29-058R – Ardyn

Why does Ardyn look like a puppet? A bad one at that.

Ardyn acts as a Meat Shield. One that will attack as well.

First off, Ardyn has Brave, Ardyn cannot become dull by Summons or abilities, and when Ardyn enters the field, Ardyn Cannot be broken until the end of your opponent’s turn.

6CP might be a lot to pay to have Ardyn enter the field, but he sure will stick around long enough to get your money’s worth.

29-059H – Ash

Why does Ash remind me of Eddy Gordo?

Ash is bringing Monks to the forefront.

Why? Because when Ash or a monk enters the field, you can choose one of your Forwards and give them +2000 power and Brave.

And, that’s not all.

When Ash enters the field you can search for a Monk, and if you have another SOPFFO Character on the field you can play a Monk onto the field (3CP or less).

And, what does that tell you?

Ash is a free play!

29-060C – Ignis

Why not?

A chance to grab a Final Fantasy XV Character out of the top 5 cards of your deck. If you miss, well at least you have a 7K Meat Shield to stick around on the board.

4CP isn’t bad, and Ignis does have Sagefire, which will break a dull Forward.

No wonder Noctis kept him around all this time.

29-061L – Vincent

From the looks of it, I am liking this card.

Vincent comes on in and can grab a Final Fantasy VII card from the top 2 cards of your deck. If there are none, then those 2 cards go into your Break Zone.

But, that’s not the reason you’ll play Vincent. You will want to play Vincent for his ability that goes off at the beginning of your Attack Phase.

You can either give Vincent +3000 power and Brave, or you can deal a Forward 6000 damage, possibly breaking it.

I’d personally go for the first option.

29-062R – Wol

OK, this is an upgrade from Opus V Miner.

Wol Comes on in and plays a Backup of 2 or less from your Break Zone onto the field.

And that is a good enough reason to play this card. But, that is not all.

Once per turn Wol can pay a Crystal and he’ll grab a Character from your Break Zone to add to your hand. You can do this once per turn as well. All you need is a Crystal Generator, and you will be set for the whole game.

Let’s not forget that Wol is also a Forward, meaning that not only is he a recycling machine, he can also deal damage.

29-063R – Exdeath

MWAHAHAHAHA! (That’s me trying to type an evil laugh.)

This is great.

For 4 CP, you can play a Forward that has no way of being broken by Summon or abilities. The only way to get him off the field is by blocking his attack, with a higher powered Forward.

Either that or finding a way to remove him from the game.

But, that’s what Exdeath wants you to do.

Why?

Because once Exdeath is removed from the game, you will search for Neo Exdeath. And, we all know what Neo Exdeath does.

29-064C – Gargoyle

Our 1 cost Earth Monster is here, and it acts like a shield.

Gargoyle will give a quick block for one of your Forwards. Gargoyle will take 4000 damage off of the attack, and will then be on it’s way to the Break Zone.

But, do not worry. You’ll get to draw a card for your loss.

29-065C – Galuf EX

Simple, but effective.

Galuf comes in grabs a Character from your Break Zone, and then acts like a Meat shield. A Meat Shield with 8000 power. He’ll block your opponent’s attacks left and right until he is broken.

After that, you can just play another Galuf.

It might be time to give Opus V Miner the night off.

29-066C – Gladiolus

The brawn of the Retainers.

And, it does make sense that Gladiolus has 9000 power. But that cost can be a bit high if you ask me. 5CP would have been more reasonable.

Gladiolus comes in with Brave, and once per turn he can give a Final Fantasy XV Character +2000 power.

Might have been better off as a Backup.

29-067C – Krile

This is a great card for your Warrior of Light. Play a 6 cost Galuf from your hand onto the field? Yes, please!

Although we still haven’t seen this 6CP Galuf, and I am excited to see it. Don’t ask me why.

And if you don’t have a Galuf, you can always play a Earth Forward that costs 4CP or less instead.

At 2CP, I’ll be putting Krile in any Earth deck. Just because I can.

29-068L – Titan (XVI)

Titan has a face only a mother (and Hugo) can love.

But this is just a menacing card. Your opponent will be looking to get rid of Titan as fast as possible.

For one, when Titan is on the field, during your turn, your opponent’s Backups are just for show. They can’t produce CP, so they’re just sitting there watching Titan steal their bikes.

But, we’re not done. Cause as soon as Hugo Primes into Titan, you choose 3 of your opponent’s Forwards, and as soon as your Attack Phase starts, each Forward has to pay 1CP or they will be sent to the Break Zone. And, since we can’t use Backups to pay for this, your opponent will be discarding cards from their hand to keep these Forwards alive.

And, we’re not even done her.

Geocrush, the Titan Special. Put it on the menu, because Backups will start dropping like flies here.

