Emissaries of Light – Thoughts on Wind

16-043H – Atomos

How good do you think this card is?

Very good? I agree.

Atomos is currently auditioning for a role in Re-Animator, but this version of the movie will be called “Re-Activater” along side Rikku (2-071R). They’ll be bringing your Backups back from the Dead.

16-044L – Wol

Wol is here to make all your powerful Forwards, even more powerful. Not being able to be chosen by your opponents Summons or abilities. And, drawing a card when they come in.

Drawbacks?

Those Forwards need to have a cost of at least 5CP.

16-045C – Gargoyle

See, like Gargoyle here, The Forwards protected by Wol will not be able to be broken.

But, if Wol isn’t on the field, Gargoyle can take care of that pesky high cost Forward that is troubling you.

And then for 1CP you can take a sneak peak at the top 2 cards of your deck. If you like them, keep them. If not, just move them to the bottom of your deck, and hope for better cards.

16-046C – Chocobo Chick (VII)

For some reason I thought this card was a Backup.

But, even as a Summon, you might get some use out of this card. Pay 4 CP to activate the 4 Backups you just dulled to draw 1 card.

There might be something I’m missing.

16-047R – Sherlotta EX

Whatever happens Sherlotta is giving you at least 1 Crystal.

After that she will block Forwards until she is sent to the Break Zone, and give you another Crystal.

Or just chuck her from your hand for 1 Crystal.

16-048H – Zidane

Like we said earlier. Lani/Zidane Fire/Wind decks are coming.

Now we just need to find a way to keep bouncing Zidane back and forth.

Over and Over again.

Take control of your opponents deck.

16-049R – Seiryu EX

Another Shijin

4CP/7K. You’ll search for a Shijin upon entry, and Seiryu also comes in with built in protection.

No need for Wol.

16-050H – Ceodore

Ceodore comes in causes havoc, if you decide to dull 3 FFIV Characters, you can Break 1 of your opponents high cost Characters.

Ceodore seems to fit well into a Category IV deck. Simply because all his abilities involve IV Characters.

Real Sherlock Holmes here.

Tell me something I didn’t know.

Well, you can play Ceodore for free with Cecil. We’ll get to more about that in a moment.

16-051L – Cecil

For 5CP, you can play Cecil, and another card from your hand that’s 4CP or less. And if that card you play is a FFIV Character, you get to activate 2 Backups. Doing the math that means, if you played a IV cost IV Character (get what I did there?) you’ll actually end up +1CP.

Worst case scenario, you only save 1 Crystal Point, but why would you play a 1 cost when you can play anything up to 4CP.

And, the icing on the cake, is that Cecil protects all your Characters. forcing your opponent to pay 2CP just to make sure their Summons and abilities go through.

16-052C – Selkie

There’s a couple of cards we’ve seen so far that break Characters of cost 4 or more. Wol will be a card that I can see many people use do to the protection Wol grants.

But, we’re talking about Selkie here.

Selkie can sit on stand by until you need her. And, when you need her, at 5 points of Damage, she’ll break a Character of cost 4 or more. Take that, (insert pesky forward here.)

16-053H – King Tycoon

King Tycoon banishing most of your opponents board, because that’s what Kings can do.

As soon as he enters the field, you can return all the Forwards and Monsters your opponent controls to their hand.

Or just some of the cards. You don’t want to return any of the cards that have On entry abilities.

16-054C – Chocobo

The pixelated Chocobo, comes in and grabs a 2 cost Character or less from the Break Zone.

If you’re playing Chocobos, you’ll probably end up grabbing another Chocobo.

16-055C – Chocobo Sam

Chocobo Sam knows where all the Chocobos are. That’s why you’ll play him and find a Chocobo. Specifically Chocobo (6-050C). That way you’ll be able to play a free Chocobo every time it is your turn.

Plus, giving a Chocobo +3K for a turn let’s you know you’ll have the extra fire power if needed.

16-056R – Fat Chocobo

Fat Chocobo has one job.

That is to let you grab a Wind card from your hand at the end of each of your turns. If you’re playing Chocobos this might be a decent card to throw in your deck.

And for a simple dull, you’ll be able to play a Wind Backup once per turn.

And, keep a Fat Chocobo in your hand, because if Fat Chocobo gets hit by a Summon or ability, that 10K will keep him alive.

16-057C – Ninja

Uhm, well …

Removing 2 cards for 2000 damage?

I think I’ll pass.

16-058R – Fina

Comes with built in protection.

