When You Wish Upon Akstar

Here we are, our new weekly post that will focus on a particular card. And, we’ll start off with the Fire Legend himself. Akstar (13-002L). Technically he’s not “The” Fire Legend, but he is a Fire Legend.

Let’s take a look.

4CP – Fire
Forward
Job : Mercenary
8000 Power
Legend

4CP/8K not bad, just your average 4 cost Forward.

When Akstar enters the field, choose 1 card with EX Burst in your Damage Zone. You may trigger its EX Burst effect. (This effect is put on the stack.)

Damage 3 ― When Akstar enters the field, you may search for 1 Category FFBE Character other than Card Name Akstar and add it to your hand.

Judging by the text, we need EX Bursts, and Brave Exvius Characters.

For the FFBE we have Rain (13-017H). Physalis (13-028L), Lasswell (13-105R), and Charlotte (13-023R). All of them Forwards, none with an EX Burst. All these characters will be searchable by Akstar once you have received 3 points of Damage.

Rain’s cost is reduced by one CP for each Fire Backup you have on the field. So, it’s only common sense to play only Fire Backups. Larkeicus (13-014R), if only to remove that pesky Forward that’s troubling you. Vivi, a cheap backup with an EX Burst that deals 5K Damage to one of your opponents Forwards. Lebreau (1-030R), because every Mono-Fire deck needs her. Even though we’re splashing a little bit of Ice. Mootie (11-012C), because we have Bahamut (13-012R) and it will help pay for the cost of Bahamut. Class Second Moogle (10-016C), to help us pay for our Ice Forwards, as Class Second Moogle can produce Ice CP. And Lilty (11-020C), to search for an Ice card in our deck.

Now once Rain enters the field or attacks, he’ll be dealing up to 5K Damage to one of your opponents Forwards. You’ll either Break a Forward, or Damage them enough that they won’t block. And if they do they’ll probably just get sent to the Break Zone anyway.

Lasswell, Rain’s buddy, compliments Rain. Because every time Rain attacks Lasswell deals 3K damage to a forward. Not just Rain though, anytime any Fire or Ice Forward attacks. That means if you have 5 Forwards attacking, all of them will allow Lasswell to deal Damage 5 times.

Physalis. Depending on your opponents hand, determines just how good Physalis will be. She might be able to close out some matches for you, as she’ll be able to Dull and Freeze a Forward every time she attacks. You won’t be able to use her ability unless you Discard an Ice card to pay for the 2 Ice CP you need. This might be something we’ll need to fix in this deck.

Charlotte, the meat shield. She’ll be taking most of the Damage from Summons and Abilities, that way Rain, Physalis and Lasswell, will mostly remain protected long enough for them to deal crucial Damage.

The rest of the Forwards we have are : Gadot (1-007R) just to play an extra 2CP Fire Forward from you hand at no extra cost. Morrow (11-013R) and Firion (7-132S) are both the cards you will play. Morrow well because he gets stronger the more Damage you take, and can attack twice at 6 points of Damage. And, Firion because of the EX Burst. You’ll mostly just throw him in to get his ability damage and then just use him as a blocker.

Titania (13-132S), although you’ll have to have a Forward, Backup, Summon and a Monster in your Break Zone to be able to play Titania, Titania will come in Dell and Freeze to Characters and allow your other Forwards to go for the kill.

Fang ( 1-020R), she’s in her to help reduce the cost of Bahamut. that way we’ll be able to play Bahamut for a total cost of 0CP. Now, you’ll say that it can’t become 0. No worries. Mootie will pay 1CP to help cast Bahamut and will activate once Bahamut is cast. And that will give your opponents Forward 8K Damage, which might break it. If not Fang is still on the field to attack for 7K.

Lani (12-018H), I just like this card, and being able to possibly take your opponents top card and cast it as your own is always a plus.

Amaterasu (12-002H), no need to explain this one.

Lava Spider (8-022R), and Grenade (5-008R) are both cards need to be able to play Titania, but they both help as Lava Spider gives your Attacking Forwards +3K, and Grenade will be able to Break a Forward when they enter the field as long as their Power is less than 8K.

Here’s the run down.

Forwards

Gadot (1-007R) x3
Firion (7-132S) x2
Morrow (11-013R) x3
Charlotte (13-023R) x3
Titania (13-132S) x1
Fang (1-020R) x3
Lani (12-018H) x2
Akstar (13-002L) x3
Physalis (13-028L) x3
Lasswell (13-105R) x3
Rain (13-017H) x3

Backups

Larkeicus (13-014R) x2
Vivi (3-018C) x1
Class Second Moogle (10-016C) x3
Lebreau (1-030R) x3
Mootie (11-012C) x2
Lilty (11-020C) x3

Summons

Amaterasu (12-002H) x3
Bahamut (13-012R) x2

Monsters

Lava Spider (8-022R) x1
Grenade (5-008R) x1

You’ll pretty much want to get yourself to 3 points of Damage, and then start your Brave Exvius onslaught. Rain and Physalis will be your main attackers, and you’ll want to keep them on the field for as long as you can.