29-069C – Dhorgorgang

A 6 cost Backup that can grab you two Forwards.

Nothing wrong with that as it will bring Dhorgorgang’s cost down to 2 CP.

Sure, you can’t search for the Forwards, but any Forwards will be good if you don’t have any on your front lines.

It wouldn’t hurt having one of these in your deck.

29-070R – Dragon Zombie

Here’s something that can halt your opponent for a turn.

Dragon Zombie comes in and chooses 3 Forwards that can’t attack or block until your opponent’s next turn. Meaning that they have no way to respond to your attacks, or attack you. Which is good, especially if they only have 3 Forwards on the field.

Other than that, this 3 cost Monster, will become a Forward when you have 5 Backups on the field.

That means that Dragon Zombie can be sent to the Break Zone, and you can play another one.

29-071R – Hugo

A 3 cost Forward that can’t be broken by most Summon or abilities. This is the definition of a Meat Shield. I mean just look at him, he’ll cover you like no tomorrow.

But, that’s not the reason you’ll play Hugo.

You’re playing Hugo, just to Prime into Titan, and we all know what happens after that.

If you’re playing Earth, throw Hugo/Titan into the mix.

29-072C/15-080C – Geomancer

Where’s Cecil?

“Geomancer here comes in gives you a Crystal, that you can use to play Cecil. After that, Geomancer dulls and heads over to the Break Zone, and gives Cecil Brave on the way out.”

I can’t remember why I wrote that back in Crystal Dominion.

Must have had a good reason.

29-073C – Beastmaster

Here’s your Monster recycler.

Beastmaster comes right in and grabs a Monster from your Break Zone.

And, that is it.

You can play 3 at once, grabbing 3 Monsters from your Break Zone.

After that, just a normal attacker in sheep’s clothing.

A male sheep.

A ram.

Just not as powerful as a ram.

29-074H – Moogle Trio

2000 damage for each Forward you control.

And, for 1CP, and this also comes off of an EX Burst?

That’s crazy, throw it in a Swarm deck like, I don’t know maybe Chocobos. and you’ll be getting rid of Forwards like a … I can’t think of anything right now, but you get what I’m trying to say.

Throw this in your deck, you’ll be glad you did.

29-075H – Yoran-Oran

Well, well well..

I can see it clearly now the Mage …

Mages will become a top tier tribal deck, that will easily take on Dragoons and Samurais. Not to mention Chocobos and whatever other Tribal deck you want to throw at them.

Why would I say that? Just take a look at Yoran-Oran’s first ability. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

You see? Any ability that is cast by a Mage cannot be canceled. CAN NOT!

Then you’ll say, that Yoran-Oran cost 7CP. So, what! YOu can play a Mage Forward that costs 5CP on to the field. And, you don’t even need to have that Mage in your hand. You can search for it.

So, search for Shantotto, and let the games begin.

29-076H – Roche

Roche is back. And he looks better than ever.

But, what does he do?

For 2CP, Roche comes in and nothing. His ability activates when he attacks. Where he trades damage with one of your opponent’s Forwards. But, at 6000 power, that’s not a lot to go on.

Luckily, you can Remove a Roche from the Break Zone, and give Roche 9000 power. Making him the muscle you need for that ability. Roche will then go Berserk, and he will attack every turn whether you like it or not.

Journey of Earth

22-055R – Ignis

Ignis is starting Earth off this set.

If Noctis is already on the field, Ignis cost goes down by 2CP, making his cost, you guessed it, 2CP.

He comes in with 7000 power and the ability to cancel an ability that is choosing any member of Noctis & Co.

And that’s about it. I’ve seen the rest of the Final Fantasy XV cards and I must say that they are working well together again.

But, then again, why wouldn’t they?

27-056H – Wuk Lamat

Here’s a free play.

If you’re playing Scions or even “The Twelve” You’ll have a free 9K Forward to play whenever you’d like. Well not whenever you’d like. Whenever you can play her, and if you have 5 XIV Characters already on the field.

Whenever Wuk Lamat declares an attack, you can either break one of your opponent’s Backups that cost 4CP or more, or you can reveal the top card of your deck and if it’s a Final Fantasy XIV Characer, you will add it to your hand.

I’ll take 3. Yes, and I’ll need to find all 12 Playsets of “The Twelve” along with 3 of Rebellion’s Call’s Hein.

27-057H – Erenville

Whats a Gleaner?

Erenville comes right on in and searches for a Final Fantasy XIV Forward. And that is pretty much it.
Erenville can also grab Wuk Lamat from the Break Zone sacrificing himself to save the Princess. Makes sense, right?

And since Erenville is sent to the Break Zone, there should be a spot for him in your deck, as you can take him out when you need to play another Backup.

.

