP or less.

Next battle Zalbaag is a part of the Undead. and fights against you with Archaeodaemon and Ultima Demon and we have none of those Monsters as cards yet. I thought this was going to be a lot more interesting than this.

Let’s see what else we can add? How about Dycedarg (4-105R), he is Zalbaag’s brother and do work together. Up until a certain point, I’ll leave that at that. Plus when he enters the Break Zone, he Dycedarg deals 7000 damage to one of your opponents active Forwards.

Next let’s find a way to search for Zalbaag. Aldo (10-086C) allows you to search for a Lightning Forward, and Duke Goltana (1-134R) allows you to search for a Knight. And, since Ramza and Dycedarg are both Knights, I think we finally have a plan for this deck.

Knights it is.

So, we need Ovelia (1-156C) to give all of our knights +1000 power. We’ll also add in Class Sixth Moogle (9-097C) to help us pay for Water. Now that we have water on hand, We shall add Beatrix (12-103H) to lower the cost of our Knights.

Agrias, we need Agrias (7-106L). She costs 6CP but with Beatrix it’ll be 4CP and if you find a 3CP Character it’ll be 1CP.

We’re going to add Princess Sarah (11-128H) just so we can play Argath. We’d take Argath out, but he plays a part in Zalbaag’s story.

That means we have Ice, let’s add some more Ice. Lasswell (16-042R) to dull and Freeze, and have your opponent discard cards. Charlotte (13-023R) cause she is a great Meat Shield.

As for Summons, we’ll take Ixion (17-090R), Leviathan (2-140C) and Shiva (19-022R)

And, there you have it Hokuten V1.02

Forwards

3x – Argath (1-033C)
3x – Beatrix (12-103H)
3x – Charlotte (13-023R)
3x – Lasswell (16-042R)
3x – Zalbaag (1-136C)
3x – Ramza (3-119L)
3x – Dycedarg (4-105R)
3x – Ramza (5-118L)
3x – Agrias (7-106L)

Backups

3x – Princess Sarah (11-128H)
3x – Ovelia (1-156C)
3x – Class Sixth Moogle (9-097C)
3x – Duke Goltanna (1-134R)
3x – Aldo (10-086C)

Summons

3x – Leviathan (2-140C)
3x – Ixion (17-090R)
2x – Shiva (19-022R)

This one does seem a little forced, compared to other deck ideas we have done.

When You Wish Upon Akstar

Here we are, our new weekly post that will focus on a particular card. And, we’ll start off with the Fire Legend himself. Akstar (13-002L). Technically he’s not “The” Fire Legend, but he is a Fire Legend.

Let’s take a look.

4CP – Fire
Forward
Job : Mercenary
8000 Power
Legend

4CP/8K not bad, just your average 4 cost Forward.

When Akstar enters the field, choose 1 card with EX Burst in your Damage Zone. You may trigger its EX Burst effect. (This effect is put on the stack.)

Damage 3 ― When Akstar enters the field, you may search for 1 Category FFBE Character other than Card Name Akstar and add it to your hand.

Judging by the text, we need EX Bursts, and Brave Exvius Characters.

For the FFBE we have Rain (13-017H). Physalis (13-028L), Lasswell (13-105R), and Charlotte (13-023R). All of them Forwards, none with an EX Burst. All these characters will be searchable by Akstar once you have received 3 points of Damage.

Rain’s cost is reduced by one CP for each Fire Backup you have on the field. So, it’s only common sense to play only Fire Backups. Larkeicus (13-014R), if only to remove that pesky Forward that’s troubling you. Vivi, a cheap backup with an EX Burst that deals 5K Damage to one of your opponents Forwards. Lebreau (1-030R), because every Mono-Fire deck needs her. Even though we’re splashing a little bit of Ice. Mootie (11-012C), because we have Bahamut (13-012R) and it will help pay for the cost of Bahamut. Class Second Moogle (10-016C), to help us pay for our Ice Forwards, as Class Second Moogle can produce Ice CP. And Lilty (11-020C), to search for an Ice card in our deck.