Any improvements to this Deck? Let us know in the comments.

Opus XIII – Water Review

13-086R – Agrias EX

This card was made to be played with Ovelia (13-090L). Of course, you can play any other Princess for the EX Burst, but Ovelia is the one that you’ll be able to keep bringing Agrias back from the Break Zone

13-087C – Delusory Knight

Just your regular 4CP/8K that also searches for a Manikin of a different element.

13-088H – Elle

Discard 2 cards when you attack to get a free shot? We like Cheap … I mean free shots at Damage. Unless your opponent can find a way to get rid of Elle, you’ll have the match in 7 turns or less.

Considering you have enough cards not to run out.

13-089C – Oilboyle

Draw 1/Discard 1 all for 1CP. Becomes a Forward like the other Monsters from the other elements.

13-090L – Ovelia

How many Tactics forwards are there that are good? Agrias (13-086R), which will let you draw a card everytime she comes in? Marach (13-080C), to Ping 4K damage when he comes back in? Ramza (13-121R) to break 2 forwards your opponent controls and 2 more to their hand? Orlandeau (4-101H) to break a Damaged Forward? Delita (13-111C), to Break Marach and have him come back in for another 4K?

Wait a second. You can Play Marach, Ping for 4K. Use Aegis on Marach. Have him attack, hopefully he gets blocked and Breaks. And then he comes back to the field, dull and deals another 4K to your opponent. It might just work. If it doesn’t play Delita and break Marach.

13-091H – Cagnazzo

It should be pretty easy to get 3 Water Counters on Cagnazzo. 7 might be a little difficult, considering the 4K body. But, if he can stick around long enough, you’ll be able to get a board wipe.

13-092C – Sage

Flip cards until either an Earth or a Lightning card pops up. End of story.

13-093H – Sara

Searching for Royalty. Check

Searching for Ovelia. Check

Add to hand. Check

Hopefully you’re playing a Tactics Deck. No? Not to worry there’s plenty of cards Sara can search for.

13-094C – Simon

Here’s another card you’ll like to have on hand. Can bring back any Tactics character back from the Break Zone.

13-095C – Tonogiri

Doesn’t have to be your opponents Forward. You can return one of your own cards to replay it for it’s on entry ability.

13-096R – Nichol

+1K to all Multi-Element Forwards, plus you get to draw a card when one enters. Sign me up.

13-097C – Viking

Why would it say of cost 3 or less, if the most expensive card is 3CP. Must mean that there will be more Viking support coming. We shall finally build a deck to rival Chocobos.

But enough of that. If you’re playing all 4 Vikings 3 copies of each. That’s 12 cards. 12 divided by 50 means that you have a 25% chance for any of those cards to be a Viking, that you’ll play on the field.

13-098R – Fina

Easy way to return a pesky Forward to your opponents hand.

13-099C – Yuke

Always a good idea to be able to grab a Character from your Break Zone. Wether you’re only playing one copy of a certain card. Or you ran out of cards to cast that Special ability.

This one will see some play. If I find a deck to put it in.

13-100R – Leviathan EX

Save a Forward with this Summon. Reduce Damage by 5000. And If you’re at 5 Damage you can Protect all your Forwards from Summons and Abilities. This one will save you at least a couple of times. Especially if you’re playing against Dadaluma and Cactuars. Oh, wait Dadaluma is banned.

13-101R – Luka

+1K to all Brave Exvius Forwards. These are cards that I always like to play, give your Forwards a little boost.

13-102C – Refia

Need to Activate a Forward? Just use this ability. Only costs 1CP and Dull this Backup. Would have been better if it was any Forward, but this will work.

Opus XIII – Lightning Review

13-069C – Red Mage

Maybe I’m wrong about these cards. Might just be a good way to draw a card.

13-070C – Delusory Warlock

Here’s another card that will drop Lightning Exdeath’s CP by 1. And you also get to search for a Manikin. Double win.

13-071R/2-101H – Exdeath

And this whole time I thought this was a new card. I just realized it’s a reprint. No wonder it’s only a rare. They gave this card the treatment Chaos, Walker of the Wheel (3-071H) got. It’s still a good card, and now everyone has a better chance of grabbing this card in a pack to play Manikins.

Exdeath gives all Manikins +1K, and every Manikin gives ExDeath +1K. So, the more Manikins you have, the stronger ExDeath becomes.

The Main Attraction of your Manikin Deck.