And, gives you the option of canceling an auto-ability, when she’s not even on the field. Sure you’ll need at least 4 Wind Backups on the field to be able to use it, but Fat Chocobo will be there to help you out with that one.

16-059C – Pecciotta EX

Is Morze’s Soiree Member going to become something?

Pecciotta here will help it become it. Activating all of Soiree when he enters the field.

The more I see these cards, the more I want to give it a try.

Time to crack open some Emissaries of Light and find all the cards I need.

16-060C – Madam M EX

I’m starting to see a pattern with all the Wind cards this set.

Madam M comes in and let’s you grab a Wind Character, if you find one when you reveal the top 4 cards of your deck.
Other than that, this 4 cost Backup is technically only 2CP.

16-061R – Yuri

Just like I just said, Yuri does the same thing as Madam M, but better.

This way you might actually play a card straight from your deck onto the field.

Or you can just grab any card if you can’t find a 3CP Wind Character.

16-062C – Lexa

Protect Madam Edel, that is Lexa’s job. More on that later.

A simple 2 cost Backup, that dulls and grants a Soiree Member, or Madam Edel +1K.

16-063R – Rosa

The missing piece of Cecil and Ceodore.

Rosa comes in and keeps feeding Ceodore and Cecil, to power them up just a little bit to help them survive or take down your opponents Forwards.

Stellar Circle 5

“You don’t need a reason to take the top card of your opponents deck.” Or something like that.

Zidane
2CP – Wind
Forward
Category : DFF – IX
Job – Tantalus Member/Thief
Hero
5000 Power

“When Zidane enters the field or attacks, your opponent removes the top card of their deck from the game. You can cast it as though you owned it at any time you could normally cast it. The cost for casting it can be paid using CP of any Element.

When Zidane enters the field, if you have cast 3 or more cards this turn, Zidane gains Haste until the end of the turn.”

Lani here… I mean Zidane, is a beefed up version of Lani from several Opuses? (Opi?) ago. Which gives you the chance to play your opponents cards. You don’t even need to worry about what element it is, because Zidane allows you to play it with any element.

Lani and Zidane should make an interesting Tag Team here, now that you have 2 ways to use your opponents cards against him.

This would be a perfect card for Bismarck, Lord of the Mists, as you will be bouncing Zidane back to your hand, Just to play him again and again.

And, again.

It seams like I keep mentioning Bismarck. Maybe it’s time I made a deck with the Lord of the Mists.

Final Fantasy TCG : Anniversary Collection 2022

It’s been 5 years since Final Fantasy TCG first released. Talk about how time flies. And to commemorate the 5 years we get this Anniversary Collection Set.

With Squall on the Box, you can use it to store your cards, your decks and what not. It comes with a pre-made 50 card deck and 200 cards ranging from Opus I to Opus XII. Plus a Promo card. Not bad for $60.

The way they word it on the store is mind boggling.

We’ll just go straight into the Legends.

Shantotto (1-107L)
Golbez (1-135L)
Diabolos (5-062L)
Y’shtola (5-068L)
Rinoa (6-041L)
Zidane (6-044L)
Cloud (8-006L)
Zidane (8-115L)
Gabranth (9-063L)
Fusoya (9-094L)
Ashe (10-106L)
Ritz (11-063L)

All these cards from what I understand will be Non-Foil Full Arts.

We’ll also get 4 Promo cards three of each Yuna & Tidus, Squall, Yuna and Lightning. Yuna & Tidus will be 3 Full Art Foils, while the other three will only have 1 Full Art Foil, but you’re still getting 3.

The Pre-constructed Deck will be Fire/Water. And, judging by the Promo card. It will be a fun deck to play with, i don’t know about against but, it seams like more and more cards have the ability to attack more than once per turn.

2CP for 8K. I’ll take that any day. Plus, that great ability. Of course you’ll need both Squall and Lightning to make use of it.

All in all, this should be a great product. As we don’t know what the rest of the “staples” are, it’ll be a nice surprise to find out once this comes.

Thief of all Trades

Well, I was going to write an article for each of the Legends in Opus XIV, for Card of the Week, but decided against it, as I would have jutst been pairing them back and forth with each other. I figured it out when I was about to start writing the article for Ravana, but decided against it when I was just going to pair him with Gilgamesh (FFBE).

So, I just decided to write about a card that I liked. Zidane

2CP – Wind/Water
Forward
Job : Thief
Category : IX
Hero
6000 Power

“Zidane cannot be blocked.

When Zidane deals damage to your opponent, choose up to 1 Forward. Return it to its owner’s hand.

Steal(S)(Wi): Your opponent reveals their hand. Select 1 card in their hand. Your opponent removes it from the game. You can cast it as though you owned it this turn. You an only use this ability during your turn.”