Now once Rain enters the field or attacks, he’ll be dealing up to 5K Damage to one of your opponents Forwards. You’ll either Break a Forward, or Damage them enough that they won’t block. And if they do they’ll probably just get sent to the Break Zone anyway.

Lasswell, Rain’s buddy, compliments Rain. Because every time Rain attacks Lasswell deals 3K damage to a forward. Not just Rain though, anytime any Fire or Ice Forward attacks. That means if you have 5 Forwards attacking, all of them will allow Lasswell to deal Damage 5 times.

Physalis. Depending on your opponents hand, determines just how good Physalis will be. She might be able to close out some matches for you, as she’ll be able to Dull and Freeze a Forward every time she attacks. You won’t be able to use her ability unless you Discard an Ice card to pay for the 2 Ice CP you need. This might be something we’ll need to fix in this deck.

Charlotte, the meat shield. She’ll be taking most of the Damage from Summons and Abilities, that way Rain, Physalis and Lasswell, will mostly remain protected long enough for them to deal crucial Damage.

The rest of the Forwards we have are : Gadot (1-007R) just to play an extra 2CP Fire Forward from you hand at no extra cost. Morrow (11-013R) and Firion (7-132S) are both the cards you will play. Morrow well because he gets stronger the more Damage you take, and can attack twice at 6 points of Damage. And, Firion because of the EX Burst. You’ll mostly just throw him in to get his ability damage and then just use him as a blocker.

Titania (13-132S), although you’ll have to have a Forward, Backup, Summon and a Monster in your Break Zone to be able to play Titania, Titania will come in Dell and Freeze to Characters and allow your other Forwards to go for the kill.

Fang ( 1-020R), she’s in her to help reduce the cost of Bahamut. that way we’ll be able to play Bahamut for a total cost of 0CP. Now, you’ll say that it can’t become 0. No worries. Mootie will pay 1CP to help cast Bahamut and will activate once Bahamut is cast. And that will give your opponents Forward 8K Damage, which might break it. If not Fang is still on the field to attack for 7K.

Lani (12-018H), I just like this card, and being able to possibly take your opponents top card and cast it as your own is always a plus.

Amaterasu (12-002H), no need to explain this one.

Lava Spider (8-022R), and Grenade (5-008R) are both cards need to be able to play Titania, but they both help as Lava Spider gives your Attacking Forwards +3K, and Grenade will be able to Break a Forward when they enter the field as long as their Power is less than 8K.

Here’s the run down.

Forwards

Gadot (1-007R) x3
Firion (7-132S) x2
Morrow (11-013R) x3
Charlotte (13-023R) x3
Titania (13-132S) x1
Fang (1-020R) x3
Lani (12-018H) x2
Akstar (13-002L) x3
Physalis (13-028L) x3
Lasswell (13-105R) x3
Rain (13-017H) x3

Backups

Larkeicus (13-014R) x2
Vivi (3-018C) x1
Class Second Moogle (10-016C) x3
Lebreau (1-030R) x3
Mootie (11-012C) x2
Lilty (11-020C) x3

Summons

Amaterasu (12-002H) x3
Bahamut (13-012R) x2

Monsters

Lava Spider (8-022R) x1
Grenade (5-008R) x1

You’ll pretty much want to get yourself to 3 points of Damage, and then start your Brave Exvius onslaught. Rain and Physalis will be your main attackers, and you’ll want to keep them on the field for as long as you can.

Any improvements to this Deck? Let us know in the comments.

Opus XIII – Ice Review

13-018C – Quistis

Most of the time Quistis will cost only 1 CP, based on what you draw. You’ll most likely draw an ice card. Espeially if your playing Mono-Ice. Do Multi-Element count as Ice? If ice is one of the elements. I would say know, but I’ll need to find out for sure. And at 5 Damage, you’ll be able to bring Rinoa (6-041L) out of the Break Zone.