13-072R – Odin EX

Coming off of an EX Burst this card is great, and even better after you’ve taken 5 points of Damage as the cost is only 2CP.

I think the 7CP Odin is slight better as you can Break any Forward. Even if the cost is a little higher. Or, you can just play both.

13-073H – Kain

Kain is a great card if you can play him straight from the Break Zone. Cause once he gets broken, he’ll be under your opponents control.

Thancred (12-124L) and Y’shtola (13-134S) can play him straight out of the Break Zone.

13-074C – Clavat

Not bad, breaking a Monster that is also a forward, or returning it to it’s owner’s hand. You can even use it on yourself

Want to return that Chocobo (6-050C) to your hand, to play it and play another Chocobo onto the field? Well, you can.

13-075R – Sakura

4CP to Break a 4CP Forward. Sounds like an even trade.

13-076R – Jake

Don’t see this one getting play when you can play Jake (8-097H).

13-077C – Zemus

At 3 points of Damage this card pays for itself. As you get to grab a Forward and a Backup. Might see some play late game, if you need to grab a couple of cards back.

13-078C – Propagator

Cheap Monster that might break a Forward, but that is highly unlikely. Becomes a Forward with 7k at Damage 3, which might be a reason to play.

13-079L – Behemoth K

Now this Behemoth is a Beast with a capitol B. Attack, Deals Damage, Gains 3K. Only way to get rid of him is with a Summon. Or Shantotto (1-107L). But, you can always just play him again.

Scary Good. I’ll take 3 please.

13-080C – Marach

Just entering the field and Pinging all your opponents Forwards except one that they choose for 4000 Damage is a good reason to play this card. Add in Rapha (13-082C) for an extra 1K every time Marach deals Damage.

13-081H – Lightning

Beautiful artwork. If nothing else that by itself is a reason to play this card. That and the fact that you can either remove a couple of Forwards your opponent controls, or a couple from your Break Zone, until Lightning leaves the field.

Either way you’ll benefit as your opponent won’t be able to play their cards, and you’ll have a couple of extra Forwards in your hand when Lightning leaves the field.

13-082C – Rapha

Combined with Marach (13-080C), these two will make a killer combo. Enter Marach, Deal 5000 Damage to all Forwards except 1. And then Dull Rapha and deal 4000 Damage for a total of 9000 Damage.

Most of the time your opponent will only have one Forward left on the field.

13-083H – Lid

Lid is a mix between Viking (4-133C) and Fat Chocobo (9-051R) in that she can add a Multi-Element card on entry when she leaves the field. Now, it won’t always work as you can only choose the top four cards of your deck.

Other than that she’s a 7K forward.

13-084C – Dragoon

If you’re playing Dragoons, this is a 2CP/8K Forward with Haste. If not, don’t bother.

13-085R – Lumina

3CP to search for a XIII forward. Nothing exciting, but you would think that they would have done something better for Lumina.

Opus XIII – Earth Review

13-052C – Abyss Worm

For it’s cost this is a great card. Giving a Forward +3K and Brave, is good enough for this 1 cost. But the fact that it turns into a Forward at 3 Damage, makes it even better.

13-053R – Alexander EX

Hmm, I don’t know if I would use this card much, but keeping one in a deck for the rare chance that it’ll pop out after you’ve taken 5 points of Damage might be worth it.

13-054C – Lady of Antiquity

Reducing Exdeath’s (13-071R) CP doesn’t seem like a big deal. You still have to pay 5CP, but the second ability will let you play a 6 color Manikin Deck, in which the aforementioned ExDeath will be your main attraction.

13-055C – Ingus

+1k and Brave to a Standard Unit or Warrior of Light. Alexander EX (13-053R) seems a little better as you can choose any character. But, Ingus can use his ability once per turn.

13-056R – Vanille

I’m actually surprised this card is only a Rare.

This card will pay for itself, if your opponent does not get rid of it soon enough. There are plenty of cards you can play every other turn unless your opponent finds a way to Break Vanille. All these High cost cards will be Free plays from Your Break Zone.

Vanille Deck in progress. Just Vanille and High cost forwards.

13-057H – Graff

A constant +2K during the Attack phase. Main Phase the Forwards will still have their regular power.

13-058C – Sherlotta

Perfect to use in any 2 color deck. Even three. Or as many as you’d like. Tyro (11-072R) does this better, but Sherlotta is only a 2 cost.

13-059H – Scarmiglione

Trying to Break a Forward, well have I got a card for you. Scarmiglione here will double the damage dealt to a Forward. Any Forward. Ping it to death, till it lies broken in the Break Zone.

13-060R – Cecil

Not one of the better Cecil’s, but it might be worth the 1 point of Damage to get rid of a forward that’s been causing you trouble. And if that extra point of Damage gives you Brave, and +1K, well you might actually play this card.

