Blissful Eternity

The Final Fantasy Trading Card Game community is buzzing today with the official reveal of Opus XXVIII: Blissful Eternity. With a heavy focus on one of the franchise’s most beloved entries and some high-end collector’s items, this set is shaping up to be a monumental release for 2026.

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming set.

Mark Your Calendars: Release Dates

The summer is looking hot for FFTCG players. Set your reminders for these key dates:

  • Midnight Prerelease: July 24, 2026

  • Official Launch: July 31, 2026

Note: Stay tuned for more details on our Midnight Prerelease event coming soon!

The Year of Final Fantasy X

It’s no coincidence that Tidus is gracing the box art for Blissful Eternity, following Yuna’s appearance on the Dreamlike Oceans (Opus XXVII) box art coming this March.

As we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Final Fantasy X, the game is clearly taking center stage. Fans are already speculating that this could mean the return of the “YRP” (Yuna, Rikku, Paine) meta. Will we see new versions of the iconic trio to shake up the competitive scene?

The Return of “Noir” and Gold Signatures

Collectors, get your top-loaders ready. The Noir style—first introduced in the FFTCG Special PR Collection Noir—is making a comeback. These striking black-and-white reprints featuring Tetsuya Nomura’s signature are highly coveted, and this set brings a heavy hitter:

  1. Noir Reprint: Cloud (11-127L)

  2. The Gold Treatment: A brand new Sephiroth (29-087L) will receive the Full Art Gold Signature treatment.

With two Gold Signatures in one set, the hunt is on. I’m personally curious to see if the pull rates for these will be identical; I have a sneaking suspicion that one might end up being the ‘ultimate’ chase card of the set, but we’ll have to wait for the official drop to find out.

Set Breakdown & Legacy Cards

Opus XXVIII is packed with value, boasting a massive 36 Full Art cards. We also have confirmation on the Legacy Card slots, which feature some powerhouse reprints:

  • Gilgamesh (14-023L)

  • Warrior of Light (21-121L)

  • Mont Leonis (22-113L)

First Look: New Artwork

While we don’t have the full text for these cards yet, the artwork for seven key characters has been teased. The lineup includes:

  • Seymour, Eiko, Yuna, Kelger, Roche, Faris, and Zidane.

What are you most excited for in Blissful Eternity? Are you chasing that Noir Cloud, or are you hoping for a meta-defining YRP comeback? Let us know in the comments!

Starting Your Journey of Discovery

27-127S – Wuk Lamat

The more Characters that you have on the field, the stronger Wuk Lamat gets. As a card, not a Forward.

If you have or more Characters, every time your Forwards attack, Wuk Lamat will increase that damage bu 2000 damage. Giving you an constant advantage over your opponent. Add in Fire Backups, like Lebreau (1-030R) and that one Warrior from Opus V. 5-014C which gives your Fire Forwards +2000 power.

And when Wuk Lamat enters the field or attacks, if you have 5 or more Characters, you will deal 7000 damage to one of your opponent’s Forwards.

You’ll want to fill up your board if you want to use Wuk Lamat.

27-123S – Zack

Let your opponent play their Forwards before you decide to play Zack, cause if they have 3 Forwards on the field, Zack will come in with Haste.

And when he enters the field or Attacks, Zack will deal damage to all of your opponent’s Forwards. 1000 for each Backup you control. This will bring you at a max total of 5000 damage.

And, since Zack comes in with Haste, you will be able to deal this damage twice in one turn.

The plan is to get all your Backups in as soon as possible. Then you will play Zack, and then I would say that you have a 90% chance at a board wipe.

27-124S – Cloud

Cloud is here to save the day, at least for a turn.

Cloud comes in for 3CP, and gives all of your Forwards +3000 power and Brave.

And, there you have it. That alone would make Cloud a great card to play, add in the fact that he also gives one of your Forwards protection. That Forward cannot be broken, and cannot be returned to your hand by Summons or abilities.

This way if you ever needed to keep a Forward as safe as possible, Cloud just might get the job done.

27-125S – Luso

This Clan Gully Member, is on his way to building a deck alongside some Mandragoras.

Luso comes in for 1CP, and even though he only has 3000 power, he still can do a lot of damage. Especially if you can find a way to give Luso First Strike. Imagine the possibilities. Brave and First Strike. Luso will become unstoppable. Add in Cloud’s protection and you have a way to chip away at your opponent’s Forwards one by one.