27-058R – Karaha-Baruha

A summoner, that will Summon a card. The only problem is that you won’t know what card it will be.
You’ll look at the top 4 cards of your deck and add one to your hand.

There’s also an extra cost to this.

One of those cards will be sent to the Break Zone.

The other two cards go to the bottom of your deck.

Is Karaha-Baruha worth it? I don’t know, there’s plenty of cards that have similar abilities and you don’t have to sack one of the cards in your deck for it.

27-059C – Galuf

If you search for Galuf, or grab him from the Break Zone, you can pay 2CP and play him onto the field.
There’s plenty of cards that can search for Galuf, meaning that you can just throw him into any deck, and play him without worrying about color fixing.

It’s an easy way to get a high-powered body on the field.

Or Meat Shield as I like to call them.

Krile in this set is a good way to grab him.

You’ll get 2 cards on the field for 5CP.

27-060R – Gladiolus

The brawn of the Reteaners.

Gladiolus comes in and you can search for Noctis. This also comes off as an EX Burst.

Meaning you can be grabbing cards even when it’s not your turn.

But, you’d rather not have Gladiolus in your Damage Zone, cause you’ll need as many as you can, just so you can spam Royal Guard over and over.

What does Royal Guard do you ask?

It gives all of your Final Fantasy XV Forwards +5000 power and Brave. Meaning that they will be overpowered. And, we’re not just talking about the good guys either.

I’m liking how FFXV is looking with this set.

27-061C -Krile

One more searcher. We can never have enough of them.

Krile comes in and searches for a Final Fantasy V Forward.

As, we mentioned earlier, Galuf is great candidate for this, as you can play him immediately for 2CP.
You’ll have a Backup and a high-powered on the field turn one.

Anything else?

Nope, that’a about it.

27-062L Krile (XIV)

Is it just me or does it seem like we’re getting cards that need a lot of separate elements to be of any use?

Krile here is just the same. In order for her abilities to be useful, you’ll need at least 3 elements,
If you have 3 elements on the field when she enters, then you will be able to look at the top 4 cards of your deck and add one to your hand.

Her second ability needs 3CP all of a different Element as well, but when you use it, you’ll be able to play a Forward that costs up to 5CP from your hand onto the field. Yes this will be good to use if you don’t have a way of paying for the Elements of the card you want to play. On the other hand, this ability isn’t worth using if you’re paying for a low cast Character. But, you already knew that.

27-063H – Cindy

We all need more Cindy in our decks. And, this Cindy is probably the best one.

When she is on the field she will not only produce Earth CP, but Ice and Lightning as well. Meaning that your Final Fantasy XV deck, can include all these elements, or just one or the other, and it will be easier to navigate.

You’ll say 6CP is kind of high for that, and I’ll tell you that it’s not.

Cause when Cindy enters the field, you will look at the top 5 cards of your deck and add one Earth card, and one Ice or Lightning card to your hand. Bringing her total cost down to 2CP.

I would say a color fixer is worth more than 2CP.

27-064C – Summoner

It’s one CP, plus the extra cost.

Just like the other 1 cost Standard Units who act like Summons, but they like to stick around.

Summoner, allows your opponent to choose which card they get to send to the Break Zone. It could be good, it could be what they wanted.

Now, why would I say that? Cause sometimes, the only reason we play some cards, is because they have an ability that triggers when they get sent to the Break Zone.

So, you better check at what they have on the field before you decide to use Summoner.

It’s still a decent card though.

27-065H – Hashmal, Bringer of Order

You know what this is?

Besides a Summon.

This is your chance to bulk up your deck, if you are playing a Tribal deck. Which tribe? probably Monks as they’re already Earth.

When Hashmal, Bringer of Order is Summoned, you will be able to pick 2 cards out of the top 3 of your deck. You will have to name the Job or which Category you want first. And, then if luck would have it, which it should, you should see the 2 cards that you want to grab. The rest go to the bottom of your deck.

It’s a crap shoot, but most of the time you should come out ahead with 2 extra Crystal Points.

27-066L – Noctis

Noctis is bringing the band back. And, they’re coming back strong.

+2000 power strong.

And when he comes in, the first thing Noctis will do is search for 2 Retainers.

And, then Armiger, deals one of your opponent’s Forward 9000 damage.

Now you’ll ask, why is this a Legend?

And, I’ll say is that this card by itself is not a Legend, but it becomes a Legend when the whole band is on the field.

It’s Noctis’s ability as a leader, that brings it all together.

This might be my next project.

27-067C – Pictomancer (XIV)

This is a card exchanging hand.

Pictomancer waltzes on in, and you can discard a card and break one of your opponent’s Forwards that have the same card as the card that you discarded.

There must be an easier way to say that.

But, yeah that is what happens. And, if you have a Multi-Element card on the field, you will add a card from your Break Zone to your hand, and then you will discard a card.