13-061C – Hugh Yurg

4CP/8K who might have Brave depending on your cards. Decent Common.

13-062H – Bhunivelze

10CP for 10K. But you can find a way to get him down to Free, if you’re playing that many colors. As the game goes on, Bhunivelze just keeps getting better, and better. 3 Damage – Brave and Double Attack. 6 Damage Break a character every time Bhunivelze attacks. Times 2

And the fact that you can play this card from the Break Zone with Vanille (13-056R), I wouldn’t be surprised if this was in every Earth Deck. Simply just because you can.

13-063C – Monk

If you’re playing Monks, this is a good card. If you’re not, it’s too expensive.

13-064R – Yang

If you’re playing Mon…. I already said that. Yang will give your Monks a boost. High powered Forwards with Brave. Add Enna Kros (1-095R) and they will have an extra 1K. I saw that Monks already took first place, and Yang was a part of that.

13-065R – Rydia

I don’t know if Rydia is cost effective. 6CP to play a summon without paying the cost. I’ll pass.

13-066C – Lilty

Ice/Earth or Earth/Lightning take your pick. Or neither, With Tyro, you can choose any element you’d like. Discard or Break. The choice is yours.

13-067L – Leo

You might be able to play a high cost card for a couple of CP, depending on how many Crystal Chronicle Characters you’re controlling. Vanille (13-056R) is the better choice in my opinion.

13-068C – Alchemist

Just like Black Mage (13-005C). This card will work if you splash a single Ice or Wind card. Because then you’ll now exactly what you’ll end up with. Other than that. NEXT.

Opus XIII – Wind Review

13-035C – Arc

It’s like casting Protect on the fly. But, only on 2 Job Types. Probably won’t be used much.

13-036R – Eight

3CP/7K Eight should’ve had 8K. No? Ok, but, he gets cheaper if you play Cadets. 1CP/7K. Even Free!!! And, a 7K body at that. And if you already cast 2 cards this turn he comes in with Haste. This card should be played in almost every Cadets deck.

13-037C – Ochu

Just a simple card to re-Activate 2 Backups. If you got room in your deck add it. Plays well with Chocobos.

/sidenote : Also becomes a Forward

13-038H – Cid Haze

I didn’t realize how many Cid’s there are. Or Engineers. At first glance, I thought this card would be so-so. There are 17 Engineers including Cid Haze. And, 11 Cids. 12 if you count Cindy.

You can probably put together an Engineer deck. And have Cid Haze attack to Activate all of your cards. It might work. Or a Cid Deck. Who wants to build a Cid deck.

13-039C – Cid Pollendina EX

Searches for Cid Haze (13-038H). That’s all you need to know. Very important part of your Engineer Deck.

13-040L – Shara EX

Ritz (11-063L) just got stronger. I’m sure it’ll be easy enough to stack on those Viera Counters, making Ritz unbeatable.

13-041C – White Mage

Quick way to pretty much cast Protect. And the fact that you don’t have to Dull, means you can cast it on White Mage before he attacks.

13-042C – White Mage

Once again we Copy, Paste

“This card will work if you splash a single Fire or Ice card. Because then you’ll now exactly what you’ll end up with. Other than that. NEXT.”

13-043C – Stiltzkin

A 1 Cost Forward, or Monster. I took a look and there is 77 different cards to choose from.

Like Ochu (13-037C) just to name one.

13-044C – Selkie

I prefer the second ability on this card. Now to find a Wind/Earth deck to play it in.

13-045R – Dryad EX

Decent Summon. Casts off an EX Burst and at 5 points of damage becomes 5 times more powerful. Plus, you get to draw a card.

13-046R – Pavlov

I like the artwork on this card. It stands out, just like his ability to activate 2 FFCC characters. Yuri (7-128H) being one of them and Chelinka being the other. And, deal some Damage.

13-047H – Barbariccia

You just might be able to clear the board with her enter ability. And play Golbez at the end of both yours and your opponents turn. And Golbez is …. well, you’ll have to wait till we get there.

13-048H – Balthier

This card was made to play Fran (10-060L) from the Break Zone. And since Balthier will already be on the field when she enters, She will turn into a tough forward to beat. You can also use Balthier’s second ability. By dulling to Active Sky Pirates to give Fran +2K and Haste.

So, at the very least Fran will come in with Haste, and 10K Power.

So many Ideas for decks, not enough time. Or cards.

13-049C – Counterfeit Youth

Basically, if you control 4 or more Manikins, this card becomes a powerhouse.

13-050R – Mid

Mid can be thrown in the mix during your opponents turn with Back Attack, and potentially save one of your Forwards with her Enter Ability.

13-051R – Mog (FFBE)

Need a FFBE Forward, than this card is for you. Nothing else to write about.