And, Luso isn’t done yet. Whenever he deals damage to your opponent you can either grab a Character from your Break Zone, or you can Deal a Forward 3000 damage. And you know what happens to Forwards that Luso deals damage to.

27-126S – Sphene

Did you need to protect that Break Zone of yours?

Sphene is here to help. She’s actually here to do a lot more than just help.

When Sphene is on the field, your opponent cannot remove any of the cards in your Break Zone. End of story.

You’ll say, yeah that’s pretty good especially if you have a way of grabbing cards from your Break Zone.
Well, Sphene does that too. Once per turn, your turn that is, Sphene will grab a Forward from your Break Zone, and you can add it to your hand.

I’m just thinking we’re going to be recycling Luso.

27-127S – Lightning

A 7 cost Lightning card, named Lightning.

You’ll think that this card is a bit expensive, and I might even agree with you.

Yes, there are cards that will Break an opponent’s Forwards for less CP. And, yes, you can just play Opus I Odin for 7CP and Break any one of your opponent’s Forwards.

But, look at what else Lightning has to offer. She stays on the field as a body with 9000 power. Plus when ever one of your opponent’s Forwards is sent to the Break Zone she grants Haste to one of your own Forwards. Yes, you can choose Lightning for this.

Let’s not forget that you can Break a Forward off of an EX Burst as well.

And that, my friends is that.

27-128S – Charlotte

A New Charlotte, and this one is very playable. Charlotte will put a fork in your opponent’s plans. As two of her abilities will turn your opponent’s plan on their head. (I think that’s what you call it).

All of your opponent’s Forwards cannot use action abilities when Charlotte is on the field, and all of your Forwards cannot be chosen by your opponent’s Summons if they cost 1CP.

That’s not all, the damage Charlotte receives is reduced by 1000. Making it harder for your opponent to try and get rid of her. Add in the 8000 power Charlotte already has, and she’ll stick around on the field for as long as you’d like.

27-129S – Yuna

Yuna comes in and you play a 3 cost Forward from your hand onto the field. Which Tidus costs 3CP? Oh, yeah the one from Emissaries of Light. We’ll just leave that information here.

But, there are plenty of 3 cost Forwards that you can play. Since you don’t have to worry about Element, you can splash in any Forward that you would like.

Yuna will also grab a card from your deck every time she attacks. Making her a Forward that keeps on giving. Over and over again.

I would have expected this card to cost more than just 4CP.

26-041 – Ashe

Ashe looks like she just came out of Revenant Wings. And, on closer inspection, it says Revenant Wings right on the bottom.

First look shows us that if you have 3 Final Fantasy XII Characters on the field, Ashe’s cost will become 2CP. And, with that 2CP you get a 9K body. Who would have thought that the Queen would be a Meat Shield?

And, that is not the reason that you will play this Legend. All of your Forwards, except for Ashe will gain +2000 power. Pair that with Maria (1-083H) and all of your other Forwards will have +3000 power.

And if you need to reduce the damage dealt to one of your Forwards, all you need to do is dull one of your Final Fantasy XII Characters, and that damage will be reduced by 2000. This along with Ashe and Maria, gives your Forwards a 5K buffer zone. I’ll take it. Might even decide on some Sky Pirates one day.

26-042R – Alexander

That’s it? 3CP to break a High Cost Character?

And, if you don’t have the CP you can just dull 2 Wind Forwards?

This is great!

I’ll take 3 of these, even if I don’t have a Wind deck at the moment.

This card will see plenty of use.

26-043R – Vaan EX

Did we already say that Sky Pirates are making a comeback?

They might be, and Vaan is here to help with that.

We won’t even talk about his enter the field ability, where you can add a Sky Pirate to your hand from the top 3 cards of your deck. Or the fact that, this ability comes off of an EX Burst as well.

Nope, we’re going to talk about his second ability, which states that every time a Sky Pirate enters your field, you will activate 2 of your Backups. Vaan pays for himself right away. 2CP from the Sky Pirate you grab when he enters the field, and 2CP every time a Sky Pirate enters your field.

Vaan will give you positive CP, which is always good for Wind.

After that Vaan is just a Meat Shield.

26-044C – Sky Samurai

“Samurai of the Skyyyy,
Attack and Activate Myyy,
Backups, we can do it thriiiice”

I’ll leave that to the professionals.