13-019C – Coeurl

Basic Ice Monster. Dull or Freeze an opponent. Turns into 7K Forward.

13-020C – Kurasame

Dull for 1K boost, to a Type-0 Forward. Bulk up for a block or to finish off your opponents Blocker. You can even buff up Cinque (13-007R), but we already talked about her.

13-021R – Shiva EX

I forgot Shiva looked like this in Type-0, maybe I need to replay it.
Dull and Freeze 2 Forwards, sign me up. Especially since this can come off an EX. I’ll be playing 3 of these in every Ice Deck. Now, I just need to find a way to play Shiva for free.

13-022H – Cid Randell

Cid casts Silence, and breaks your opponents advantage because their auto-abilities will not trigger. So, no searching for a card, no grabbing a card from the Break Zone, no playing a card from your hand, no dulling, no freezing, no …. you get the point. Now which Remedi is Cid a better pair with.

13-023R – Charlotte

Once you get to 3 Damage, Charlotte becomes a 9K blocker. Just having her on the field might cause your opponent to rethink if the wants to attack. They might just find a way to get rid of her, but just might attack anyway.

13-024R – Squall

Quickly trip up your opponents plans with Squall here. They got one card in their hand, they were hoping to use on the next turn once their CP replenished. Nope, not today. But, then it might have been just a card to be used for CP.

13-025C – Onion Knight (FFT)

Please look at Onion Knight (FFT) (13-010C), if not then I can just Copy, Paste

“Have three of these tucked away at the end of the game and you’ll have 3 Forwards with 9k and Haste. Go in for a quick strike and you might make it out alive. If not you’ll have a couple of meat shields to take some Damage. ”

13-026C – Tellah EX

Use Ark (8-135H) to help pay for Tellah, Grab Ark back from the Break Zone. Next turn Dull Tellah, Discard Ark, put Tellah in the Break Zone. Yell “You, Spoony Bard!!!” Deal 30K Damage to one Forward.

13-027C – Time Mage

Just like Black Mage (13-005C). This card will work if you splash a single Fire or Water card. Because then you’ll now exactly what you’ll end up with. Other than that. NEXT.

13-028L – Physalis

Physalis will keep on generating an advantage for you. Half the time you’ll be able to draw 1 card. Give her Haste when she enters and that’s 2 Cards if you decide to attack. And every time you attack you’ll be drawing a card, unless you decide to Dull and Freeze a Character instead. Akstar (13-002L) can search for her.

And, her ability, You’ll pretty much Break a Forward, make your opponent discard a card, and then you can attack and draw a card. I must say I like this card.

13-029C – Counterfeit Wraith

If you’re playing Manikins, you’ll probably already have 3 Job Manikins on the field. Add to it the fact that you can play 3 of these, your opponent may discard his whole hand. In which case enter Physalis.

13-030C – Yuke

If all goes well, Yuke, in certain circumstances can be a great card. But, how many times will you be able to play it when you need it. That and the Wind and Water CP you’ll need might not make it playable when you need it.

13-031R – Laguna

Looks like a small upgrade to Laguna (1-059R). You’ll also need Squall on the field to get the full effect. Almost plays like Genesis (3-033L) with his on entry ability.

13-032H – Rinoa

Is it possible to play Rinoa for free? It does not say it cannot become 0. But, even of you discard a card to play Rinoa, you’ll still get the 2CP back. You might even come up Positive from what you started with. +1 at least.

Damage is at 5? Attack and dull all the Characters. Easy Win?

13-033R – Levnato

Most of the time you’ll have a Summon in your hand. 3CP/8K is a pretty decent cost, since most 8K bodies are a 4 cost.

And if you have 2 Summons, Break a dull Forward.

13-034H – Remedi

Your opponent will not be able to grab extra cards, due to Remedi’s ability. And when they search, they discard, and you get to search for Cid Randell.