This is a good way to find a card that has the same amount of CP as the Forward that you want to break.

27-068R – Prompto

Are you reading what I’m reading?

How is this just a Rare?

Prompto gives Noctis Brave, and the ability to attack twice per turn. Which in it’s own would be worth playing Prompto.

And, that is definately not all.

If you have all 4 of the main Final Fantasy XV Characters on the field, during every Attack Phase, Prompto will break your opponent’s Forward. Which one? That all depends. It will always be the Forward with the highest cost, and if there is more than one, your opponent will get to choose which one they discard.

2CP, that’s all this card counts. I’d be happy to pay up to 5CP for a card like this, if you can keep Prompto on the field long enough, he’ll put a big dent in your opponent’s plans.

27-069C – Marsalga

I’m guessing I’ll need to see the other Caledfwich cards to see if they are worth playing.

So far, we know Marsalsa cannot become dull by Summons or abilities.

And if you control another Caledfwlch you’ll grant Marsalga Brave.

And, that is about it.

Just your regular Meat Shield, with 9000 power.
.

27-070C – Malboro

It would have been nice, if we were introduced some status ailments thanks to Malboro. Sure we got “can’t block”, but what about Silence, and Sleep.

If I was in charge, I would have made this a Legend having Malboro, induce Dull, Freeze, Can’t block, Can’t attack, loses half it’s power. What else am I forgetting? Oh, yeah to all Forwards.

That would have been a fun card to play, but it also would suck to play against it. Which is why they probably didn’t do it like that.

Malboro will also be good in a Multi-Colored deck. Cause you can put Malboro into the Break Zone, and it will deal 3000 damage x the number of elements you have on the field to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

27-071C – Monk

A two cost Standard Unit that does do much.

But, it does one thing.

It will give an Earth Character +3000 power until the end of the turn.

And, produce CP until you decide to use Monk’s ability.

That’s it, this is just a way to hopefully save one of your Forwards, from an ability, a Summon, an attack, or a block.

Monk has some use, but not a lot.

27-072R – Riddar

Cecil is back … I mean Riddar is here, as a Paladi … Knight.

Riddar is your knight in shining armor, ready to take on the forces of your opponent, as he protects your Forwards from damage cause by your opponent’s abilities.

How will he do this?

Riddar does not take damage from your opponent’s abilities, if you have 3 Forwards on the field.

And, whenever your opponent targets one of your Forwards, you can use Riddar’s ability to change that target to Riddar himself. which in turn will make that damage a big fat Zero.

Gunslinger in the Earth

Shop for these Singles and more at our TCG Player Store!

20-061H – Ajido-Marujido

I don’t know how playable this card is.

You need at least 3 elements to get the first ability to go off, and 5 elements for the second ability. Granted if you do pay with 5 elements, both of Ajido-Marujidos abilities will go off.
Now, what do these abilities do?

The first one breaks one of your opponent’s Forwards, while the second one removes one of your opponent’s Forwards from the game.

You likely won’t be able to get the full effect of this card until late in the game, but if you do, you’ll be getting rid of 2 of your opponent’s Forwards leaving a whole in their front line.

Hopefully this will be the card that hands you the game.

If not, then there are plenty of other cards available to use.

20-062R – Apururu

Does anyone actually play a Final Fantasy XI themed deck?

If so what is it? Apururu here might be able to help you out as Apururu will produce CP of any element when paying for a Final Fantasy XI card.

And, at 2CP it’s worth throwing it in your deck.

Why is it that Earth has the most cards that can produce CP of any Element?

I don’t know if Apururu knows the answer, but he might be a decent play.

20-063R -Althyk EX

Why does Althyk look like Odin?

“Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental”

Althyk enters the field, and if you have at least 4 of “The Twelve” on the field, Althyk will deal one of your opponent’s Forwards 9000 damage, giving you a good chance at breaking that Forward.

And, what does Odin do? Odin breaks them. Well most of the time.

Did we mention this also comes off of an EX Burst?

20-064R – Ignis

Ignis is a Wild Card.

His ability is only as good as the Forwards that you already have on the field.

Once Ignis enters the field, you’ll dull 2 Forwards and deal another Forward damage equal to the power of the other 2 Forwards that you dulled.

It’s a mix and match game.

Do you have enough power to take down that 9000 power body that your opponent has on the field? Have Ignis take him down. If not just hold on to Ignis until you do.

Ignis also gains +2000 power when you have 3 points of damage.

20-065L – Vanille

At 1CP what’s not to like about Vanille.

The art? It’s great. The 4000 power? That’s perfect for her ability.

Vanille works great as a defender. She will block any attack, and if she is sent to the Break Zone, you can then remove her from the game, and Vanille will allow you to grab a Final Fantasy XIII Forward from your Break Zone.