Imagine having a Forward that can activate a couple of Backups every time they attack. Now think if you can have 3 of those Forwards on the field at the same time.

And, that Forward gains +2000 power when they attack!

I think we have something here. All decks playing Wind should have 3 of these.

It’s called Free CP. It’s even better if those Backups have abilities that you can use again.

And again.

And, again.

26-045C – Aerith

What can we say about this card? All you need is right there. On the card.

Aerith will activate all of your Final Fantasy VII Characters other than herself.

All you need to know is that Aerith should be usually played during your Main Phase 2. That way you can go all out and Attack with all of your Forwards. Play Aerith and have all of your Forwards ready to block.

And, that is that.

26-046C – Echo EX

Wol needs your help.

First off he needs help finding himself. Luckily Echo is here to help with that. Echo will search for Wol when she enters the field. This ability also comes off from an EX Burst.

Wol also needs some protection, and Echo can also help with that. If Wol is ever targeted by Summons or abilities, Echo will grant him protection in the form that Wol cannot be chosen by your opponent’s Summons or abilites.

Opus V Wol, I’m looking at you! You’re going to make a comeback!

26-047H – Oschon

I lost count of which of “The Twelve” I’ve seen. I’m thinking by the time I’ve seen Oschon it’s probably close to the end.

Oschon gains 1000 power for every other member of “The Twelve” That you have on the field. Giving Oschon a max of 16,000 from “The Other Eleven” And, there still are more ways to increase Oschon’s power. You might be able to get him into the 20s.

And once, Oschon has more than 10,000 power, Oschon will not be able to be chosen by your opponent’s abilities, and if he is dealt damage by any ability, that damage becomes 0.

Oschon might just be the main attacker of “The Twelve”

26-048C – Cloud

A Wind Cloud? Haven’t seen one of these yet.

5CP, or you can Warp Cloud for 2CP. Do you want to wait a turn? Or did you want Cloud in right this instance. Either way, if you can keep Cloud alive through out the match, Cloud will most likely be giving you a card every turn. Especially if you’re playing a Mono-Wind deck. Which is now possible with all the Final Fantasy VII Wind cards we have now.

You don’t even need to play Cloud in a FFVII deck, he’ll fit right in any Mono-Wind deck.
Focused Thrust? Yes, a special ability that will allow you to break a high cost Forward. 5CP or more.

26-049R – Cactuar Conductor

A 2 cost Backup, that can save your World of Final Fantasy Characters.

Let’s say Reynn, or Lann is about to be broken by one of your opponent’s abilities, Cactuar Conductor will come in and save the day. He’ll remove the Forward from the game and bring them back to the field at the end of the turn.

Or, does that World of Final Fantasy Forward have a great enter the field ability that you want to use once again, Cactuar Conductor is here to help with that as well.

Extra bonus points for Tonberry being featured on the card.

26-050R – Cissnei

I thought I already wrote this one.

Cissnei enters the field and you have 2 options. Either send a Monster to the Break Zone, or you can activate 3 Backups.

If you choose to activate the Backups, Cissnei becomes a free play. And, we here at Kardboard Korner like free.

Cissnei also has an ability that will deal 2000 damage to a Forward of your choosing.
That’s about it simple, effective and great art.

26-051C – White Mage

Are you looking for Break Zone removal?

White Mage is here for that. Why would a White Mage be removing cards from the Break Zone is not something I thought I would see. I would have given that to maybe a Time Mage, or a Necromancer.

Once you use White Mage’s ability, you will take 3 cards from your opponent’s Break Zone and remove them from the game. If one was a Water card, you’ll also draw a card. And then you will discard a card.

White Mage can be useful in a pinch.

26-052H – Sonon

Sonon is back, and I’ll say that this Sonon is the best Sonon so far, son(on).

You will play Sonon on the same turn that you play Yuffie, that way they both will have Haste, an they both will be able to form a party and attack.

And, once that happens, you will activate all of your Backups, and you will draw a card. Leaving you with plenty of options for your Main Phase 2.

Now the only question left is what Yuffie do we use? I’m sure there’s one in this set, although I haven’t seen it yet. (This was written a month before Gunslinger in the Abyss is released. No Yuffie yet.) I would say either Resurgence of Power Yuffie, where she activates all of your Forwards when she attacks, or Hidden Trials Yuffie, where you draw a card when she deal damage to your opponent. 2 Wind CP will make that Yuffie unblockable.