Zidane cannot be blocked. Half the time Zidane attacks will go through and you’ll get to choose 1 Forward and return it to their owner’s hand. Sometimes your opponent might use a Summon or ability. Which does not mean that Zidane will be broken.

And, Steal. Well it’s like playing Lani (12-018H), but this time both you and your opponent know what card it is. Which might give you the advantage as they might not execute their plan as they know you have an Ace up your sleeve.

I would have said just stick Zidane in a YRP deck but that would be too simple. You would be able to replace Zidane with any card and get the same effect.

But, Wind Water is the way to go.

Viking (4-133C) is a perfect choice. Whenever Zidane deals damage you can return Viking to your hand, Draw a card, and replay Viking to draw another card. Since your playing Viking, you need Leila (6-126R), just to be able to grab Viking back from the Break Zone, to be returned to hand by Zidane, to be played onto the field. And in that one turn you will have drawn 3 extra cards. 4 if you count the block on your opponents turn.

Chocobos, Zidane would be a good fit in here as well. You can return Chocobo (6-050C) to your hand, then dull Chocobo Knight (5-061C), to play Chocobo, and then play another Chocobo. Easy way to storm the field.

And of course, as always Maria (1-083H) for the +1K power. Even though Zidane can’t be blocked it’s always a good idea for extra fire power.

How would you use Zidane? Let us know in the comments.

Opus XIV – Multi-Element Review

14-119C – Ardyn

How is this just a common? At 2CP? Is it because it’s Fire/Earth?

Anyway. Ardyn here is a 7K body which comes in with 2 great abilities. You get to choose 1. Either is good. He’ll fit in good with the VII Forwards in this set.

14-120H – Tifa

If you remember from the video when they first revealed this card, we spoke about how Cloud is going to be a great card without knowing what the text was on Cloud’s card. Now that we know. Tifa and Cloud go hand in hand together. So, all you Cloud/Aerith shippers know that you are wrong. It’s Cloud/Tifa.

But, yeah. 3 of these and 3 Clouds, add a Barret and you got yourself a deck. Just throw in the rest of Avalanche and you’re good.

14-121L – Barret

It is highly unlikely that Barret will succumb to Damage, since any Damage dealt to him below 9K becomes 0. And if he is buffed up +X power, I can’t find any Forward that would be able to defeat him, save for a couple.

Now, all the AVALANCHE Operative Forwards gain Haste, and you can discard 1 card and grab an AVALANCHE Operative card from your Break Zone.

You can probably grab Tifa, which in turn will let you grab Cloud.

14-122L – Al-Cid

Al-Cid is up to his usual self here. And, buy that I mean, it’s a great card once again.

You’ll actually play 2 cards when you play Al-Cid on the field, so it’s pretty much a Buy 1 Get 1 Free. #BOGO

Other than that, depending on who enters the field you can Freeze or Dull your opponents Forwards.

14-123C – Sephiroth

Simple Sephiroth.

Simple Power.

Great ability. Second one is better than the first. Should play well with Physalis.

14-124H – Zeromus

Huh? It’s like all these new cards are great and powerful, and then you think, what do I do against this card. How am I going to block if all my cards are dull? How do I get rid of Zeromus? I’d like to see how this plays out.

Ice/Lightning FTW!

14-125L – Vaan

Activate. Activate. And play a Sky Pirate.

And then, activate some more.

14-126C – Aerith

Pick 1

A) Bounce a Forward

B) Protect a Forward

Either way, I still think Opus 1 Aerith is better. But, with all the Wind Activating going on, there might be some room for a different Aerith.

14-127H – Zidane

At 2CP this card should be a Legend.

It’s like this Zidane is Opus I and Opus III combined. And it’s only a Hero. Only a Hero

Think of the Shenanigans you can pull off with this.

Can’t be blocked. Return a Forward to their owner’s hand. Reveal your opponents hand, choose 1 card remove it, and then play it yourself.

I’ll take 3. Foils. Please let us get a Full Art.

14-128H – Prishe

From far away it looks like she’s sticking her tongue out at you.

For an extra 3CP you can play an Wind or an Earth card onto the field.

At 3 points of Damage, Prishe gains Brave and +1K. I like the other Prishe better. Which one? Not this one.

14-129H – Gessho

Another card that reveals your opponents hand, only this time you just remove 1 card from the game.

14-130H – Cloud of Darkness

Do it right, and you’ll have an 8K body played for free.Other than that just Dull and Freeze a Character when she enters the field.