And, if that’s not enough. Once per turn Vanille will look at the top card of your deck, and if it is a Final Fantasy XIII card, you will add that card to your hand.

Like I said, what’s not to like?

20-066L – Vincent

The Gunslinger, Vincent, ready to wreak havoc on you opponent.

Vincent comes in and right from the get go, he will destroy all of your opponent’s Forwards that cost 3CP or less. 99.99% of the time, those Forwards will be sent to the Break Zone. And, I only said 99.99% because we might get a 3 cost Forward with more then 10K. There are plenty of 9K Forwards, and those might make it out alive if you have a card like Maria (1-083H) on the field, who will give all your Forwards +1000 power.

Vincent will also deal 9000 damage to a Forward that targets him with it’s ability.
And, when Vincent is chosen by your opponent’s Summon, Vincent will choose one of your opponent’s Forwards and deal them 9000 damage as well.

If you get this at Prerelease or in draft, you better come out the winner.

Let’s not forget, Vincent also has First Strike!

20-067H – Eiko

If you’ve been wondering why we’ve been getting all these Summons with Eiko on them, we now have your answer.

Not really, but it sounded good.

Eiko will come in and you can grab 4 Summons from your Break Zone and put them on top of your deck. You may now shuffle your deck and reveal the top 4 cards. If you find a Summon, you can cast it without paying the cost.

The rest of the cards are sent into the Break Zone.

You might get a great play, but then again you might lose 3 of the cards that you need. It’s risk vs. reward here.

Eiko then sticks around as a Forward with 5000 power.

20-068C – Gladiator

I think they’re running out of Standard Units. I’ll have to check to make sure, but they introduced an old game, just to use the Jobs.

I don’t mind it, I’m just saying what it looks like to me. I think it’s time to bring the 8bit sprites for cards.

Oh wait. We’re supposed to be talking about Gladiator.

Gladiator is a Backup, that can give one of your Forwards +1000 power until the end of the turn. You’ll need to discard a card for this ability.

And, if the card you discard is a Fire card, then that Forward gains +3000 power.

And, that’s about it.

Now, where are those 8bit cards?

20-069C – BeastMaster

Do you feel lucky?

Play Beastmaster, and when you reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, and if you find a Monster that costs 2CP or less, you can play it on to the field. If not all 3 cards go to the bottom of your deck.

You can also put Beastmaster in the Break Zone and give one of your Monster Forwards +4000 power.

It’s a gamble that will cost you 3CP.

20-070H – Zangan

Zangan makes an appearance after being on hiatus since Opus I. Maybe that’s why he looks angry.

And this one is worth playing.

First off, Zangan will allow you to play a Tifa from your hand onto the field. Tifa’s cost can be no more than 5CP. This allows you to play any TIfa so far, except for the Rebellion’s Call Tifa which costs 6CP.

This would make Zangan a good play all in itself, as you will get 2 cards for the price of one.

But, that is definitely not all that Zangan can do. Zangan allows himself and Tifa to use abilities that dull in the same turn as they come in.

And, Zangan does have an ability as such, when you use it, you will deal 5000 damage to a Forward for each Martial Artist that you have. It will usually be Zangan and Tifa on the field. But, there is also Dadaluma and a Snow card that is a Martial Artist as well. Not to mention Opus I Bartz, who has all the jobs.

A new tribal deck has emerged, and is in the process of being complete.

20-071C – Sheiran

What am I missing?

I don’t remember Sheiran in Final Fantasy VII, unless they just named him in the Remake.
Sheiran enters the field and grabs a Final Fantasy VII Character from the Break Zone. And, if it’s Tifa, her cost is reduced by 3CP.

Was he the doctor that helped Cloud, or was that just nurses? I can’t remember. I just remember Cloud in a wheel chair.

It took me a second to realize that yes, Sheiran grabs a Final Fantasy VII Character from the Break Zone. And, grabbing cards from the Break Zone is always great.

This is why first opinions should always be double checked.

20-072R – Titan

Big Boss Man Titan.

He’s more like a manager.

When you cast Titan, you’ll give one of your Forwards +2000 power, and that Forward will deal damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards that you will choose.

We’ve seen this before, plenty of times. The only difference with this Titan is that you can dull 2 Earth Forwards instead of paying 3CP.

20-073C – Dyne

The other man with a machine gun hand.

Dyne comes in for 6CP, and you’re going to want to pay for him with cards from your hand.

Why?

Because the more cards you discard to pay for Dyne, the stronger his attack is.
4000 for each card you discard, bringing it up to a total of 12,000 damage to a Forward.

And, after that attack is done, you have a 9K body on the field. Ready to attack or block.

20-074C – Tama

Tama comes in and you have a decision to make.