The Choice is yours, would you like to draw 1 cards, or would you like to activate all of your Forwards?

26-053L – Bartz

Warriors of Light get ready to use those Crystals!

Bartz is here, and ready to be put into any deck that has Crystal Generators. You don’t even need any Wind Elements in your deck, as long as you have Crystals ready to go. 3 to be exact. You can pay for Bartz with those 3 Crystals, and when he enters the field, you can look at the top 2 cards of your deck, and play a Character that costs 3CP or less straight to the field. The other card goes to your hand.

And if you don’t want to use Crystals, you can always just pay 8CP. Because at the end of the day, You will get at least half of the CP you used back.

After all is said and done, Bartz becomes a Meat Shield with 9000 power.

26-054C – Penelo

If you’re playing Sky Pirates, you might as well throw Penelo in, even if you’re playing with another Penelo.

Why?

Well, first off Penelo is a Free Play if you already have Vaan on the field.

Second, Penelo will show you the top card of your deck, and if it’s a Final Fantasy XII card you can add it to your hand. If it’s not you just put it back. This way, you’ll at least know what the next card is.

And lastly, Penelo will block an attack, just so you can use this card again.

It’s not the best Penelo, but what she does is great for a turn.

26-055H – Fina

Now this is interesting. Fina the Warp Mage!

Warping has now become that much easier. Warp any element that you’d like without worrying about what elements you have in your hand or on the board, because Fina will allow you to pay with any element that you have on hand.

And, when Fina enters the field she will search for a Character that can Warp. Allowing you to use her ability from the get go.

Fina also has another ability that will remove a Warp counter from one of your cards that are currently Warping.

This is a great card all around. 3 of these will always be good to have. Even if you don’t need them in your current deck, you might need them in a future deck.

26-056C – Gorger

It’s the Elemental Wind Monster in the Abyss.

Gorger becomes a Forward during your turn, and Gorger can not be blocked by a Forward that costs 3CP or more.

Pay attention.

When Gorger deals damage to your opponent, you will put Gorger into the Break Zone, Activate 3 Backups, and draw a card. After that you can play that card that you just drew, because you’ll have 3 extra CP that you didn’t have before.

Gorger would have been better if he wasn’t sent to the Break Zone, after it deals damage, but then Gorger would have been over powered.

26-057C – Millefeui

A one cost Backup that will allow you to draw 2 cards down the line.

Millefeui isn’t a bad card to have, as you’ll be getting 1CP per turn, and you pay a whopping 1CP to get Millefeui on the field.

Only drawback, which isn’t really a drawback, is that you need at least 15 Wind cards in your Break Zone.

Other than that it’s a decent card. I don’t see me using it though.

26-058H -Larsa

This card is hard to read. The way the Full Art blends with the words is just off putting.
Let’s see what Larsa does.

Larsa is made for a Final Fantasy XII deck, but that deck will not be Sky Pirates.

When Larsa comes in you will either grab Ashe, Basch or a Judge from your deck and add it to your hand. I’m guessing we’re going to see more Judges here, or a Final Fantasy XII Royal Family deck, where Rasler will finally have a deck to be in.

Larsa will also sacrifice himself when a Final Fantasy XII Forward is sent into the Break Zone. And you will then add that Forward back to your hand.

I’d just change the art, make it a bit more readable.

26-059R – Llymlaen

Here is the first card that you will want to play when playing “The Twelve”. Llymalaen will allow you to cast “The Twelve” with CP of any element. No need to worry about how you’re going to pay for each member, when Llymlaen is on the field.

And, Llymlaen’s cost of 2CP makes her even better.

Is that all?

Nope.

Llymlaen will also protect one member of The Twelve when they are chosen by your opponent’s Summons.

26-060C/15-058C – Dragoon

Here’s a reprint, of a reprint, of a reprint.

So, we’re just going to, you guessed it, Copy/Paste from Opus XV Crystal Dominion.

“You’ll need Dragoon to keep Kain on your side.

Other than that he enters the field. Gives you a Crystal. And finally you put him in the Break Zone and he gives 1 Forward First Strike.”

And, there’s no Kain here, so that was useless.

Kardboard Fantasy II

05/26

Finally got to test out that Ipod that I had, and you guessed it, there is something wrong with it. But, instead of spending time trying to fix it, I’m just going to try and sell it for parts.