Would you like to gain a Crystal?

Or would you like to grab a World of Final Fantasy Character from the Break Zone?
Either way you’re getting something.

Luckily we got Geomancer in this set, and you’ll be ready to use that second ability to grab from your Break Zone.

20-075C – Dio

Here’s your “Rainbow in the Park”

Sort of looks like Dio too, if you take away the mustache, and make him shorter. And less buff.

The Park Director is ready to manhandle your opponent, one Forward at a time. Cause when Dio blocks, or gets blocked he gains +3000 power, add in Enna Kros and that’s another +1000 power, and Maria as we mentioned earlier with Vincent, that brings Dio up to +5000 power.

That’s a lot of power.

And, when you have that 12,000 power on Dio, you can choose which Forward will block Dio. Allowing you to slowly take apart your opponent’s front line.

I think Dio along with Vincent will be fun to play with. Not against.

20-076H – Tifa

Are you ready for another 3 Card Trick?

Tifa, Zangan and Cloud, is all you’ll need. Doesn’t matter which Cloud as long as you have Zangan. The only Zangan that we have as of now. Maybe we’ll get another one this set, but I haven’t seen any yet. (Edit : I did, but I already wrote this one)

Zangan will come in and he will search for Tifa. Tifa will get Haste because Zangan is on the field. Since Tifa has Haste, you can go ahead and use her S ability. You can discard any card, because Zangan is on the field. Deal 8000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards, and since Cloud is on the field you will Activate Tifa. Rinse and Repeat, until you run out of cards in your hand, or Forwards to target.

Final Fantasy VII will be fun to play once again.

20-077R – Noctis

Noctis is thinking of a plan. How do I get back our fallen comrades?

And, he has figured it out.

When Noctis comes on to the field, he will search for a Final Fantasy XV Character and he will place it on top of your deck.

Now, that doesn’t help much, but if you have received 3 points of damage, Noctis’s second ability comes into play, which states When Noctis enters the field, draw a card. Technically speaking, Noctis grabs a Final Fantasy XV Character from the Break Zone and adds it to your hand.

After that, Noctis is a Meat Shield that will block an attack, and once he enters the Break Zone, you can play him once again.
Extra points if you grab Noctis and repeat, over and over for a blocker that can never be stopped.

It’s like casting Reraise.

20-078C – Nophica

Here we go!

Nophica is able to grab a couple of “The Twelve” from the Break Zone. One on her way in, and one on her way out.

At 4CP this can potentially be a Free Play, and if you play your cards right, it will be a Free Play.

With 8000 power, your opponent will have a little bit of a struggle trying to deal with her, and when they finally do, you can just put Nophica into the Break Zone, to grab the other “The Twelve” member.

The only thing that would make this card better is, if Nophica was able to grab herself from the Break Zone. But, then Nophica would have been more than a Rare.

20-079C-15-080C – Geomancer

Here’s a reprint, of a reprint, of a reprint.

So, we’re just going to, you guessed it, Copy/Paste from Opus XV Crystal Dominion.

“Geomancer here comes in gives you a Crystal, that you can use to play Cecil. After that, Geomancer dulls and heads over to the Break Zone, and gives Cecil Brave on the way out.”

What was Cecil doing?

At least you can use Geomancer for Tama.

20-080C – Mandragora

Didn’t we already get this card last set? Let me check.

Nope we got a similar card, which combined with this one will leave your opponent hurting.

Mandragora becomes a Forward during your turn and whenever it deals damage to a Forward that Forward breaks. Like the Wind.

And if Mandragora deals damage to your opponent, Mandragora gets sent to the Break Zone, and you can grab a card from your Break Zone and add it to your hand. You can always pick another Mandragora from your Break Zone, rinse and repeat.

We currently have 3 Mandragora type cards. I’ll be keeping an eye on these, maybe someday we’ll be able to make a Madragora deck.

23-058C – Dark Knight

Oh wow, these Standard Unit Backups in this set are powerful. Sure, you need to have 5 Backups to get the full effect, but these Backups only cost 2CP.

Dark Knight comes in and gives a Forward. +1000 power and Brave.

If you have 5 Backups, then all of your Forwards gain +1000 power and Brave.

You can go all in swinging left and right with all of your Forwards, and then still have the resources to block your opponent’s attacks.

23-059C – Ignis EX

Noctis Is Down!! Hurry Phoenix Down!

That pretty much sums up Ignis.

When he enters the field you can grab a FFXV Character from your Break Zone, and add it to your hand. Not just Noct, but any XV Character that resides in there at that moment.

Best part is that this ability also comes off as an EX Burst.

Might be worth it … it’s always worth it if your grabbing cards from the Break Zone.

23-060L – Vincent

Beautiful card.

Though shall not pay 7CP to cast Vincent. Though shall pay 1CP to Warp Vincent. Vincent is Warp 6 meaning that 3 full turns need to pass before Vincent will enter the field. But the Warp Counters will reduce by one each time a Final Fantasy VII Character enters your field.

A ticking time-bomb, that once it goes off, you will Break one of your opponent’s Forwards and one of their Backups.
If you didn’t Warp Vincent, then you’ll just Break the Forward.

A Vincent worth playing?

23-061H – Warrior of Light

This is great.

If you have the CP, you can play a Standard Unit from the Break Zone at the begining of the Attack Phase. Doesn’t matter whose Attack Phase it is either! Yours. Your opponent’s. You can play that Standard Unit and buff up your defenses, add an attack, or play that Dark Knight from earlier, and give +1000 power and Brave to all of your Forwards.

You can also search for 2 Standard Units when Warrior of Light enters the field and send them to the Break Zone, so they’re ready for you whenever you’ll need them.

You can also splash any element with these Standard Units.

23-062H – Emet-Selch

Here’s one way to search for a high cost Forward.

And when you play a high cost Forward onto the field, Emet-Selch will deal another Forward 8000 damage.

And, that’s about it.

Other than that Emet-Selch costs 4CP, with a 8k body.

At least his ability to deal 8000 damage to a Forward goes off every time a high cost Forward enters the field. Maybe bounce that high cost Forward.

23-063C – Gladiolus

Gladiolus is ready to deal some serious damage, as long as his buddies are around.

Does that mean that this Gladiolus is a better play then the other Gladiolusi (? Gladioluses?)?

Probably not, but it might be fun to play in sealed, if there are more FFXV Characters in this set.

Gladiolus gains +1000 power and Brave if you have at least another FFXV Character on the field. Which you most likely will, or you won’t be playing Gladiolus.

Dawnhammer, Gladiolus’s Special ability that will 99% of the time break a Forward of your choosing.

23-064R – Golem

Would you like to see this Golem’s 3 card trick? He’s been hanging by the Korner with a Kardboard box and 3 cards. Would you like to try your luck?

I bet you do.

Choose a Forward, any Forward.

Now let’s flip over these 3 cards.

Grab one of the Forwards, return the other 2 to the bottom of your deck, and deal your Forwards Power as damage to the Forward that you have chosen.

Didn’t find a Forward?

Well, you’re out of luck.

23-065R – Gogmagog

Two heads are better than 1. 2 Monsters are better than one, too. And Gogmagog, is better with another monster on the field.

We already know that Gogmagog turns into a Forward with another Monster on the field.

So, let’s talk about what Gogmagog can do. Gogmagog can bring itself back from the Break Zone, as long as you remove a Monster in play from the game.

Should be good in any Monster deck.

23-066R – Jessie

Need a quick buff?

Jessie has 2 abilities that will buff you Forward.

The first one, she’ll buff any Final Fantasy VII Forward by 1000 power.

And secondly, If she buffs Cloud, Cloud will gain +2000 power.

Talk about favoritism.

23-067R – Shantotto

Do you recycle?

If so, Shantotto can help you get some recycled goods.

Shantotto comes in and grabs 2 Summons from either Break Zone. After that they are yours to keep until the end of the game, casting them whenever you need to.

This works good for you, as if your opponent is known for removing cards from your Break Zone, you can keep a couple of Summons that you know you’ll need later.

It’s like a side, side deck.

23-068C – SOLDIER Candidate

Earth’s Candidate to become a full fledged member of SOLDIER.

These are all pretty decent 2 cost Commons.

SOLDIER Candidate, come in and acts like Atlas?

… or was it Titan?

Well, SOLDIER Candidate comes in and you choose a Forward, and they deal damage to each other.

Might be a good way to get rid of a Forward.

23-069C – Narashima

Just like SOLDIER Candidate, only this time you choose your Forward that you want to trade blows with.

If you got an overpowered Forward, with plenty of buffs, well then this card is for you.

If you ask me, I’d pick Opus VII Fang, with 6 FFXIII Characters on the field, including Opus I Lebreaue. What’s that 11K?

I’m sure you can find a better Forward, but since Narashime is already a Category XIII Character. I stuck with that.

23-070H – Hythlodaeus

At first look I thought we were getting some Organization XIII cards. Then I realized we aren’t.

But, that doesn’t mean this isn’t a good card. In fact I think it’s great.

If Emet-Selch is on the field Hythlodaeus becomes a 3CP Forward with a 9K body.

That’s what you call a cheap Meat Shield. And, that is not the reason you’re playing this one.

You can use Hythlodaeus’s ability to put both her and Emet-Selch into the Break Zone. Then you shuffle your deck reveal the top 4 cards and play all the Characters onto the field.