Plus I ordered the AV Cable for the Dreamcast, and a new sensor bar for the Wii, and that bar should work for the Wii U as well. Now, that I’m thinking about it, I should have looked for the plug for the Wii U. Next time. I don’t even have any games for the Wii U.

05/27

Found some Final Fantasy VII Anniversary Art Museums, and they are now online.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to start reorganizing the office today. Hoping to move some things around and have more table space to work on, be it shipping, sorting, and listing. I’ll let you all know how that goes.

Trying to figure out how to get rid of all this Bulk I have that I have no use for. I’m talking about Sports Cards, Pokemon and every other TCG besides Final Fantasy. Probably going to start listing Bulk Lots on eBay. We’ll see how that goes.

05/28

You guessed it. It’s raining.

It always seems to rain when I need to head over to the Flea Market. Nothing found today, cause there was nothing to find.

I did notice that some Thrift Stores are starting to open earlier than they normally did. I don’t have much luck at thrift stores, but if I don’t have much else going on, it’s worth getting out.

I actually started working on the office today. It’s starting to look a little better, but everything is all over the place right now. It will slowly come together, once everything is organized I’ll be able to work side by side with my wife, and that is something that we have been planning for a while now.

05/29

Had to take my kids to The Forge today for a field trip that they had. It was out of the way, but it’s a nice drive down Cal Sag through the forest. Once you get off, you head down a dirt road until you reach it. I got excited, because I turned on the four wheel drive on the Jeep. Probably drove like that for half a mile, but it was enjoyable.

On the way back, I took Archer down to go through Willow Springs hoping to find a Garage Sale. Nothing. Nothing at all. I only found one Sale going on and that was a lady that has a Garage Sale every week, and she is always trying to sell the same stuff. Naturally, I skipped that one.

After I picked up the kids from school, I headed to a Thrift Store, and managed to find a Shrek button up shirt from Hot Topic. It still had the tags on and everything. I picked it up, and then we went for Ice Cream.

05/30

Friday, but this Friday is different. My kids are receiving awards at school, so it is my job to take the morning off and go and watch the ceremony. But, that doesn’t start till 12PM. TIme to go Saling? Saleing? Sailing? (How would you spell it?)

It’s starting to get better. There’s a lot more garage sales out there. I’m guessing it was the chance for rain that kept people inside.

Managed to find a PS2 with controllers, memory cards, and 4 games today. And, a bunch of Basketball cards, which I knew I shouldn’t pick up. But, I did. Nothing really good was in there.

05/31

Last day of May, and it’s Saturday. (Hey, that rhymes!) That means we’re off to the Flea Market. Once again we’re going to 3 separate ones. Alsip, Robbins and Chicago. Wake up early and I’m bringing along both the kids today. They actually like going.

Alsip is first as always. Lots of good stuff, but not at the prices we’re looking for. Until I ran into a Crystal Red 2DS. The gentleman said he didn’t know if it worked. That’s ok, at the price he was asking, I’ll take a chance on it.

That’s all that we got over there.

Robbins was next, 6 PS2 Public Betas and Demo discs. a PS4 Controller and a pair of Oogie Boogie Vans.

So far , we’re doing great. We could have stopped there and have been done for the day, but we still had money, and that means we can still buy more stuff. Off to 42nd and Ashland. That’s probably the biggest Swap around here. We probably walk around 3 miles at least to go up and down all the stalls.

What did we find? We found the coolest thing imaginable. Something you’d never think you would find at the Flea Market. Was it the Fortnite Leviathan figure? Nope. Was it the Supernatural Join the Hunt Collector Box? Nope again. I don’t even know why I picked it up. I should have left it there. All I want to do is throw it in the garbage.

Back on track.

So, what was it?

We found Cloud’s Buster Sword! It wasn’t actual size. It’s probably about 3 to 4 Feet long. My son was walking around with it sitting on his shoulder. He was just as excited as I was. As I’m walking around I see a gentleman spot the sword and his mouth dropped. You were 2 minutes too late buddy.

The Crystal Red 2DS didn’t work like it was supposed to. I listed it on eBay for parts, and I started getting offers for it right off the bat. It was gone within the hour.

06/01

June is here. And, I for one can’t believe it.

It was a lazy day for me. Just tested out 3 of the PS2 Public Betas. I didn’t try the Demo Discs cause they were still sealed, with a shipping label on them. Not much money in these, they’ll go up as a lot on eBay.

I spent the rest of the day putting orders together.

Then I passed out on the couch.