If you’re lucky and all of your high cost Forwards pop up, you’ll be golden.

Just hope you don’t find any Summons there.

23-071C/15-080C – Geomancer

You know what time it is?

Copy/Paste time.

“Reprint.

Standard Unit.

Crystal.

Brave.

Maybe a Geomancer actually mines for Crystals.”

23-072 Brionac

A 5 cost Forward with 9000 power. Pretty normal for a Common, but during your Main Phase, you can remove 2 Earth cards from your Break Zone, from the game, and Brionac will gain +2000 power and Brave.

Brionac also has an ability that will deal 9000 damage to a Forward, but you’ll need a Crystal for that one.

If all you need is a Meat Shield, to block your opponent’s attacks, Brionac might be a good fit for you.

Best case scenario you find Brionac when you cast Golem.

23-073C – Prompto

Monster Hunter, or Monster Tamer?

Either way Prompto does things to Monsters that not many people do.

He takes pictures.

And those pictures will either Break a Monster, or Bring one back from the Break Zone.

???

Yeah, I got nothing.

23-074C – Wrieg

Here we are.

You can play Wrieg right before you play Prompto.

You’ll get your Monster back, and have a Forward and a Backup to show for it.

Is it worth playing?

I’d say that depends on if the Monster has an ability that goes off when it is put into the Break Zone.

At the very least, you’ll draw 2 Cards.

23-075R – Layle

A self sustainable Forward.

Layle comes in, gains a Crystal.

Layle attacks, gains a Crystal.

Layle attacks again, gains a Crystal.

Layle uses the Crystals when he is attacking and break a Monster or a Forward.

All this for 2CP.

23-076H – Regis

Regis might cost 7CP, but you get so much in return for that.

Regis comes in and you can grab a Final Fantasy XV Forward (of cost 5 or less) from your Break Zone, and play it straight to he field.

That alone will make Regis worth playing, but if you have already received 5 points of damage, you can go ahead and double that. This allows you to grab 2 XV Forwards from your Break Zone and play them straight to the field.

3 Forwards on the field for 7CP? Sounds like a good deal to me!

Lion’s Roar

Where do we start?

That’s simple. You start with Cor (9-066C) because that is the card we chose to represent Cor in this Character of the week. We believe it is the better version, and that is that.

Now that Cor is set, we need to add the late king, Regis (15-103C), which not only gives Cor his permanent buff, simply because it’s Regis, but Regis also lowers the cost of casting the Kingslaive by 1CP.

Battling alongside King Regis, and Cor is Cid Sophiar (18-077R) and Clarus (11-068R). Cid Sophiar can grab a Character from the Break Zone, and Clarus let’s you search for a King. Which doesn’t have to be Regis.

What’s a Captain to do without the Kingsglaive? Well, we’ll need to grab them all and add them here. Pelna (15-098C) you can cast him for 1CP because you’ll most likely have more than one FFXV Character on the field already. And he’ll buff all of your XV Forwards by 2000 power.

Tredd (15-093R), for 1CP you can give a XV Forward +1K and Brave for the rest of the turn. If you put him in the Break Zone, it’s +3K and First Strike.

Libertus (11-102C), to let you grab a XV Character from the Break Zone, and possibly activate 2 Backups if you choose …
Nyx (11-097H), cause he’s about to strike down your opponent with Haste when you put a Kingslaive into the Break Zone, which could be …

Crowe (11-092C), who will help you grab a Forward from your Break Zone.

I’m lost.

With So, many Lightning Forwards we need to add Glauca (11-091R) to save us a Crystal Point every time we play a Lightning Forward.

Now that King Regis has passed away, Cor now watches over Noctis (12-121R) who comes in and grabs a FFXV Forward from the Break Zone. And every time he forms a party all the Forwards gain a 2K buff and Haste.

Cor will now need the help of the Retainers.

Ignis (20-066R), because everyone needs a meal, even when you’re on the road. Plus, you can put a Backup you control into the Break Zone, to break a Forward and grab a Forward from your Break Zone.

Gladiolus (18-135S), cause we need a powerhouse on the team, that can deal enough damage to Break even the most powerful Forwards.

And Prompto (8-082R), cause that’s the only Earth Prompto.

We’ll add Class Tenth Moogle (9-074C) to help us pay for Lightning CP.

We’re going to grab our Free Summons Fenrir (19-064R) and Ramuh (19-083R)

Then we’ll also grab Mist Dragon (9-068H) and another Fenrir (12-068H).

And that should complete our Cor Deck.

Forwards

3x – Regis (15-103R)
3x – Libertus (11-102C)
3x – Ignis (20-066R)

Backups

3x – Class Tenth Moogle (9-047C)

2x – Mist Dragon (9-068H)
2x – Fenrir (19-064R)
